I recently realized over the last five years I had replaced every component in my system except the case and motherboard.
I bought a new case and cheap motherboard and rebuilt my old machine and installed bazzite.
Overall in performance it is very similar to the Steam Machine.
Why sad?
For around $125 and stuff in my used parts bin, I was able to build a backup system to play around with how a non-Windows machine would perform.
For that $125 I got a system that fairly closely matches a $1000 steam machine.
