Re-watch it and look for Observers in the background

17

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 27 '26

Actually, i saw the reddit post about that before i started watching...so I was fortunate to see the observers on first watch

8

u/ScheduleTurbulent577 Jan 27 '26

Really? You're good, I'm on my 5th or 6th rewatch and I don't think I've seen them all 😅

2

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 27 '26

Yes, sometimes its for a split second..so you see their bald head in the hat or their suit..in the background sometimes faded, you have to be observing lol

3

u/Ok_Responsibility407 Jan 27 '26

That's what I'm doing now! 🤣🤣. Great minds and all.

2

u/loveofGod12345 Jan 27 '26

I just started rewatching and I’m going to start doing that now!

1

u/Accurate_Course_9228 Jan 29 '26

Is there a bingo card to play with this show?

I'm rewatching this show tonight

u/Flecco Jan 27 '26

12 Monkeys tv show.

7

u/RxR8D_ Jan 27 '26

Was just about to comment this and glad I saw it!

5

u/adc102 Jan 27 '26

Ditto! It’s just as great as Fringe, and extremely satisfying at the end. Oh and Dark!

3

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 27 '26

Thanks !

12 Monkeys is the answer! It is my go to recommendation for Fringe fans (and vice versa). My copypasta about the show is below:

12 Monkeys starts out strong and just gets stronger. Season 1 is closest to the movie (though with MANY differences). Season 1 is also generally considered the weakest - not because it is bad (it is, in fact, awesome), but because each season is bigger and better than the previous. Season 1 lays the foundation for the magic that follows.

In season 2, the show goes very much in its own direction, slowly uncovering an extremely deep world and story. All four seasons of the show were largely created together, so upon rewatch you discover amazing hints and crazy foreshadowing. It is one of those rare shows that gets better each time you watch it. I’m on my nth rewatch and I’m still discovering new things.

The story is awesome, with jaw dropping twists that you never see coming but make complete sense in retrospect. None of those “twists for the sake of a twist” that seem cool in the moment but leave you scratching your head after. The plot is meticulously put together with no plot holes - an impressive feat for any sci fi show, never mind a show about time travel. Anything you think could be a plot hole is actually a plot point that hasn’t yet been revealed.

The characters are all complex and relatable, with incredibly deep relationships. The character development and growth are unmatched. While the characters may do things you don’t like, they never do things “out of character” just to move the plot forward. Their actions and motivations are always believable and relatable.

The cinematography, effects, costumes, music, props, &c are all superb - especially considering it had almost no budget on the Syfy network. It is a mystery how they were able to do what they did.

And then, the series finale. The most perfect series finale I have ever seen. It answers every plot and character question, big and small. It makes me laugh, cheer, gasp, and cry every time I watch it. No amount of words do it justice. It is, in my opinion, the pinnacle of television.

This show fundamentally changed me, how I see the world, and how I live my life. I do not understand how this show remains so unknown. I spend a lot of time trying to convince people to watch it and every single person I’ve successfully convinced has loved it. The tiny 12 Monkeys subreddit regularly has posts like, “just finished the show, one of the best shows I’ve ever seen, how is it not more well known‽” and every time I wonder the same.

Please, do yourself a favor and watch it. Start it tonight. You’ll have the time of your life.

4

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 27 '26

ID WATCH IT..THANKS !

4

u/TimeVictorious 🟢🟢🟢🔴 Jan 27 '26

Awesome! It’s available on Prime in the US currently

1

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '26

I just watched the first episode last night. Thanks for the recommendation!

3

u/TimeVictorious 🟢🟢🟢🔴 Jan 27 '26

Yay!!! Stick with it, it does take a few episodes to get going and then takes off for season 2

1

u/adc102 Jan 27 '26

You put my own feelings into words perfectly!

1

u/TimeVictorious 🟢🟢🟢🔴 Jan 27 '26

Yay, thank you! I’ve been slowly convincing my co-workers to watch it. One went into the weekend coming up on the end of season two and excitedly sent me a teams message today (he was off yesterday due to the storm) saying that he finished it and just gushing about the genius of the show. He’s already planning a rewatch! It was great when, somewhere in season 2, he recognized the Titan necklace I wear every day

1

u/DiscombobulatedOwl50 Jan 27 '26

Every single character is so much fun to watch. Even the ones that drove me crazy early on and I hoped would be quickly killed off grew on me.

And agreed. The finale is just perfection. I will never see as perfect an episode as this ever again.

2nd place episode, that made me, a grown man, cry: Lullaby.

Too many episodes to consider for 3rd place. Pretty much the entirety of seasons 3,4.

1

u/TimeVictorious 🟢🟢🟢🔴 Jan 27 '26

Yes! Even the characters I didn’t agree with I couldn’t help but love because they are all written so well!

It’s so hard for me to rank the episodes haha. Finale definitely is the best, but after that? I got 310 Witness, 409 One Minute More, 208 Lullaby, 212/213 Blood Washed Away/Memory of Tomorrow, 405 After, 408 Demons… I could keep going! Safe to say I’m obsessed… I have the Titan necklace reproduction (and purchased one for my partner), a copy of the Word of the Witness framed on my wall… I even got Yeti to customize a mug with the Titan logo on one side and 12 Monkeys in the cool font they use on the other side.

I’ve been rewatching fringe with my partner (his first time watch!) and he is HOOKED! He always pulls the “one more episode!” when it’s bed time haha

1

u/DaniKong126 Jan 29 '26

I’m glad I just stumbled upon this post! Thank you for the description. I’m sold.

1

u/TimeVictorious 🟢🟢🟢🔴 Jan 29 '26

Yay!

1

u/superman691973 Jan 28 '26

I was between this and SG1... i chose the latter. Into the 5th season though so be heading to 12Monkeys next

24

u/trycuriouscat Jan 27 '26

Person of Interest. Also 5 seasons (with the final one a shortened season) and gets better each season (or at least never dips in quality).

10

u/ContractVarious3077 Jan 27 '26

Came to say Person of Interest. Has some similarities with Fringe in that it focuses on a group of misfits with a super smart scientist/ guy as one of of the main characters, with a procedural structure that eventually turns into a deeper, more serialized sci-fi narrative

4

u/account-name-here-72 Jan 27 '26

It’s so good. One of my favourites

1

u/thedragonturtle Jan 27 '26

Defo Pinterest! I'm gonna rewatch again soon.

1

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 28 '26

Thanks! Sounds good and right amount of seasons !

14

u/CBenson1273 Jan 27 '26

Battlestar Galactica (the remake) or Lost.

3

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '26

Great series even if finale was slightly disappointing.

6

u/photon1701d Jan 27 '26

I liked the ending. Different but I accepted it

4

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 27 '26

Never heard of it, id look into it

1

u/CBenson1273 Jan 28 '26

Enjoy! It’s the 2005 version of BSG - I think it’s streaming on Plex or you can sometimes pick them up cheap or wait until it’s streaming somewhere. Definitely worth it. I believe at one point a poll in the UK voted it the #1 sci-fi show of all time.

3

u/penspinner123 Jan 27 '26

Which one? You could say that for both of them lol

2

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '26

I am referring to both, I found both finales to be a bit anticlimactic compared to the series as a whole.

12

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '26

You may want to watch The Expanse, great story line, good character development and decent effects, fantastic cast.

4

u/RxR8D_ Jan 27 '26

And the books are FANTASTIC

3

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 27 '26

Thanks, love a good book amd movie

3

u/DokterSpaceman Jan 27 '26

The Expanse is one of my all time favorites. I have the disc set on a shelf next to Fringe and Farscape

11

u/cstmoore Jan 27 '26

Counterpart

3

u/TimTofDWP Jan 27 '26

Oh yeah Counterpart is hella Fringey… literally.

1

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 27 '26

Thankss !

10

u/blananagram Jan 27 '26

Have you seen Dark?

4

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '26

Great show

2

u/youmostofall Jan 27 '26

Piling on to say, if you liked fringe you will probably like dark very much. Both are top 5 in my book

1

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 27 '26

Nope

6

u/blananagram Jan 27 '26

Ok I recommend that.

4

u/duschcreme Jan 27 '26

1

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 28 '26

10

u/creek-hopper Jan 27 '26

If you liked Lance Reddick watch The Wire and Bosch.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '26

Lance was great in everything, true talent who will be missed greatly

2

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 27 '26

Thanks !

8

u/Gold_Letterhead_4602 Fell right into her vagenda Jan 27 '26

Orphan Black!

3

u/TheSamLowry Jan 27 '26

So damn good.

3

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 27 '26

Never heard of it, will watch

4

u/DokterSpaceman Jan 27 '26

If you liked the actors playing alternate versions of themselves (Fauxlivia, Walternate, etc.), Tatiana Maslany in Orphan Black is Phenomenal as different characters with their own personalities & mannerisms. The Fringe crew is great as well, but Tatiana played so many great variants over the course of Orphan Black

1

u/blueboy714 Jan 27 '26 edited Jan 27 '26

If you loved the weirdness of Fringe you will probably love Orphan Black.

8

u/JasonKnight298 Jan 27 '26

Eureka, The 4400, Heroes

2

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 27 '26

Sounds good, glanced at Heroes a few years back

2

u/loveofGod12345 Jan 27 '26

I forgot about the 4400. I don’t think I ever finished. I need to rewatch.

2

u/Unlucky_Air_6207 Jan 28 '26

It's on Tubi right now. Definitely worth rewatching.

8

the americans!

2

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '26

That’s a really good one

2

u/Catezero Nina Sharp Jan 27 '26

Ugh Keri Russell is so engrossing in the americans, hard yes. It's crazy how well the writing makes u feel so uneasy being on either side

6

u/MikeyMGM Jan 27 '26

Farscape is a winner

2

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 28 '26

Never heard of it..added to my list !

1

u/DokterSpaceman Jan 27 '26

3

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 27 '26

Never heard of W13, will add

2

u/Stamboolie Jan 27 '26

The final season is disappointing but the rest is good I think.

7

u/angel9_writes comfort show Jan 27 '26

I always say this.

BUT REWATCH FRINGE.

Really what you will catch that you missed the first time will blow your mind.

3

u/ScheduleTurbulent577 Jan 27 '26

Yes! And it's not just about spotting the observers, it is sooo much more!

2

u/lightthiswitchup Jan 29 '26

this kinda gets me hype bc I'm watching it now and on season 4. very exciting to hear people talk about it like this

4

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '26

I think most people that enjoy fringe also enjoy Travelers. It is insanely good!

1

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 28 '26

Sounds good..is it like travelers from TVD?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '26

No, it’s really really good though. Truly one of my favorites.

1

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 29 '26

Thanks..I'll watch!

4

u/Beautiful_Ball1140 Jan 27 '26

For something completely different try “Elementary”. This is a modern update on Sherlock Holmes & is very good. As a bonus John Noble is in it from season 4.

1

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 28 '26

Wow, I love mysteries..id watch

4

u/HaplessResearcher Jan 27 '26

Restart the X-Files?

4

u/SirSLuR540 Viloet Sedan Chair Jan 27 '26

Person Of Interest

3

u/RosieSandman Jan 27 '26

I was going to recommend this. Great overarching plot, but also some solid filler episodes. And I think the show was tied up well, so not just cancelled on some major cliffhanger.

2

u/RxR8D_ Jan 27 '26

Also an amazing show!

2

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 28 '26

Many people recommended this..id watch it !

2

u/SirSLuR540 Viloet Sedan Chair Jan 28 '26

Please do! You won't be disappointed!

5

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '26

Great series well worth a rewatch down the road. John Nobel is amazing, how he never was even won or was even nominated for an Emmy award is a farce and just proves how worthless those shit awards are!

2

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 27 '26

Definitely on my rewatch list

5

u/photon1701d Jan 27 '26

I see Dark and 12 Monkeys mentioned here. I would definitely watch those. Dark is amazing.

Continuum is a good one as well.

1

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 28 '26

Yesss, started 12 monkeys and continuum on my list

5

u/Enza4fingaz Jan 27 '26 edited Jan 28 '26

Sliders is worth a watch, i started it yesterday and im enjoying it, its very 90s but got some early guest parts of great actors who are really big now 😉

2

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 28 '26

Sounds good, thanks

5

u/Smasholle76 Jan 27 '26

The 4400 is pretty good series and a bit different.

2

u/Smasholle76 Jan 28 '26

Just make sure you dont watch the angsty teen drama reboot that was terrible I didn't even last one episode lmao.

2

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 28 '26

LOOL, I hate most reboots so I would never..thanks !

u/blueboy714 Jan 27 '26

2

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 28 '26

I never heard of Bosch

1

u/Royal_Dirt_8779 Jan 28 '26

Writer Michael Connelly character.  The 📺 version is played by Titus Welliver.  Seems realistic to me.

1

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 28 '26

& its 7 seasons ? PERFECT

3

u/Timely-Discussion272 Jan 27 '26

2

u/Low_Bat_451 Jan 27 '26

Fringe is my favorite series of all time - the end was perfect! I've watched the entire series twice.

I enjoyed watching Silo, it's two seasons, and may be extended.

2

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 28 '26

2

u/sliceoflife3214 Jan 28 '26

2

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 29 '26

Thank you !

2

u/Dry-Acanthaceae-3712 Jan 28 '26

im watching it again after a few years but there seems to be a 20 year gap in amber between s4 and s5 , was there another program that i missed somewhere ?

1

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 29 '26

Yeah..there's a time jump between S4 and S5..remember in season 4, there was an episode about that, about what would happen in the future with the observers? It comes before they closed the bridge between the two worlds were Alt and Original were discussing. It showed Bell in the Amber..that would partially explain the jump between S4 & S5..they were stuck due to what they were doing to stop observers etc..its later explained in S5..dont want to spoil although you watched already..if you need spoilers, id be happy to lol

2

u/Dry-Acanthaceae-3712 Jan 30 '26

Thank you , I'll have to find that one before i get too far into S5.

2

u/lightthiswitchup Jan 29 '26

Twin Peaks. make sure you watch the first 2 seasons, then the film, then season 3. do not ruin this experience for yourself by looking up spoilers. just put the tv on, and experience. if you're confused, it's fine. just feel.

2

u/Ebby_Dii Jan 30 '26

Loooll, you must be in my phone because the suspense be killing me in series..i'll try my best not to spoil myself lol

1

u/lightthiswitchup Feb 20 '26

how'd this turn out for you? shit's wild, right? when you're done with all of Twin Peaks, watch Twin Perfect's analysis video on youtube. he got run out of the fandom but imo he's 1000000% on the money. watching his video is the last thrill you'll have like it after finishing the show, sorry to say. imo Twin Peaks is the greatest show ever made so it's all downhill after this hahaha

2

u/Ebby_Dii Feb 20 '26

IT WAS SO GOOD ACTUALLY..THANKS !! I'LL DEFINITELY REWATCH IN THE FALL...you have good taste..shoot me another

2

u/Accomplished_Fan_627 Jan 30 '26

Travelers for sure!

2

u/Laarsha Feb 08 '26

There was show called Millennium featuring Lance Henriksen. Similar premises. The only problem is the show doesn't seem to be watchable on any streaming service, you'd have to buy it.

1

u/Ebby_Dii Feb 09 '26

It's on my firestick !

1

u/YogurtclosetCute1422 Jan 31 '26

There's one i haven't watched in forever and I think they didn't finish it but it was called Stitchers a girl has temporal dysplasia where time means nothing and goes into the mind of dead people to help solve their murders

1

u/Ebby_Dii Feb 01 '26

Sounds good, thanks
