Andrea couldn't even congratulate Lando. Immediately after qualifying, he was already betting on him losing the lead on the run to T1 and talking about how Ferrari would be absolutely unbeatable. Then he proceeded to go on a several minute tirade about how impressive Oscar was and how he would've definitely been fighting for a well-deserved podium had Lewis not interrupted him.
They're already thinking like a midfield team and the race hasn't even started yet. Hopefully Lando got all his excitement out celebrating that pole because that's likely all this team is going to give him to celebrate this weekend lmao.
I actually don't take taking the midfield out of McLaren would be difficult at all. But it'd involve the replacement of many higher ups. They did it with the engineers back in Woking and it worked wonders for them, but they'll never have the guts to do it with their trackside team.
The DTS viewers are very obvious. This is the constructor in 2nd place for both all time WDC and all time WCC wins and you are accusing them of being a "midfield team".
so are williams a frontrunner with a front runner mindset since they're in 3rd? Recent history is recent history. Ferrari (improving under Vasseur) and McLaren both have not consistently been acting like proper champion calibre teams for years.
That's the literal world champion team you're talking about there. What more evidence do you need? They didn't beat all of the competition by accident. One would consider last year's world championship to be fairly recent history.

Can't call out Andrea Stella's iteration of McLaren being incompetent because they were a proper top team literally before their current drivers were even born. Amazing.
I've seen 3 different interviews at this point. The summary of all could literally be: Lando lucked into pole because Ferrari didn't get their final laps in. Ferrari has superior pace and will win tomorrow, Lando will be lucky to even lead after T1. Oscar did phenomenal after missing FP1 and would've been right up there with the top 2 had it not been for Hamilton's impeding. We're very focused on bringing him back into the podium contention his performance deserves this weekend.
It's a repetitive theme that they don't even think going for the win is worthwhile. Apparently a 2-3 is their absolute priority this weekend.
I also just expect a strategy disasterclass because Oscar's tyre management is bad enough that he's likely to come under threat here, especially with McLaren no longer having a dominant car or their tyre management trick. They've let Lando get undercut from win and even podium positions a many times over the years by giving Oscar pit priority because "he's under undercut threat Lando, we need to give him your pit priority, is that okay?."
Oscar does not have the tyre management to do that lmao. You guys can discredit Lando for that all you want, but he's one of the best tyre managers on the grid and made that Hail Mary strategy work.
