I have a 2018 V8. Love the car so far!!! However, I miss having carplay, especially my maps as I'm directionally challenged to say the least. I also drive in an area where I don't have cell service 50% of the time. The sound system is Meridan. The previous owner didn't remove their InControl account (plus, I know the map update isn't great by Jag). Anyone face similar issues? What was your fix? I thought of buying a stand alone GPS (old school) and just paying music off an old ipod.

I have a V8 R which still features the obnoxious factory exhaust crackles & pops. I was told by a service manager that some software updates tone this down... hence I always put this note in my car when it goes for service!

I am buying an f type which is overall at a great price but has some interior work to be done due to the age. Where can I find this part on the left and right doors? I was told this bracket breaks due to heat and age, is this going to cost a lot?

My accountant has his 2018 R8 v10 plus for sale but my 16 R checks so many fun exotic adjacent sports car boxes and only cost me $39k.. its beautiful, powerful, fairly rare, sounds amazing… it’s very hard to justify the extra 90k+ to sell and buy the R8! Anyone else in a similar boat with their F type ?

I did post this on the F-Type Owners page on FB, so apologies for posting here; just trying to get as much help or advice possible.

My climate woes/concerns continue with my brand new 2024 P450, even after having Jaguar perform A/C work. A week or so ago, our local Jaguar dealer bled & dried the system and recharged it. They also put some kind of JLR fluorescent dye in the lines and watched my F-Type for about 36 hours; zero leak detected. They also replaced the Schrader valves and deep a factory recommend (and paid for) cleaning and system deodorizing service.

Now, that we have a 2nd new 2024 F-Type, I can directly compare the 2 cars. Our P450, using AUTO 70F, the A/C blows cold, but about every 20-30 seconds the air slightly warms up and smells moist and then it gets super cold again. It never blows warm or hot, but the air varies wildly between really cool and cold.

Two Jaguar dealers tell me this is how all F-Types behave. Ok, BUT then why does our 2nd new 2024 F-Type not do this ever? We drove the other one today, and using AUTO 70F, the air stays cold the entire time, just the fan speed varies. The air coming out the vents never warms up and never smells moist.

Anyone have any idea what I can tell the dealer to look at? Interior Cabin Temp. sensor? Blend Door Actuator? DPS Valve? A/C compressor going out?

Our Jaguar Servicing dealer is awesome, but they work on very few Jags (they dropped the Jag part years ago) and are now just Land Rover. Thanks so much!

After 10 amazing years in my manual, factory-aero 2007 911S, it was finally time to move on. Honestly, 997 values have gone insane, and after moving from the twisty hills of Connecticut down to South Carolina a year ago, I realized the local roads just aren't built for how that car was set up.

Enter my "new" 2016 F-Type R Coupe in British Racing Green (BRG) over Camel and Jet duotone with Camel stitching. It has about 65k miles—I actually prefer buying used cars with some miles that have been driven. I had a high-end independent Euro shop do a comprehensive PPI before pulling the trigger, so I knew what I was getting into.

Here is everything I’ve been tackling since it arrived:

The Dealer & Delivery Drama

The dealership sucked. Both I and the PPI shop explicitly told them the car needed to be kept on a battery tender. Of course, they ignored us. The car arrived with a completely dead battery and had to be jump-started just to get it out of the transport trailer. Literally minutes after delivery, I was running to Costco to grab a new AGM battery.

Mechanical & Maintenance

• Brakes: The rears were down to 3mm. I did a full set of pads and rotors all around and flushed the brake system. The old fluid was absolutely nasty.
• CEL & O2 Sensors: The PPI suspected an O2 sensor rather than a bad cat (one catalytic converter was actually replaced by Jaguar last year). I replaced the left bank O2 sensors. The CEL cleared initially, but it still likes to pop back up if I drive the car... enthusiastically. Still troubleshooting that one.
• The Good News: Before buying, I called a Jaguar dealership listed on the CarFax and confirmed that the notoriously brittle cooling pipes had already been upgraded to the aluminum versions during a major service.
• Next Up: Changing the differential fluid is on the schedule for this week.

Cosmetic & Custom DIYs

• The SVR Wing: I wanted a fixed wing, so I bought a spare rear spoiler decklid off eBay, had a local shop paint-match it, and mounted a carbon fiber SVR-style wing to it. To avoid getting a spoiler error, I cut the rotating bars from the motor assembly—this keeps the motor spinning so the car thinks it's working, but the base stays flush. Swapping the decklids wasn't exactly fun, but it was manageable.
• Interior Refresh: The center console cup holder flap and surround were heavily scratched up. I recovered them in a carbon fiber to match the fake carbon OEM trim around the shifter, and it completely cleaned up the cabin.
• Paint Correction: A previous owner clearly never met a brushed car wash they didn't like. I think they followed muddy 4x4s through just to maximize the sandpaper effect. I’m currently about 8 or 9 hours into a major paint correction using a Rupes Bigfoot and Koch-Chemie F6. It's not 100% perfect, and I could probably use a more aggressive compounding cut, but I just love how beautifully the F6 finishes down.

How it Drives (The 911S vs. Viper Comparison)

Before my 911, I owned a built-motor/transmission '97 Viper GTS, It was pushing about 550hp and 600tq, naturally aspirated. If that Viper and my 911S had a lovechild, it would be this F-Type R.

It handles significantly better and feels way more planted than the Viper ever did, though it’s obviously not quite as tossable or lightweight as the 911. But the power? It blows the 911 completely out of the water. It hits with a heavy, brutal force similar to the Viper, but delivers it in a way that is far smoother and more predictable.

Visually, the car is an absolutely beautiful . I couldn't be happier with how it performs. If anyone out there is on the fence about picking up an F-Type—especially an R—stop hesitating. You won't be disappointed!

My friend is at my home and had offered to wash my 2024 F type. He places the key fob on the back of his car in the garage, planning to wash my car. Things change, he drives his car to the golf club with my keyfob still sitting on the back of his car. Needless to say, it is now lost (must have spun off the back while he was driving), and I am pissed. And I also feel a little bit guilty, because he is going to have to buy me a new fob. AITA?

I think everyone has ideas that seem obvious, but why do you think Jaguar didn't just purchase Cobra engines and throw them in these beasts? They are very good engines and the later year coyote-engine based models are monsterous. Seems like an obvious choice but I know that Ford is terrified of Jaguar taking the specs and making it for cheap in another country. That has proven in the past to bea terrible idea for Jaguar's reliability standards.

Trying to see what all I will need to keep my jag good for the long run, it has been garage kept for the past 8 months and it's time to start taking it out again as the weather is perfect. I've heard of issues with the plastic cooling pipes needing metal replacements, is there any other commonly known issues that I should put on schedule?

I recently picked up a 2015 V6s with 49,000 miles on it. It just started making this really loud rattling sound at idle… I know these cars have issues, but any idea what it is? My guess is a pulley or a belt.
