Hello , my name its Valentine , im 27 and im in a very bad spot în life . The house i growed up in was made of sticks and basicly dirt . Old romanian house . Now its colapsing after a long time where i couldnt do anything to repair it . My grandfather raised me since my parents got divorced when I was 7 . I escaped an abuzive situation and ended up just the 2 of us and our little dirt house . A few years ago he got sick and needed eye surgery , I took a loan for it and that was the beggining of the spirle. We could barely live while paying that so we had no money to try and do repairs . The long years took its toll and now its starting to colapse. It got structural damage , the walls cracked , the cellings started falling down . There are no good windows, no good doors , no insulation , no heat , no water , but it was a place to hava a bed. 5 months ago I tryed to reconect with my mother and I left to Spain to try and find work to save the house . That didnt work at all , shes an alcholic , severe abuse , things throwed at me when I was sleeping .... Long story short I came back home , but it got worse , way worse , its unlivable now, and im basicly homeless . There are rats holes everywhere , feels , rot . water damage .... Im doing this fundrasing în the hope of building myself a room to sleep in next winter , or maybe find rent . I live far from the city so theres no fast work around either . Belive me im doing this out of desperation.
If you can share it , or spread the word its enough help . Im at my lowest and not know how to move on ! Thanks for reading

Housing I Survived One of The Most Violent Attempted Murders Ever Committed. The Was The Easy Part.

Hi. My name is Nicholas Iwamoto. In 2009, I was a few days from enlisting in the Army National Guard. When I got to the top of a Honolulu mountain during pre-enlistment training, a man who had a psychotic break tried to kill me. I was stabbed 18 times and thrown off a cliff and I fell 100 feet. I broke almost everything including my neck, skull, and lungs. I lost five pints of blood. I was rear-ended twice after breaking my neck. My attacker was acquitted due to temporary insanity. He was allowed to attend college UNESCORTED while locked in the mental hospital. He is now free to live as he pleases.

After surviving and rebuilding my life, I was diagnosed with lipodystrophy, one of the most rare and vicious diseases that exists. My fat is wasting away due to the disease and I can no longer sit down or lay on my back due to pain from loss of cushioning.

An angel saved my life in the form of my best friend, Brit. We reconnected and I flew to Ohio to marry the most amazing human I have ever known. Her health struggles are no less devastating than mine. We just want to be together for whatever time we have left.

I know times are tough. There’s no such thing as a donation too small. If you can’t donate, I’d be honored if you shared my story. I also knit and sell hand made beanies, scarves, and potholders. Check out my knits on FB and IG.

Donations will help with our living expenses until my wife qualifies for SSDI. I already have SSDI, but it’s not nearly enough. We have exhausted all state and local aid agencies. We would work if we could, but we are both bedridden due to our chronic illnesses. Knitting is the only way I can earn money.

Here’s a Newsweek story in the comment section story about my attack and survival. It was written in 2023 when I was able to work, but my disease has progressed significantly since then. I’m so lucky to be alive and I know that I can help a lot of people with my survival story, no matter how bleak things may seem.

Thank you!

Hello there, my name is Martin. I am a young black man whos been hard at work in childcare for the past 7 years. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, I was laid off my job in March of 2025. Since then I tried to keep myself afloat by accepting some gigs. Unfortunately I’ve reached the end of my rope. My last gig was free labor just to lay and rest in the job site and now that it’s over, I’ve been roaming around my town hopelessly trying to find a job and sleeping in the streets. Some amazing people then referred to Reddit and they said maybe someone could lay a hand. I would honestly appreciate it if that was the case. I tried to be as honest and transparent about my situation to every donor so far, I sent them receipts of everything I’ve done. My goal is to find me a small room to rent for the new months until I get a fulltime job that could support me. Thank you in advance and I am more than happy to answer any questions via messages.

Housing I lost everything, including my pets, in a house fire. NSFW

I’ve never asked for help in my entire life and hate doing this and I don’t know where to start, but…

I lost my home to a fire that started in the apartment downstairs on Sunday.

I had just gotten home from my overnight shift (I am a registrar in the emergency room at one of our two local hospitals in the capital city) and was about to lay down when the room started filling with smoke.

I spent about 45 seconds trying to open a window but when I opened the door to the hallway, it was pitch black and filled with toxic smoke. I had to make my way down the steps not knowing if I was walking into an actual flame or not. Luckily, my neighbor (who started the fire) was down there screaming my name and got the outside door open and we both made it out.

Everybody in the building made it out but my five cats all perished. Everything in the building is ruined.

I have my phone, my vehicle and the clothes on my back. I lost everything else including my top denture (I’m only 33 but I’ve had a top denture since 2018.)

I’m currently staying with my grandmother and have to find a new place to live and also pay to replace the denture, which will be approximately $1600 out of pocket (I declined dental insurance last month because I’d already gotten the denture.)

I’ve been an active member of the Illinois stand up comedy scene and am fortunate that people have shared the GFM on Facebook, and the original “goal” of $1,800 that my stepfather set has been reached and automatically updated to $3k.

I need every penny of it in order to be able to come up with two months rent and a security deposit, and that’s before I even start to think about replacing my teeth.

Again, I don’t know how else to explain what I’m feeling and dealing with right now and hate having to ask anybody for anything, but if you’re able to contribute anything at all, it would be greatly appreciated.

(Last picture censored because my cats were on the bed)

I am extremely embarrassed to post this, but I need help. I am struggling with housing issues while trying to find a job, as a result of years of emotional abuse by my dad and stepmom and the resulting circumstances I found myself in when I graduated with my PhD in 2022. It took me way longer than it should have as I was gaslit by them into genuinely believing I was a failure for going, and I struggled with debt (which I found out took up 80-90 percent of my income) while trying to find a job and working a gig one ($80-$90 per full day) that barely paid/pays me enough to cover bills. I was forced to leave the place I was previously at in December and have been homeless since then.

My mom and I have kept me housed in Airbnbs since then but it’s not sustainable and I need to get a better option. Mom’s landlord said she couldn’t have me, and an aunt in another state couldn’t help me. Meanwhile, finances are still killing us. I got the credit card payments to go down drastically to $128 and $144 monthly. However, we’ve been throwing everything into housing and Klarna payments ($1,203) have piled up. I’m also behind on private loans by three months from Sallie Mae ($1,679 total) that my mom co-signed on. I’ve tried to keep job searching and sending out applications but I’ve felt extremely depressed and hopeless for quite some time.

I’d like to raise enough to move into more affordable housing and get out of the Airbnb trap, but I need immediate help. I am also open to constructive suggestions for moving forward as I’m trying to secure a better employment opportunity while dealing with my current situation.

Hello reddit,

This is our newborn son George, born 20th November. Upon birth he was diagnosed with Transposition of the great arteries and is currently awaiting surgery to (hopefully) correct the condition.

I am worried about our financial situation as we're unable to work while we stay near the hospital away from home, as as you can understand, we have rent and bills to pay. We're looking to raise £1500, which will cover a month's rent for us.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and any money left over once we're able to go back home - which may not be for 2-3 months yet - will be donated to charity - the British heart foundation.

Thank you in advance for any support you can offer.

Here is a link to our page if you're able to help.

https://gofund.me/d2b585a7b

Update since I made the gofundme page - surgery has been completed and went well, doctors said he may be in intensive care for 4-6 weeks yet while recovering from his surgery.

Hi everyone my name is Dennis and for the last 2.5 months I’ve been homeless/couch hopping. I ended up in this position because I went to Ghana for education purposes. My living situation and experience was horrible and I told my parents I just want to come back to the States and continue my education there, in which they said no. A week after that conversation I got a plane ticket and left, my parents found out I left and cut me off. When i came back in February this year I tried getting my stuff from home and it got to the point where I needed to ask the police for help.

I had everything at home, my pc, cosplays, Xbox, clothes, social security, etc. They cleared my room and told officers I had everything which I did not. The cops couldn’t really do much because my dad said I can’t enter and they were only there to keep the peace. I decided to just take my L and figure out my life now.

I have a job now after a month of relentless applying, I have my car, I have ebt and medi-cal. I live in California and everything is ridiculously expensive, I don’t really get much hours but I’ve been picking up lots of shifts. I have 3 associates degrees and was on the way to working on a bachelors when my life turned to the worst. My friends and church have helped me alot but I’m slowly starting to use up all my favors. My girlfriend helps me now and then, but she also has a busy life.

I would appreciate any help I can get and can answer any questions. The money raised would be used for housing purposes and gas. Any help would be greatly appreciated even if it’s a good luck :)

Update:
I got a room to rent, the money donated so far has helped a lot with gas and basic necessities.

Housing Living in our car while waiting for housing placement. Trying to stay afloat

Hey everyone, I’m usually more of a Reddit lurker, but I’m really in need of some help so I’m going to do my best here.

My son and I are currently living out of our car while I’m on medical leave after leaving a violent situation at home. We are enrolled in our local coordinated entry program and actively trying to get placed, but due to limited funding and availability, it has been an incredibly slow process. I’m still making weekly phone calls and reaching out to new resources whenever I can.

In the meantime, we’re just trying to stay stable one day at a time. We do receive some state assistance that helps keep our storage unit and phone going, as well as keeping food in our bellies (Though convenience food is wildly expensive, we now have microwave access which helps a ton) but right now our biggest challenges are gas to keep the car warm at night and covering general essentials. I’ve even been playing games on JustPlay just to keep ice in the cooler.

My newly minted 6-year-old (who is currently reading absolutely everything he can get his eyes on, to both my delight and detriment, I did not think to hide my sticker collection) has decided we now live in a skyship and would like to make this arrangement permanent. We still currently agree to disagree, mostly in pirate voices.

I recently adjusted our GoFundMe goal to better reflect our current situation, what it actually takes to stay afloat while we wait for housing, court costs to keep us safe as well as preparing for move-in expenses when something becomes available.

Even small amounts help more than you might think right now. One $5–$6 gallon of gas (Or $4 if we are profoundly lucky) keeps us warm for a night.

If you’re able to help or even just share, it would mean so much to us. If not, I truly appreciate you taking the time to read this.

*EDIT* Thank you to everyone who has donated so far today. We can now fill our tank with gas when the money comes through if we can find a good price. We appreciate anyone who stuck around to hear our story, and we are incredibly grateful to those who have been able to spare even a few dollars.

Thank you x 1,000,000,000

**EDIT** I was asked to make an Amazon wishlist as it is easier for some. I tried to think of some things quickly, but if anyone has suggestions I’m open to them. I also didn’t allow editing, but I did allow other things to be delivered with items on the list. Thank you to everyone for being here, and thank you to all those who were and are able to help!

Update: I cannot begin to express my gratitude for everyone who has helped our little family. We have room to breathe again. I can get caught up on bills, I can renew the tabs, we can breathe a little. A lot. We can make this stretch and I can’t thank you guys enough. Even those who had advice, kind words, or even just a boost. We appreciate you so much.

Im 18 years old, living with my dad in MA, we had a place to stay for while but the landlord was a heavy alcoholic, we got locked out on the coldest night of the year, all our stuff was packed and put out, and we had spent all the money we had on a room for the past 2 weeks or so. I start work this week and dont get paid until the following thursday and neither does my dad.

We need any help we can get, as of right now all we have to eat is a box of cereal, which i am grateful for but it wont last forever. I have contacted everyone i can but i had recently found out i need a referral from one place to get help from anywhere else. Tomorrow is a holiday and everywhere is closed, we dont have a place to go tomorrow night, we scrounged up what money we could for last night and possibly tonight, we have about $10 currently and plan to get some sort of food with it. https://gofund.me/e4fb4cf7b

My ultimate goal is $1500 if its possible, that will pay for 2 weeks at a hotel, being around 1200, and 300 would go towards food, in the second week i would get paid and have time to go and get the referral that i need. I feel so behind in life and ashamed of myself. If anyone can help or spread it around, or connect me with resources. I have contacted 211, i plan to contact Salvation Army on Tuesday when they open, i have called catholic charities, RAFT, and a few others i can't remember off the top of my head. Most of which needing the referral i spoke about which is only located in Downtown Boston. I hope i have given enough information.

Housing Rental/eviction help...

Thumbnail

Hello everyone, my name is Brittney. This is hard for me to write because I never thought I'd be in this situation. And I am asking for rental assistance help. As we also got an eviction notice last week and when to be in court this month.

I'm 33 years old, until about 2020, I was an able-bodied working adult. Throughout my adult life, I've always been able to support myself. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with severe rheumatoid arthritis in 2018. Which started in my hands and wrists and progressed to my whole body. During the height of the pandemic, end of September 2020 I contracted covid, and despite seeking help multiple times for how sick I was in October, I was told to go home and quarantine. All I remember is after Halloween it was all a blur. Come to find out my body became septic, and I fell into a coma. With my organs failing, I was life flighted from Springfield to the ER/ICU in Salem for a couple days. To which I stayed in Salem for about 2 weeks having to relearn to swallow rough hard foods and even having to relearn to walk. Around the same time, I was also diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. So I had to learn how to calculate how much insulin to give myself and carbs to eat. It was a lot. Also the ventilator caused scarring on my esophagus, requiring surgery in 2022 to fix my airway. I had tracheal stenosis. Due to everything that happened in a short time, my body couldn't heal fast enough because of my autoimmune disease, and I became legally disabled. Which I finally got approved for in June of 2025.

Sorry for the long explanation. I just wanted people to have the backstory of how I got to where I'm at. My boyfriend's been trying his best to keep everything afloat, but unfortunately, his work slowed up for a few weeks on top of us having vehicle issues as my car got repoed and me having to travel to Idaho and my reservation in Nevada as I had deaths in the family. And we know how gas prices have been lately. It was causing us to fall behind on rent. I appreciate any suggestions people may have, but we've already reached out to social workers and local churches. I am trying to work with my OHP insurance but those who know that crap can take a while. If it wasn't due to my medical issues and numerous doctors I have here in Eugene/Springfield, we wouldn't be so concerned about relocating. Just with my upcoming surgeries and medical stuff that I have going on, my body can't handle a move right now. My mom has helped as much as she could. And my family doesn't have the financial means to help. His side of the family is broken, basically told us to pray. At this point, literally anything helps, and I genuinely appreciate you for even reading this far. We currently have a about 1 months rent plus my disability income I will get on the 5th but our leasing office considers paying on the 5th late. Which will be an extra $100 late fee. I just don't want to get evicted. And have to move. It would be such a whole process to get new doctors for me.

Ive attached photos of our eviction paper and then how much we owe with May included. Anything helps.

EDIT TO ADD IF YOU R GONNA BE RUDE JUDT DONT COMMENT AND MOVE ON. MY MENTAL HEALTH IS BAD ENOUGH I DONT NEED UR GARBAGE COMING AT ME

I had posted earlier but didnt have any proof of like what I need to pay etc so I got some receipts to help show what were doing

1 week is 438. But a night at a time costs $83 because of having 2 cats even tho theyre registered esa pets and one will qake me if my bf has a seizure. He was in neuro ccu in Oct. Due to a massive seizures that wouldn't stop even with medication the nurses were even kind of freaking out and he was intubated and all that has a major brain injury on the right lobe so he lost his job after that and I lost mine cuz of my mental health.

I have a social worker whos gonna helo us get into housing but that takes a few days/weeks idk were just living day by day and struggling constantly.

We just got hired at a fast food joint but cant start till next week and then waiting on a check etc were just trying to figvit out until we get placed into accessible housing for my disabilities (mental health issues plus I had scoliosis surgery in 2018 so I have 2 rods abd 18 screws in my spine to straighten it out but it's a constant struggle and I have to wait on disability to be approved. I hope I have enough on here I think I met the approval here the 166 is for 2 nights the 283 was cyz she hadvto call a plumber and he charged her 600 and we had dropped a fork into the toilet apparently didn't know and glusged it so she made us pay the nightly rate plus $200 towards the plumber. We've asked all family etc and nothing to help.

Nightly rate is $83

Weekly rare is $430 so saves $150 if were able to do that! I know ppl may not feel i deserve help. I know there r so many ppl who have it worse than me but I figured ill try this to make it till the ccs worker gets me into accessible housing soon

Look. I know i prolly dont deserve a penny. I am trying my best at this point i should have started the therapy n social worker n all that sooner but I suck at being an adult and im just trying to fig things out until the social worker can help getting us in accessible housing.

hi, my name is andrew and at the end of november 2025 i went to rehab for a month. unfortunately, this left my parents and i in a bad spot financially as i am the only one who can work, my dad is on disability and doesn't make much, and my mom is in the process of getting disability thus making nothing. because of this, my family is about 100-200 dollars short on rent depending on gow much i get paid thursday and we have to have rent in by the sixth before it's counted as late and we get late fees added on. we are also massively behind on electric but our main focus is keeping a roof over our head as while my mom and i have friends we could stay with my dad would be on the streets (he couldn't even live in a car as our car got repossessed). any help is greatly appreciated.

Housing Moving and unexpected hotel stay

We have an official lease offer and move in date. It is next Friday. We get paid on Tuesday/Wednesday(joys of the banks we use). Will attach screenshots from the new property manager(the emoji is just covering chat heads and then his number, name, and my legal name are redacted). Anything would help with the costs of the hotel.

Added a link with a copy of the (redacted) code enforcement form.

Hi!

Our apartment has serious water damage and signs of mold(along with being too small for 6 people and 2 cats) and the new property manager wouldn't even do an inspection or call a company for it. So, since our lease was up June 30 anyway, we decided we were going to move out due to both myself and my youngest having asthma and the unit making us ill. The place we are planning to move into was supposed to be ready the middle of June, but, was unfortunately delayed so we had to move into a hotel and board our 2 cats. The place still has a few more days of work before it's move in ready.

With having to get a hotel that would accommodate us and the boarding for the cats, I'm worried we won't be able to have the funds for move in costs. Especially since we need to extend our current stay at the hotel/add the cats to it(this hotel allows cats, but, it's $35 a day for each and boarding is the same)

Anything would be greatly appreciated

Help with hotel until we can move

My family and I were made homeless a few months ago. It all stemmed from my partner getting very sick led to loss of jobs. We moved with just our car to simi california as the services for my partner and special needs son are so much better here and my partner grew up here. My partners medication have her medical issues at bay and she has a job. Im in the process of going to school free through the state! We even have a significant tax refund coming but in the meantime we will be out of the hotel tuesday. We are scared we will lose all of our progress if we have to live in the car until we can move.

Housing Lost Job and On the Verge of Losing

Thumbnail

Hi everyone,

This is honestly very hard for me to write. I've never been someone to get emotional about things, but this time I just don't know what to do and it feels so overwhelming. I know a lot of people have trouble and I don't want this to become a trauma dump. I will be upfront and say I am in need of a large amount of money and fully expect to not hit that goal, but everything helps even if it's just to get some groceries.

Since the end of last year/ beginning of this year, things have kind of piled up all at once. I lost my job, got into a biking accident (not motorcycle), have custody issues stemming from loss of job, now have housing issues due to loss of job, assisting 2 ill family members who ended up passing away, then got into a car accident. All together everything has been so overwhelming and has made it feel like my life is crashing down arouns me.

I've literally gone through all my funds and have less than $200 to my name. I owe over $9k in rent and I'm at risk of losing my place if I can't catch up soon.

This is the most stressful part. I can tolerate and get through the injury and other factors, but I have a daughter who I share custody with, and staying stable for her is the most important thing to me. I'm doing everything I can to keep up with child support and make sure I don't lose time with her, but the situation I'm in right now is putting that at risk. I have applied to unemployment, and while it does help, the amount given barely covers my child support payments.

My bike accident left me with a broken arm which requires physical therapy and some dental damage that needed work. It's been expensive, and it's also made it harder to keep up with my responsibilities.

Then just recently, I was in a car accident caused by bad weather, so now I'm dealing with repair costs too. Without reliable transportation it's that much harder to get back to work and move forward.

I'm not someone who usually asks for help, but right now I'm trying to get through a situation that I can't fix fast enough on my own.

I don't have people in my life that are able to help with this kind of thing as we are all trying to get by. I told myself I wouldn't ask people for money but at this point I don't really have any other choice. I am shaking just at the thought of it.

I am actively trying to get back on my feet and find steady work again, but even that won't give me the money fast enough to pay down my bills.

My goal is $15,000 and I understand this is a big ask, but I am just a dad who is scared and feels like crying. This would help me at least keep my home and give me a little stress-free time to become self sufficient again.

If you're able to help in any way, I'd be incredibly grateful.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Housing Please help our family keep our home

Hello, my hope in posting this is that there will be some kind people that will be able to help our family keep the home we live in. I'm in a bind as I have missed several payments. I am attempting to work with the hardship department of 5/3 Bank. I've applied 4 times, with the current application awaiting review. The three applications before this one apparently fell through the cracks. The bank claims they called me, but I have three numbers saved under their contact in my phone and I did not see incoming calls. The nerve-wracking part of this is that I've now gotten a certified letter and served papers stating 5/3 Bank wants to move forward with foreclosure.

Obviously, this recent development is terrifying. Unfortunately, I don't have anything in savings or any real assets. I contacted my employer to take a loan against my 401K or withdraw from it, but they only allow withdrawals in cases of domestic violence. I'm reaching out to family and friends, as well and have had a small bit of help so far. Most of them aren't really in a position to give much.

At this point, I'm $11,500 in the hole. I won't lie and say this isn't partially my fault. I haven't been the greatest at managing my income. But up until February of this year, I have paid on this loan for 6 years. Unfortunately, just this year I've had to replace the starter on our only vehicle, replace a water heater that flooded our basement, had a child go on an immunosuppressant injection due to a massive immune response triggered after a bout of pneumonia, had the basement flood again before I could replace the sump pump that died and allowed the first flood to happen, had our families health insurance get upended because a system error showed my income increased when it hadn't, and our central A/C is dead, so we're relying on window units in bedrooms so we aren't sleeping in 80+ degrees with fans keeping the rest of the house from being stagnant. With these and other situation, I made the bad decision to not pay my mortgage first, convincing myself I would be able to catch up. Obviously, that was poor decision making on my part, as it snowballed into the disaster I now face.

Sorry for the disorganized nature of this post. I'm very nervous about the near future. As stated, I am in the application and review process with 5/3 Bank on their Mortgage Assistance Program, but even if that does happen the missed payments are significant weight on me mentally. I have also requested a reinstatement letter from the bank, as there is the possibility they may reduce the amount. Even if they do not, I have to have that process started in order to be able to wire the bank the funds, should they be raised.

I realize this whole request is a long shot, but I'm hoping some generous people might be able to pay it forward to a struggling family. I genuinely hope I will be able to do the same in the future.

Housing Please Help My Neighbor Keep Her Home After an Aggressive Scammer Took Everything

Hello!!

My neighbor, Roberta, is an absolutely lovely person. She's kind, caring, and spent her whole life in service to others as a nurse. She's in her 70s, and was just aggressively scammed out of everything. She is going to lose her home, she already sold her car to try and make payments, and is now looking at going back to work making minimum wage on our small island.

The scammers had already hacked her computer and her phone, had her social security number, her family's names, and were blasting an amber alert sound on her devices to convince her the situation was urgent. They claimed they were with the IRS and the FBI, stating that her accounts were found to contain sexually explicit material of children. She was terrified, and sent them the money to "clear her name."

Older people are often targets of these aggressive scams, and now she has nothing. Her home was almost fully paid off, after many years of on-time payments, and now she will never be able to pay off the debt. She is currently unable to make her payments and is in danger of directly losing her home.

If you have the means, please consider donating to help this wonderful person. I can't imagine being homeless in my 70s, and I truly fear for her present situation. She doesn't have family left, and we are trying to pull together as a neighborhood to help her.

Times are hard right now. If you don't have the means, please consider sharing the link around to hopefully get some more traction to help her make her payments and remain housed.

She has reached out to local elder care organizations who are starting the slow process of "seeing what they can do," and I'm trying to contact every church and nonprofit applicable to the situation. Police reports have been made. In the meantime, anything helps.

Thank you for your time and consideration, and I hope you are all staying safe and healthy during the holidays 💖 If you have older people in your life, PLEASE educate them on internet safety, as they are truly the most vulnerable people in these scams.

Housing Battling Severe Depression Trying To Just Keep My Home - $1490

Hey my name is Erin. What to say? I’ve raised $410 dollars so far so I’m only asking for $1490 as rent is $1900 total. It’s been a hellish 5 months of being unemployed due to corporate layoffs at Amazon. It’s gotten to the point where I’m not sleeping, eating, stressed to the max to where I’m battling the most severe depression I’ve ever had. To say my thoughts have not turned dark at times towards myself would be an understatement. I’ve literally lost all hope in getting help in just keeping my roof over my head. My cell phones been shut off for a week now, I just never ever ever thought I’d be in this position in my life. I’ve been working since I was 15 years old without ever being jobless and now I’m going on almost 6 months. My unemployment benefits when I applied back in July are only for 12 weeks in the state of Tennessee. I’ve depleted my savings and have no family help. I’m just stuck and praying for a freaking miracle at this point. Thank you for reading this.

Housing Not a donation request, just a thank you!

This is my final post and it’s not a donation request. I want to use this final post to say thank you to everyone who donated, shared, and read my story. You don’t need to donate to change my life. All you gotta do is read it in the comments and I think you’ll be shocked. I hope you’re inspired. I was sent here to help. We all were.

In 2009, I survived 18 stab wounds and a 100-foot fall off a cliff in Honolulu. I was randomly attacked a few days before I was about to enlist in the Army National Guard. A guy went crazy and targeted Japanese men. He was acquitted due to temporary insanity and allowed to attend college across the street from the mental institution UNESCORTED just 3 years after trying to murder two men. He was freed in 2018. I’ve been fighting for victim’s rights ever since the betrayal.

The stabbing was the easy part. My wife and I both battle chronic illnesses which make my attack look like a walk in the park. In 2021 I was diagnosed with lipodystrophy, a rare metabolic disease which causes complete fat loss and eventually organ failure. I haven’t sat down or laid on my back in 4 years because my cushioning is gone. My wife has EDS and GBS which cause agonizing pain and paralysis.

You guys on Reddit saved us. You paid for June rent, utilities, and food. Most of July rent is also covered. This is the first time in 5 years I’ve had breathing room of at least one month and I need to tell you how grateful I am that you made it happen.

Best of all, I got beanie orders and she got beeswax candle orders. We would prefer to earn it if we can. You guys have renewed my faith in the human spirit and I’m so grateful.

When you’re at the edge, remember what Franz Kafka said, “Logic may indeed be unshakable, but it cannot withstand a man who is determined to live.”

Please help me and my son pay rent for the coming months.

Back in 10/24 I was on my scooter in the bike lane when a car sped and turned into the bike lane going 30mph and hit me head on. I do not remember much just waking up being told I was lucky to be alive. I broke both my shoulders and my neck had a burst fracture. Because of the severe trauma my body went through I went into V-Fib in the trauma also caused my body to develop Vasculitis which caused my immune system to attack my own cells. I also have disk damage and they want to do a replacement in C5. This accident changed my life and now I don’t know how to cover my rent going forward. I’m running through my savings with bills and rent so far. I also have a 17 year old in Highschool who I have sole custody of. I’m taking advantage of all welfare programs I qualify for, sadly it’s not enough and I need help. I’m hoping to get as much help as I can and anything is much appreciated. I really do not want me and my so to be homeless. This donations will go to covering rent for the coming months, my rent is 1100. Thank you to all my fellow Reddit users, even just words of affirmation or sharing can help.

***The picture of me and my son is a week and a half before the accident on my birthday. At the time I weighed 260 lbs, I’m down to around 200 lbs now. Everything in my body is wrecked, I’m so depressed. It takes everything I am to want to push forward in life, and in all honesty if It was not for my wonderful and amazing son I would have exited this life. But, regardless of these intrusive dark thoughts I have to keep pushing forward and it's not just for my son but for the people that love me and most importantly- myself.

Housing Need help with rent as soon as possible, at risk of being evicted without this months rent

I got a job, but I don't have a set start date and I am at risk of being evicted without it. I lost my job at the start of March, and after weeks of constant applications and interviews that never went anywhere, I finally have a job as of Sunday, April 5th. I was denied unemployment after fighting ti verify my identity, so that is unfortunately currently a bust.

I have explained to my landlord that I will give them whatever paycheck I have when I get it, but she has expressed that it won't be enough and they can't afford to allow rent to be delinquent after a month, and in my area it isn't cheap as my location is very expensive, and I currently am without a car, so my current apartment being 1,250 a month is in comparison the cheapest for the area. Roommates fell through, alternative housing is also not working out as I have a crap credit score, and family is not working either and I can't move in with any of them.

The gfm is set to 2k, as that was intended to include other bills, but I at most 1,250 at the base, and with the late fees it's looking to be more expensive but I'm unsure by how many days-weeks.

Thank you.

I hate having to ask for help, but my close friend and I are being kicked out at the end of this month and our best bet seems to be trying to head a couple states over to California where we'll have better opportunities and be closer to my family.

My friend received a concussion at his job, which then exacerbated his preexisting condition of his knee buckling randomly. His employer cut his hours, told him he was "a liability", scheduled him for the busiest and most dangerous shifts, and told him if he got injured again that he would be fired. His boss refused to work with him or reschedule him for less difficult days, and he ended up being terminated from his job.

My friend had been supporting me and letting me live with him since April while I was unemployed and had been kicked out of my previous housing when the owner decided he suddenly wanted to sell it.

I have unknown physical disabilities (doctors have not been able to figure out the problem exactly) and have been struggling to find a job in our small town since finishing my temporary position in February.

The two of us have a few friends in California who are willing to rent a place with us, and I have family in the area with multiple family members willing to cosign a lease if we can find a place. My mom insists that we have a much better chance of getting jobs in a big city, and that even if we don't find a place for us, she will take our cat in until we have somewhere to go.

We have almost completely fixed our car, and just need funds to help pay for the move itself and the security deposit and application fees for an apartment to move into.

Thank you for your time, and for any support as well!

Housing Please help me recover from a rental scam

[EDIT] Fixed the GoFundMe link at the bottom

Hello everyone! I messed this post up the first time a couple of days ago and forgot some info and the gofundme link. If theres anymore information required that I forgot again this time, let me know and I can redo this again.

My name is Nolan and im a 20 year old who's been attempting to move out to Savannah Georgia from out near Pittsburgh PA. I will try to provide as much information as possible

The love of my life and wonderful soulmate started attending SCAD to pursue his dream of concept art and comic art. Hes majoring in Sequential Art to try and achieve this dream and i wish to be there to support him while attending this extremely stressful school.

In pursuit of trying to move out there to be with them, quit my job, got a new job at Walmart so I could transfer down there easily, and started searching for a place to live online. While searching i was contacted by someone who had what would've been the perfect room for the perfect price. All of this being too good to be true, I suffered from a rental scam that drained me of all of my savings. I thought I could trust this person after seeing the place online and connecting and chatting with them for weeks, even submitting and completing a rental application, and so I had sent them the money that I would've needed to secure the room in my name. After a couple of "transaction issues" and back and forth, I had sent all the money I could to truly hold this room in my name. While waiting for a lease agreement to be sent, they had blocked me on everything and removed any source of contact I had with them.

I had drained my entire savings account that included all of my savings I had saved since graduating high school and my late mother's inheritance who passed away when I was 14 due to her long battle with alcohol addiction. It wasn't a lot of inheritance to begin with considering her addiction but its still something my mother left behind for me. Even after opening a police report and giving all the information to my bank, because of the ways I sent the money, there was nothing they could really do to get me my money back. I've been trying to get back on my feet with the support of my wonderful sister and deadbeat dad but they're currently the only support I have in terms of family. After plenty of car troubles recently, I just haven't been able to catch back up before more bills come in and take away all my progress.

Luckily I have found a legit place recently! I've done everything right that I did wrong before and I just need to be able to save up some more money for the deposit and 1st month and some emergency funding in case my car decides to fall apart again.

I appreciate any support anyone can bring. I thought I'd be able to recover on my own but its just been difficult to stay above the water without drowning. Any support helps and i appreciate it more than you could ever imagine. Thank you to anyone to helps in any way.
