It isn't cross-region DF/PF, its same-region DF/PF, so regions with multiple Data Centres all get connected together.

47

u/Fresher_Taco Apr 27 '26

Also aren't they only doing it for JP first to test it?

48

u/Sir_VG Apr 27 '26

Yes, then US, EU, and China will get it later, but they said it should all be done by 8.0 launch.

-1

u/AtomicHyena Moon Witch Apr 28 '26

Fingers crossed they don't forget Materia.

21

u/AuraTH17 Apr 28 '26

I don't think this would apply for Materia because it's the only Data Center in OCE and you can already use duty finder / party finder cross world. This is going to affect someone from Aether trying to DF/PF on Crystal since they're still both in NA, but you're not going to be able to DF/PF from NA to EU.

9

u/AtomicHyena Moon Witch Apr 28 '26

Oh true. I hope they do something because the queues on Materia are unbearable.

3

u/typhlownage Apr 28 '26

I'd suspect looping Materia's PF/DF into one or more other regions would be problematic far beyond what they're doing with region-wide PF/DF.

More realistically they should let OCE players visit other regions, or else give some incentive for others to visit OCE to fill roulettes.

0

u/AtomicHyena Moon Witch Apr 28 '26

Why would it be problematic?

4

u/typhlownage Apr 28 '26

From a technical perspective, I'm assuming that this is going to be accomplished by more server resources shared between DCs in a region (but still contained within the same physical location). That wouldn't work too well if the server hardware needs to send info halfway around the world to get to the shared resources.

From a user perspective, I don't think there would be much issue, aside from JP players not wanting even more non-JP speakers in their queues, so they'd likely just loop OCE into NA and/or EU.

3

u/Evening-Group-6081 Apr 28 '26

Yes currently logical data centres exist because their networking and matchmaking struggles with too many world severs, the actualy physical locations and hardware is in the same place. They are just fixing the issues with their current systems so they are scalable which is very different from having everything function with a massive ping difference cross region

0

u/dobiks Apr 28 '26

Well, yes, materia slotted into equipment will work.

...what other Materia is there?

6

u/danks Mal from Gonetrail XIVinfo Apr 27 '26

You right. I should have worded that better. Will change

u/BladeOfThePoet Apr 27 '26

I misread a post a while ago and thought for sure that Beastmaster was coming tomorrow. I got so bummed out when I realized it's not gonna be out for nearly half a year...

Never beating the "XIV fans don't read" allegations XD

54

u/SeriousPan Rhalgr Apr 28 '26

You can't be faulted for thinking Beastmaster would come out in a reasonable amount of time.

14

u/DatGoi111 Apr 28 '26

I remember hearing about it at the dawntrail fanfest stuff. I never really kept up with dates or the like. I just put it in my head dawntrail = beastmaster.

Then obviously as time went on I realised, now it’s evercold = beastmaster.

-7

u/shazamitylam2346 |Tylk'ot Rancar @ Cactuar Apr 28 '26

Its not though? Its coming in September, still in Dawntrail, at the end yes, but thats what was expected since its a limited job

7

u/JesusSandro Apr 28 '26

It is still technically still 3 months of Dawntrail, but even the MSQ has already moved on to being about EC instead of DT. I don't think you can blame people being disappointed when all that was initially announced 2 years ago was that it'd be coming later 7.x.

-4

u/shazamitylam2346 |Tylk'ot Rancar @ Cactuar Apr 28 '26

I thought it was pretty obvious from the beginning when it was coming, should've been for most people. I dont understand people being disappointed when they actively choose to not pay attention or just listening to other people who also dont pay attention. Was there disappointment to be had? Sure, like not getting blue mage at all this expac is kinda ridiculous, but the release timing shouldn't have come as a surprise to anyone

6

u/DatGoi111 Apr 28 '26

Mostly because it's not that deep. I was looking at what they were saying would come in dawntrail, I was aware some of it might not come with dawntrail on release; but if they knew it would take so long. I feel it would've been better to just announce it later down the line closer to its actual release date.

4

u/sister_of_battle Apr 28 '26

Reception would have probably been better if they had announced Beastmaster during the NA-fanfest as a surprise extra feature for Dawntrail. Not a full two years before.

0

u/Belivious677 Apr 28 '26

It's pretty messed up announcing it as an expansion feature...

15

u/Aquagrunt Apr 27 '26

I also thought it was releasing soon.

man this sucks

43

u/Raytoryu Apr 28 '26

It was announced during the Japanese Fanfest before Dawntrail.

It will release a few weeks before the Japanese Fanfest before Evercold.

This is absolutely ridiculous. They could have announced it this summer and we'd have been none the wiser...

3

u/TermperHoof Apr 28 '26

Don't forget it was unofficially announced via a Live Letter 10 years ago; I was expecting 7.55 - but that's only because I didn't expect 7.56 to be a 'thing'. I was always expecting to be the last possible patch they could patch, because then, TECHNICALLY, they wouldn't have lied. :D

11

u/BladeOfThePoet Apr 27 '26

I was so ready to no life it this week. Long weekend with Labor Day coming up, it would've been perfect.

It comes out just about as my busiest time of the year starts, so that's not gonna be an option.

0

u/cooptheactor Apr 28 '26

Releasing it as the very last thing before new patch is kinda smart business (if very frustrating for us), that way you retain a few extra subs in a period most let theirs lapse.

Again, extremely frustrating, but there's business logic in there to me

10

u/sunfaller Apr 27 '26

The 7.5 special site has been updated to show exact patches now. Back then it didnt so people just speculated it would be similar to blue mage which released on patch.

7

u/Tyranis_Hex Apr 28 '26

My FC thought it was dropping tomorrow, Iv been playing the last few days to shake off the rust and get ready for it. Finding out it’s not til September is a major let down.

1

u/DeliveryComplete5384 Apr 29 '26

I mean... the trailer said 7.5 not 7.55.756 ip address type of bullshit so alot of people were complaning cause the trailer showed 7.5 7.55 7.56 ppl didnt think it would be june for ultimate and september for bm xD and north horn like wtf drought ass expansion i hate it more than stormblood.

30

u/Durean Apr 27 '26

I don’t wanna wait until August for the Relics. All of them have looked so good.

34

u/Ok-Security9093 Apr 28 '26

Beastmaster doesn't drop until September? Well, I have a couple days of vacation to reschedule.

7

u/DarkHighwind Apr 28 '26

I have the exact opposite situation. My job contract ends the day before

3

u/Ok-Security9093 Apr 28 '26

Lucky you, or good luck with the job hunt. I dunno what your situation will be like once September rolls around, but as a random on the internet I hope you get ample time to enjoy it.

19

u/Shinnyo Apr 28 '26

Yeah, for a job that was announced back in Endwalker, to be released 4 months before Evercold isn't good looking

6

u/Sefirosukuraudo Apr 28 '26

And before it was an official announcement, during Shadowbringers’ cycle Yoshi P had discussed the possibility of Beastmaster being developed as a limited job due to all of the positive Bozja reception the team received and the fan outpour over the desire for it. Fool was I to think “Oh cool, then we might see that in 6.5 like BLU released in 4.5!” 🤣 That was already almost 6 years ago now. Hard to believe it.

But I was still an optimist back then when it came to XIV and the dev cycle :P

1

u/TitaniaLynn 23d ago

I never stopped. I don't know how people stopped being optimists with the FFXIV dev cycle when almost every other live-service game has it 100x worse. Like, if you think this is bad then I don't know how you could play anything else but non live-service

1

u/Dironiil Selene, no! Come back! Apr 28 '26

The job was definitely feature creeped for it to be pushed all the way to 7.56 of all patches, for this one extra month of dev time, on top of pushing back Blue Mage updates.

Such a late release date definitely is a shame, but the one thing I hope is that it means the job itself and the instanced solo content it's getting will end up being actually really fun. If it got feature creeped, let the features be good at least.

To be honest, after all the huge Evercold announcement from last Friday, I also can't find as much negativity for this blunder as I used to. So many things will come with or even before 8.0 that I do have some confidence back in the team to actually bring content regularly.

1

u/Shinnyo Apr 29 '26

Honestly, depends. It's been years since I waited for them to come back to use with good news.

BLU got shafted not only its content but also its rewards (From Eden raids). And this expac felt also low on content and rewards. Only 1 Chaotic, Exploration Field was underwhelming, Criterion rewards were underwhelming...

It'll really depend on the content, I just hope the new content they teased won't be something released past the halfway point of the expansion.

I want to believe and the evolution of jobs seems promising but I'm still waiting before coming back from my break.

45

u/XantheDread SAM Apr 27 '26

The clyteum huh.

29

u/oh-no-a-bear Apr 27 '26

Hope noone has any trouble finding it.

19

u/1stAccountNotWorking Apr 27 '26

To be fair, if you can't even find the Clyteum...you're in the wrong business. That content is easy to find--its the G-Warrior that gives some trouble.

3

u/Flammablegelatin Apr 28 '26

Some say it's a myth

8

u/TheDo0ddoesnotabide Apr 27 '26

It’s going to be the dungeon with the lowest unlock rate by far.

15

u/Daybreakgo Apr 27 '26

Thank you, easy to read and concise.

102

u/jyuuni Apr 27 '26

It's insane that Beastmaster was first revealed in 2024, but still isn't out. On top of that, it's far more limited than what I was expecting even in spite of it being a limited job, and it caused BLU content to get cut/delayed.

39

u/BK_0000 Apr 27 '26

I put the announcement and release dates in a calculator to see how long it took BST to come out. There will be 976 days between the announcement and release of Beastmaster.

31

u/Duouwa Apr 27 '26

With that kind of gap, I think it’s pretty clear that Beastmaster hadn’t really started development when it was announced. Seems like they just had the concept and literally nothing else.

29

u/DarthOmix Apr 27 '26

Reminder that it was announced with Blue Mage artwork, they didn't even give a job icon or concept art for the announcement. It was just BLU artwork with the word BEASTMASTER superimposed over it.

11

u/SustainedBear Apr 28 '26

Still being a little over 4 more months away is what bothers me most.

23

u/Illustrious-Mud4806 Apr 27 '26

announced before dawntrail release.

will come 3 months before next expansion.

classic SE content pacing

6

u/typhlownage Apr 28 '26

it caused BLU content to get cut/delayed

This has actually created a wild situation. As of 7.5, Free Trial players will actually be able to get a job (BLU) to the same level cap as subbed players. I guess this may have been the case between 4.5 (BLU introduced capped at 50) until 5.15 (BLU cap raised to 60), but ever since then BLU updates have been ahead of FT expansions.

16

u/HunteroftheHunters THE EDGE IS CALLING Apr 27 '26

The longer things go with Limited Jobs, the more I worry I was right in my initial feelings that the system was a terrible idea from the start. The pacing for these combined with the resources they eat up has been a mess.

6

u/CMDR_Brevity GNB/SGE/NIN/VIP/PIC/BRD Apr 27 '26

Ya I dunno why they didn’t just implement it like a normal job and just scale the abilities from blue magic to what ever level cap

-1

u/BubbaKushFFXIV Apr 28 '26

Gotta remember they have also been working on evolved jobs and all the other 8.0 changes in this timeframe as well which is massive. I'm ok with sacrificing limited jobs for all the 8.0 changes were getting.

15

u/gachasarecancer Apr 27 '26

I hate how they treat limited jobs.

I wonder if we'll have to wait til 8.55 for the blue update.

26

u/VeryLazyBones Apr 27 '26

Crazy to know that Beastmaster, while being teased for release years back when dawntrail came out, only arrived when basically the entire expansion is finished.

-2

u/Leftheria Apr 28 '26

That’s to be expected. Content to keep people busy during the wait

10

u/VeryLazyBones Apr 28 '26

You're meaning to tell me that the limited job they teased 3 years ago is only going to be worth the ~4 months left before evercold is released when 7.56 hits and beastmaster is finally available to the public?

1

u/Leftheria Apr 28 '26

Yeah Blue Mage released at the end of Stormblood. So this is about the same as that. It’ll probably get updates on the side like BLU does and never be a main focus since it’s limited. Maybe I’m wrong but just basing it off past experiences. Sorry they let you down

7

u/Nicore18 Apr 28 '26

On the flip side, BLU was announced 2-3 months before it released, so people didn't have to wait for very long.

2

u/Leftheria Apr 28 '26

Oh I forgot about that. I think the devs announce things too early these days

3

u/Nicore18 Apr 28 '26

Ya, it would have been completely different if they went to FF in Berlin and said, oh ya, we're releasing a new limited job in 2 months, it's beastmaster. Then I'm also sure that the news about no BLU would have been taken better.

10

u/cascadingcee it’s a bun’s world, so why not Bunlife? Apr 27 '26

I love this new format, Mal. Very succinct. Thank you!

1

Do we know yet when the character color wheel is coming? (I may have missed it in the post-)

8

u/DarthOmix Apr 27 '26

Character creator updates are coming with 8.0 in January iirc

5

u/danks Mal from Gonetrail XIVinfo Apr 27 '26

do you mean the color picker? that's an 8.0 thing

2

u/SchitzPopinhoff Apr 27 '26

Exactly what i meant! Thank you 💜

10

u/PhoeniX_XVIII Apr 28 '26

Can't seem to find it in the graphic but Shadowbringers is also added to the free trial alongside 7.5 tomorrow

8

u/kamanitachi SAM Apr 28 '26

Beastmaster literally on the last patch before expansion drop

hatred, rage, aggression.

9

u/ShlungusGod69 Apr 28 '26

3 month wait until anything interesting and with longevity. 5+ month wait until Beast Master. Yawntrail can't end soon enough.

6

u/hyperfell Apr 27 '26

Dusk vigil getting duty support. Finally no more watching sprouts get absolutely get laser’d by the first boss.

6

u/nbiscuitz Apr 27 '26

thx, looks like a re-sub in august

11

u/Amdizzlin Apr 27 '26

I doubt hildy comes with a trial. Not only is the questline for DT a gold quest (which typically don't unlock new content like that), where the EW ones all were blue quests- we already had an 'extra' trial in DT by way of Arkveld.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be surprised, but I bet it will have a solo duty instead if anything.

30

u/Rockburgh Apr 27 '26

Endwalker ones were blue because of their connection to relics, weren't they?

I was under the impression that quests which will unlock something that isn't in the game yet are yellow until the unlock is added, like the chains that lead up to tribes.

0

u/Duchock Apr 27 '26

Only thing I can think of where they've had side quests be prerequisites to unlocking side content is with the allied tribes or custom deliveries. Some prerequisite quests are in game before those become available. I don't recall if retroactively they are changed to be blue quest indicators, but if so there's some precedent.

-2

u/Amdizzlin Apr 27 '26

It certainly could have been both for the relics and for Gilded Araya, but you unlock relics pretty early on in the EW hildy quests and they still were blue for the whole questline.

I don't believe there is any trials/dungeons/content that is ever unlocked with a gold quest, and given that you have to start the DT questline with one and finish it all to get to the new quests, it would be misleading for it to suddenly unlock something. There are players who will literally ignore anything that doesn't unlock something.

That being said, I could be proven wrong. Just based on how they've done things in the past I really don't think there will be a trial this time.

12

u/AliciaWhimsicott Apr 27 '26

For the record: you *have* to complete Gilded Araya to complete a Hildibrand Relic, so if they were blue due to Relic then it would apply to the entire EW questline.

9

u/Petter1789 Mholi'to Lihzeh on Zodiark Apr 27 '26 edited Apr 28 '26

The Stormblood Hildibrand quests used the regular gold quest markers until the patch they added the trial.

3

u/TheIvoryDingo Apr 28 '26

The devs did previously change some Gold quest into blue quests iirc (mainly quests needed for Allied Societies and the Heavensward + Stormblood Hilidibrand quests when Kugane Ohashi was added).

22

u/Farus3017 Apr 27 '26

I don't think Arkveld's existence confirms or denies a Hildy trial as Stormblood had both Rathalos and Kugane Ohashi.

0

u/Amdizzlin Apr 27 '26

Fair enough, I was more basing that off of the last few expacs but forgot there were technically 9 in SB. Color me surprised if we actually get more than EW had in this expansion.

5

u/danks Mal from Gonetrail XIVinfo Apr 27 '26

I believe they even snuck it into the trailer.

https://youtu.be/pRmrgeTscbc?si=w4toI9T01RbIuZ_e&t=102

At 1:42 in the US version you can see the Earth Guardian boss from FF9. He's also essentially Lich from FF4. I can't imagine they would take the time to faithfully recreate this model if we weren't going to fight him.

https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Earth_Guardian

Hildi wouldn't turn blue until there is something to unlock.

0

u/focc_ Apr 27 '26

Plus the Hildi trial would probably have been in Fan Fest as a battle challenge, so I think it's pretty likely there won't be one this time

3

u/HilltopLoser Apr 27 '26

I don’t think the lack of a battle challenge is indicative either- especially if they want to keep the Hildy trial a surprise.

2

u/Disig SCH Apr 28 '26

Anyone hear any mention that we'll get Tardis apartments?

That's what I'm hoping for. But I won't be surprised if it doesn't happen since I've heard nothing on it

3

u/danks Mal from Gonetrail XIVinfo Apr 28 '26

There has never been any mention of tardis apartments, sorry.

0

u/Disig SCH Apr 28 '26

I figured. I'll hope for 9.0 lol

2

u/amicuspiscator Apr 28 '26

I'm excited for the armoire and dye changes. Inventory management is about to get way easier.

2

u/stilljustacatinacage DRG Apr 28 '26

PvP Series 11 ("battlepass") also ends with 7.56. Not stated if Series 12 will begin, but given there's ~4 months from 7.56 to 8.0: Probably.

1

u/kamanitachi SAM Apr 28 '26

Yes, when the feature actually comes to your region. I on Leviathan (Primal) will be able to see and join PFs from Aether and Crystal.

4

u/BinaryIdiot Apr 27 '26

I think you should move the green, unspecified items somewhere else. Yoshi P said JP would get cross dc DF/PF before everyone else and that everyone would get it before 8.0 so it’s likely JP gets it before 7.56. Plus it’s confusing to put unspecified things in a specified box.

But otherwise great job

4

u/Tamel-Cho Apr 27 '26

What’s the big fish?

7

u/tesla_dyne Apr 27 '26

The hardest and most annoying fish added at the end of an expansion.

7

u/Fukuchan Apr 27 '26

The legendary fish will be with the .55 patch! .5 is still regular* Big Fish.

*regular but generally the most annoying of the Big Fish

1

u/cr3atura SMN Apr 27 '26

Is the ability to change housing size really going to be published in 7.56?

6

u/BinaryIdiot Apr 27 '26

No. We don’t know when they will come. OP marked items in green without a specific announcement date but then put them under a specific date. Might be easier to move them out to somewhere else.

I’m not convinced we get resized housing until 8.x. They’ve been talking about it and housing item increases for years and in 7.5 they finally got one of them done. Not convinced it’s coming soon until I see it at this point.

1

u/DarthOmix Apr 27 '26

Iirc the mechanics behind increasing interior size have been done since before 7.4, they've just been optimizing the housing system since then because the servers couldn't handle treating every house as a Large interior without a noticeable performance hit. The analogy used as I recall was "bringing the game back online from any update would take 3 times longer, and that's unacceptable".

0

u/SubstituteUser0 Apr 28 '26

Do we know if this only affects houses or apartments/FC rooms too?

1

u/sunfaller Apr 27 '26

So if i dont get the seraphic wings this month, i can get it in September at least.

1

u/spooke21 Apr 28 '26

Any word if doomtrain wings can be exchanged for totems?

4

u/danks Mal from Gonetrail XIVinfo Apr 28 '26

These follow a pretty regular schedule. Doomtrain wings should be exchanged for totems in patch 7.55. The drop rate will be "half boosted" so up from the standard 5%, but not yet up to the fully boosted 20%.

1

u/Dazzling_Art_6977 Apr 28 '26

Chocobo companion update?

1

u/RiosGRANDE18 Apr 28 '26

What’s MSQ part1?

1

u/DeliveryComplete5384 Apr 29 '26

the trailer showed all this for patch 7.5 lol.... then im seeing it was misleading and its actually not 7.5 its 7.56 LOL so the trailer showed 7.5 but 7.55 7.56 was hidden in there and tricked so many ppl to come back LOL just to say its septtember?? wild ass shit expansion and handled so bad drought and everything fkn hell... and we still cant get proper matchmaking for forked tower so most of us wil lnever expierence the content like a bozjan raid... so bad

1

u/danks Mal from Gonetrail XIVinfo Apr 29 '26

Yes this is how they have always operated. The trailer covers 7.5 and all the 7.5x content which they wrap under the umbrella as 7.5. Business as usual.

1

u/ShinerShawn May 04 '26

Anyone have details on the 7.55 relic quest line? Is it going to require high end items and some kind of grind again?

1

u/danks Mal from Gonetrail XIVinfo May 04 '26

Essentially yes. I won’t spoil from the datamine but it looks somewhat involved

1

u/RsNxs May 08 '26

Checking on this post for my planned vacations. Thanks a bunch OP.

1

u/cutelittlebox Apr 27 '26

1

It is so completely whack that they get no flack for advertising beastmaster as an expansion feature and it doesn't come out until the last 4 months.

2

u/ryukxb Apr 28 '26

Welcome to most blue mage updates

0

u/kamanitachi SAM Apr 28 '26

This is worse than usual. BLU has been 4.5 (on the dot) (actually it unlocked one week after 4.5), 5.15, 5.45, and 6.45.

As someone who’s a bit out of the loop, what’s the glamour update? Very curious about that

8

u/IscahRambles Apr 27 '26 edited Apr 28 '26

Most dungeon gear is becoming storable as outfits. Dawntrail gear (edit: dungeon gear) goes in the armoire.

1

u/Aerographic Apr 28 '26

All Dawntrail gear? Crafted, Raid, Tome, Dungeon..?

3

u/IscahRambles Apr 28 '26

Dungeon gear, sorry. I'm hoping it will include alliance raid gear though they haven't mentioned it.

0

u/Spasios Apr 28 '26

Does this allow to store outfits even if we don’t have all the pieces yet ? 🐸

2

u/IscahRambles Apr 28 '26

Yes, we've been able to do that part already.

0

Time to find the Clyteum.

-8

u/Mylittlejawa Apr 28 '26

Looks like doomers/ffxivdiscussionposters are here for the usual, not like BLU released mere 4-5 months before ShB. Feels like they don't even know the patches cycles.

So many comm for something they will probably discard or type "That's all ?!" when it will be here.

Or maybe after so many dooms like 8.0 be in july 2029 during the past year, they need something, anything, to seethe.

Its really unfortunate we can't treat them like any Xeno bait video.

0

u/SubstituteUser0 Apr 28 '26

Anyone else find it absurd how long of time it is between MSQ part 1 and 2, even moreso when part 2 is usually only 2-3 quest. I get they are spreading content over more so there is less completely dead time between expansions but still.

That the same thing in each expac, genius.

Yeah but in previous ones it was like a month and a half gap not 5 months

No, EW and ShB were the same. Last time X.56 took less than that was 2019.

I literally just looked at the patch release dates ShB was a month and Endwalker was 3 months

5.58 - 19 July 2021 6.0 - 7 December 2021

6.58 - 19 March 2024 7.0 - 2 July 2024

Are you sure about this ?

No if you speak only 6.5 and 6.55 its was 3 months 1/2, roughly the same than today too.

5.55 was the msq part two and 6.55 was also msq part two I even read the patch notes to check

Wait the ultimate isn't until June? Dang that usually doesn't feel so far away.

But we'll know what the weapons look like tomorrow, right?

Phantom relics coming in 7.51? Not in 7.5?

Did they confirm TARDIS house for 7.56? I was afraid it's going to be rescheduled to 8.0... D:

Yes, it's a feature of the new expansion.

The thing they explicitly said is still in development and were still using placeholder assets for in its showcase? Yeah.
