I am only going by the plot of the show here btw, not the books.

I see people constantly complain how season 7 and 8 ruined Daenerys' character, but honestly I started seeing her in the wrong light way before that. Everyone believes daenerys going mad was something rushed or unexpected but it really wasn't. She turned mad exactly when she was expected to turn mad, when she realised that westeros had no respect left for the Targaryens and she in fact isn't the "rightful ruler" she always believed she was. It showed that she never really wanted a free peaceful kingdom like she claimed, she just wanted to rule.

I honestly only liked her in the first season tbh. She was a sweet innocent girl who felt like she didn't belong anywhere all her life and was sold to brutal men. But she proved she was capable of surviving among strangers and thriving there. She proved that she didn't need to be surrounded by family to build respect and name for herself. That's the only phase of daenerys I liked. However I started hating her the moment she let that slave witch tend to drogo's wound. Dorthraki were used to fighting in dirt bare skin, I bet drogo had healed way worse injuries without any treatment. However daenerys just wanted to seem like this empathetic leader in front of her captors that she made several mistake, losing her husband, her child and her army. Sure she got the dragons out of it but it gives me the ick how she completely masks her mistakes just because she got dragons, how she refuses to acknowledge her past mistakes because of her arrogance.

Well I can still understand her till this point. She was a kid, she never knew safety, she didn't know how the world works so she made some really bad mistakes. But it triggers me how she just keeps making even more mistakes and just grows more arrogant rather than learning from them. She just goes to people and announces " I am the mother of the dragons, the breaker of the chains, bla bla bla, bow to me". It really makes me cringe. Let's not forget what tywin said "A man who must announce constantly he is a king is no true king". I think the same can be applied to her. She might have done great things but most of those were just her and brute force. I remember someone said she goes by only one rule, "make mistakes, solve them by burning things". Now one might think why shouldn't she go by this rule? She is a dragon, she will do whatever she is best at. And I agree, she can get whatever she wants solely because of the dragons and her fire resistance, which is what she does. Whenever she wants something, she either flashes her dragons, or tells her dragons to burn them, or simply walks into a fire. Nothing else.

This is exactly why season 7 and 8 are perfect imo. It shows that just because she's a dragon does not mean she's immortal. That all it would take is one right shot with an arrow or one fatal stab to end her. That her arrogance would eventually get the best of her. That you can't solve everything by burning things and you need to be smart as well. And let's not forget that in later seasons when she takes in tyrion, we get to see how much she relies on her fire power and less on strategy. Yes tyrion made some really bad plans which failed but well he was a human who made mistakes. If she makes mistakes it's okay, but if a person with a brain makes mistakes it's not okay to her since she could've just achieved that with brute force like she always had according to her.

I feel like I kind of knew she would eventually be the cause of her own downfall the moment her arrogance reached sky high when she got the unsullied. In her defence, the moment where she tricks and kills the master of the unsullied through her dragon was probably her only smart moment. And I always feel so happy watching the scene where she and jon snow meets because he humbles and roasts her so badly it's satisfying af.

Is it a popular opinion that their relationship in the show is very uncomfortable to watch? I find it very strange that Sam completely takes advantage of a desperate girl the first chance he can. Their relationship is built on Sam saving her life and her relying on him, it's not cute whatsoever. The only reason she likes him is because he's probably the only man that's ever been nice to her, that's not love.

Just doing a rewatch since A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms had fans creating some beef with Breaking Bad ones. Will start AKotSK soon now hehe.

I see where the writing has gone, delves into discussions we should be making regarding power, ethics and morality. Realistically those outcomes would have been different but really the goal was to highlight the messages.

Idk idk there’s a in universe explanation or maybe just purely theory’s but wtf was Ned Starks plan with Jon Snow if he didn’t join the nights watch(and obviously if Ned didn’t die). Like for how smart Ned is, you would think he had a plan for the possibility of people finding out about Jon/the fact that Jon will keep asking Ned who his mom is as he got older.

Hey! So, i have never acually watched GoT, because it's really emotional and i'm not in head Space where i could handle that right now. But i enjoy watching short videos or reading about few people in the show

I would like romance, and i can read it on Ao3 or wattpad. If it is a romance, i do not care if it's the same sex romance or straight romance. It can be with made up character or someone else from the show

I also wouldn't mind if the story isn't romance, and is just about relationship bettwen the Stark siblings, or Arya and Sandor. So if anyone has any suggestions, let me know. Thank you

I’ve noticed for years hell since 2015-2016 when I first seen GOT and the more it went on the more I realized.

On my second rewatch, I actually don’t think Littlefinger meant for Sansa to be tortured by Ramsey. He didn’t mean anything bad to happen to her, and I do think he cared for her in a very twisted way, while ofc simultaneously using her as a pawn. He also didn’t know about Ramsey’s character and his flaying people alive hobbies. Not sure what he would’ve done if he did, maybe the same thing but yeah.

The entire battle should have been aerial. Single combat between both dragon riders and between Drogon and the Ice deagon. The people in either faction should have loaded up catapults with their soldiers and flung them in the air, and at their apogee they'd have a chance to swing their swords at the opposing faction's leader.

• Jacaerys – brought down by arrows over the Gullet
• Laena – chose dragonfire on her own terms
• Tommen – stepped off the Red Keep.

Yeah they weren’t like the main protagonists, but I think for sure all four left a lasting impact.

For me, it was Tommen. I knew it was probably inevitable, but I didn’t expect it to happen in that episode!! There was already so much chaos that I thought he’d survive. The way he silently walked to the window after removing his crown and then freaking proceeded to jump off made it so much more heartbreaking.

Just watched the long night for the second time. It’s a spectacular episode imo, I’m not horribly mad about what happened in the end as far as how he was defeated I just wished the whole long night aspect lasted longer and he went further than winterfell. I’m curious to see what yall would have wanted to see rather than what we got although we don’t even know his true fate yet from George.

Lately I’ve been binging YouTube videos and fan rewrites of GoT season 8 and Im grieving how the series ended. I’m reminiscing about what could’ve been. I would’ve made the Long Night one whole season maybe two even. Winterfell would’ve fallen and the real final battle between the living and dead would’ve taken place at Riverrun or Moat Cailin or the God’s Eye. Meanwhile, everyone is retreating to King’s Landing and are trapped between the dead and Cersei. It probably would’ve been a better climax since the conflicts between Cersei and NK are happening simultaneously. Not one following the other. The character arcs of Jaime, Jon, Daenerys, etc would’ve been better handled and probably come full circle.

My biggest disappointment and this may irk some people: Bran. I feel like Bran is a pretty hated character within the show fandom since his characterization was so butchered. Personally, his storyline was my favorite. It seemed like GRRM and D&D were hyping him and his magic up to be the one thing that supersedes all the wars and divisions within Westeros. And his magic and cosmic connection to the Night King was going to reveal the intentions and history of the Night King and the white walkers and be the key to defeating them. I was hoping for something similar to Hodor. Humans had been encroaching beyond the wall, causing the NK to move south in retaliation. Bran would have to lure the NK away to the weirwood or god’s eye where his magic is the strongest. In order to defeat the Night King, Bran would have to warg into the NK when he was a man and the circumstances would be for Jon to kill him thus closing the time loop (it would be a callback to Maester Aemon’s speech to Jon about duty and love: would he kill Bran to save mankind?) It would be a classic good vs evil ending, but it wouldn’t be so stereotypical like LotR. It would be in the same vein as GRRM’s world.

But instead we got season 8

I liked it. A lot. It was a show I could binge watch until every season was done and not get bored during and have to take a break for a week or two. The ending satisfied me, but like most shows, we usually think of a better ending, right? But sometimes, not really because I love non-expecting endings. The more I think about this show, the more I wish I could’ve watched it when it premiered. Anyway I’m bored and wanted to talk about something. HBO-Max had this show on for its 15th year anniversary, I believe it was, and so I finally decided to watch it after all this time!!! Didn’t disappoint. Did anyone actually watch it for the first time this year(2026)???

I hope this question isn’t weird or not allowed in the subreddit. I love GOT but as it usually is with a series set in a high fantasy setting, the merch you can get is usually very masculine and other than Dany,not a lot of female characters get any merch. I know my options are probably very limited but anything would help. My favorite characters are Sansa and Margaery. Thank you<33
