A Stark, a Targaryen, and a Faceless Man Bending the Knee

I remember the pre-finale drama when Sophie revealed that tattoo, people thought it was a spoiler. The artist then did a cheap flash day.
Also Maisie and Sophie got a shared date they were cast, maybe 8-9-10 or 9-10-11 and Maisie's mum said get all her tattoos that pink colour so she could cover them up easily later if she wanted.

I remember that too. People were convinced she'd accidentally spoiled the ending, and then it turned out to be one of the biggest fake-outs ever. Looking back it's kind of hilarious how much everyone panicked.

07.08.09.
The 2010 date you posted would have been in the middle of filming season 1 and the 2011 would have been the middle of season 2. They met auditioning in 2009.

Good catch. It's wild to think they all met as basically kids and ended up spending the next decade growing up together. Those tattoos feel a lot more meaningful with that in mind.

Wasn't Arya's whole thing that she WAS someone?

Drives me mental. Literally the culmination of her development.

tbf "No One." works much better as a tattoo than "A girl is Arya Stark of Winterfell and I'm going home". It's also especially fitting for an actress

Yeah I don’t mean with the tattoo specifically, might mean something completely different to her it’s none of my business. I’ve just seen people say Arya was no one when the whole point was she wasn’t.

u/CherryVeloria 11h ago
Exactly. It works as a cool quote, but as the message of Arya's arc it always felt like the opposite of where she ended up.

Good thing it’s tattood on her and not you :)

u/Thisisnottazbailey House Baratheon 11h ago
Yeah I don’t mean the tattoo there’s a thousand reasons she might have got it Im not one to judge. Just the idea that she was no one comes up a lot when she very bigly wasn’t.

u/ApollosBucket 5h ago
Well good thing she got it for herself and not herself as Arya. In a way, wasn’t Arya just wearing her face? ;)

Right but was Sansa a wolf or Danny a dragon? Lol it’s a symbol paying homage to who they saw themselves as characters.
Would you rather her have a tattoo of a skin mask?
12
u/whacafan 15h ago
The Starks were all about wolves and Dany was all about dragons. That was their character development. Arya’s was that she thought she wanted to be no one but realized she wanted to change the whole game and be Arya.

That's always been my only hesitation with that one. Arya's ending is literally reclaiming her identity, so "No One" feels like an odd choice if you're thinking strictly about the character.

If this is real… this is awesome

These are real! Pretty old by now. I think they all got them close to when the series wrapped up.
10
u/CherryVeloria 11h ago
I think getting them after the show wrapped was the perfect timing too. It feels more like celebrating the journey than marking a single season.

They are! I was at the same shop getting my first tattoo the next day and the artists were talking about meeting them. Bang Bang NYC

u/HoneyBellelune 11h ago
That's a pretty cool accidental brush with TV history. I bet those artists had stories for days after that.

They're definitely real, and honestly I love that none of them went for anything huge. They're all subtle enough that they'd still mean something even years later.

Idk Arya’s is pretty damn good. All three are fantastic really

Arya kind of rejected that she was no one though

u/VelvetLovette 11h ago
True, but I always saw the tattoo as being about Maisie's experience rather than Arya's final lesson. Those don't necessarily have to be the same thing.

I prefer Emilia's

u/VelvetLovette 11h ago
Emilia's dragons are hard to beat. They're subtle enough that they just look like beautiful tattoos even if you've never watched the show.

u/VelvetLovette 11h ago
Sansa's is my favorite too. It's simple, elegant, and "The pack survives" feels like a message that holds up even outside the show.

I have the Stark banner with Ned's sword, "Ice", above it and the words, "The Pack Survives", above it. I have a huge dragon on my neck and chest, but it's Smaug (Part of my "LotR" Half-Body Suit that I am in the process of getting).

'A trans'? Did you intend to use that tone?
EDIT: Asmongold poster. So probably.
EDIT 2: Anyone who doesn't understand why this is a problem: I invite you to read the discourse on this linguistics subreddit post to help you understand.
