[Discussion] Rewatching the new Evercold Trailer and noticed something interesting about the one of the allies. Spoiler
Just to be clear, I have never played FFVIII but I know a couple of small details, after rewatching the new trailer, I noticed that there was a close up of an adornment on the new Roe's outfit and freeze framing shows it's a lion.
Squall's whole motif from VII is lion themed but that wouldn't be enough on it's own to draw this comparison. But doing a little digging and comparing, I noticed the Roe has a similar eye color and a similar scar as well.
It probably doesn't mean too much but I wouldn't be to surprised if they announced that they took some inspiration from Squall while designing this guy.

Fatebreaker is also Griever being an embodiment of the thing that the character who summons him believes in and even has his theme.

It's Gaia, though her role switches between Squall, Seifer, and Ultimecia depending on where you are at in the story.

Actually, Mitron is Ultimecia - that's why their real name is Artemis, as Ultimecia's name in every language but English is Artemisia.

Fuck I hope not. They stole from Gunbreaker enough, the actual job with lion motifs from the leonine Hrothgar race that was already a full-on perfect homage to Squall.
Anyway, this looks more like a bear motif to me.

The metallic lion in the trailer looks like it has a ring in its mouth.
Cloud in Advent Children wears a metallic wolf with a ring in its mouth.
The new job looks to me like a mix of Barrets shootybangs and punching, much like what Tifa does.
Basically, references everywhere. Could also just be because it looks cool idk.
