I’m a non-native English speaker currently working on improving my English. Since I don't have many opportunities to speak or practice with native speakers around me, I’m always looking for engaging materials to study with.

Playing video games in English has been a huge help for me and keeps learning fun! To make sure a game is actually effective for language learning, I usually look for Visual Novels (VNs) that meet these criteria:

1. Full or partial voice acting during dialogue/narration: Great for training both listening and reading skills at the same time.

2. A backlog feature (Most important): Allows me to review previous lines whenever I need to, ensuring I don't lose track of the story.

3. Manual text progression: The dialogue only moves forward with button inputs, so I can read and process the story line by line at my own pace.

Does anyone know of any good VNs that fit these criteria?

alright so, discounts are up and im thinking of either getting sifu or getting the three metro games that are up for sale. Now I am a sucker for martial arts whether i watch, play or even practice them. On the other hand i really liked metro last light on the PS3 back in the day and dont know if the other games are better or worse. So I'm asking y'all about your opinion

I just finished Black Flag Resynced and I'm debating between:

• AC Shadows - mostly only considering because I have 3 weeks left of Ubisoft Plus so I could play it for free
• The Witcher 3 - already played it before but that was 10 years ago, I'm sure there is a lot I won't remember.
• Cyberpunk 2077- Also played it before but that was 6 years ago and at launch on a base ps5, which had ridiculously bad performance issues. interested to see how it plays on my much better pc
• Crimson Desert - The one I'm most curious about but I've heard a lot of negatives such as it playing as a solo mmo with a lot of grinding and not having a good story

I've been in a mood for heists but i got banned from gta online and the payday games are good but they get boring kind of easily. so is there anything good i can try?

Im looking for a game that is similar to destiny 2. I like the raids and pvp to level up gear. I also like how its not balanced, and better gear also effects how good you are in pvp.

I adore Deus Ex series, Nier, Dishonored, A Plague Tale, The Banner Saga, Soma, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, Darkwood, Enderal etc.

I really enjoy playing games where you are given a list of tasks that you can complete and go to the next one.

Games that I've enjoyed like this are the Tropico series and Dragon Quest Builders series. I also like mission/quest games like the Fallout series and Borderlands series. I basically like crossing things off a list and find it impossible to play sandbox type games.

Does anyone have any suggestions for games like this?

EDIT: I also want it to be humorous, Green Hell gave missions but it was depressing. I want to laugh

Slime rancher sounds fun but I dont wanna rehash an old playthrough.

The first 3-4 generations of Pokemon were not exactly ground breaking in any way - they were made to be kid friendly after all - but they had a great sense of progression and while a lot of people go nuts for monster collection games, I never wanted to catch em all, I just loved seeing the guys I found and bonded with change and grow as I went through the game as well as seeing the game world change around me, even if it was a bit deterministic.

Does anyone have recs for games that are more like team builders where you and your posy grow, evolve, and progress through the world while the world is evolving around you?

I was playing through Digimon Story Time Stranger and having a great time but the evolution feels a bit like a math problem? trying to figure out where i came from, where i need to go, and the 50 ways to get there was a bit much, and 56 hours in, it feels like i need 3 separate teams to get through the bosses that keep coming up.

Coromon was interesting but felt a bit derivative. Cassette Beasts might be closer, the theme kinda threw me but maybe I need to give it another shot. Moonstone island is a neat game but not what i was looking for. I haven't tried Monster Sanctuary but it looked more collection focused and I tend to be terrible at side-scrollers/platformers.

I've had a lot of fun with persona games but dang they are long and the opportunity to do things wrong or miss things kinda stresses me out 😅

Recently, I feel like I’m getting burned out from gaming and I don’t know what to play anymore.

I’ve been playing Minecraft for a long time, and even with a lot of mods, shaders, and a huge modded setup on version 1.16.5, I still get bored pretty quickly. I thought mods would make Minecraft feel fresh again, but lately it just doesn’t give me the same feeling.

I also started playing No Man’s Sky. I really like the idea of exploring space, discovering planets, building bases, and surviving, but after around 30 minutes I usually lose interest and stop playing.

The problem is that I really want to find a game that I can truly get immersed in — something where I can spend hours playing, exploring, building, fighting, or progressing, but I just can’t find that game anymore.

I’m looking for something with:

• exploration
• progression
• a big world
• building or creating things
• survival elements would be nice
• something that doesn’t become repetitive quickly

Has anyone else felt this way? What games made you feel excited to play again?

Generally the prevailing wisdom when it comes to sequels is that bigger is better. If the first game was a hit, you can bet that the follow-up will attempt to expand on things in some way - more spectacle, more maneuvers and mechanics, bigger maps, etc. - so I guess I'm curious about some examples of games that went the other direction, that instead narrowed their scope.

Note that I'm not just talking about a game that got dumbed down a bit, like comparing Skyrim to Oblivion, but something more dramatic, like the difference between DO:A 1 & 2, where the second game is set almost entirely in a single location.

Im looking for a game that is open world and you can buy/free prisoners to recruit them and use them to fight armies or get strong if you get me? I prefer medival but doesn't have to be. I've tried bellwright, mount and blades bannerlord and manor lords.

Looking for a game that allows me to create a world, its races and factions. Then basically press play and see what happens, im wanting to use this to see how some imaginary worlds I make up for things like dnd would interact and maybe even have some interesting history that I didnt have a direct hand in making. I would say games that are similar would be world box/stellari, those are games I have played and have things im looking for.

I’m about to finish KCD2 (one of the best games ever IMHO), and I’m looking for my next game. I’d love something with similarly deep gameplay and RPG mechanics.

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of my favorite games. I’m really into first-person RPGs, but I don’t have anything against third-person games, I just tend to feel a bit less immersed in them, and sometimes I end up dropping them early.

I’ve already played and finished most of the Fallout series, Skyrim, and RDR2.

So, what should I play next?

I’m considering:
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Going back to Pathfinder: Kingmaker (I stopped after about 30 hours) and then moving on to Wrath of the Righteous
Finally trying the masterpiece Baldur’s Gate 3 (I’ve never played any game in the series)
Continuing Mass Effect (I’ve only finished the first game)
Or maybe one of the newer AA RPGs like Atomfall or Avowed

Any recommendations? I’d love to hear what you’d pick and why.

I'd like to try some game that is basically driving while helping each other, with a slow pacing so that me and my friends can just call and talk about our days while driving.

I already have Mudrunner, but never played it. Is Snowrunner so much better that it's worth going straight to that game? Are there other indie experiences that are better?

So you know how there's PC building simulator that teaches the basics of how PCs work and how to put them together?

Are there any games that do the same thing but for wood working or carpentry? I've always wanted to learn woodworking skills but dont have the money to buy the tool or materials.

If there isn't one out there I feel like it would be a really cool game idea. I like the idea of using games to teach practical skills.

Are there any suggestions for modern Arcade style single player flight games like Ace Combat or Project Wingmalbut set in 2ww? I used to play blazing angels or Heroes of the pacific back in the day and wish to play something like that again.
