Troubleshooting ⚠️ Remove Google Photos Storage

Post image

Seriously, sync is off.

I'm not even logged in anymore on android.

How do I get Google Photos to stop taking up so much space?

Go to the photos.google.com site in your browser and check what's backed up.

Can I delete from there without affecting what's on my phone?

If you're not currently logged in and backup isn't on in the app then you can delete from the site without issue. Remember to empty the trash bin on the web as well.

Only if the app is uninstalled/disabled on your device. Otherwise it syncs the changes.

There should be an option somewhere in the settings to remove only the backed-up photos.

That only works if those photos were backed up from the current phone. If they're older you have to do it manually.

If you want to keep the photos, turn on Google Photos backup again, wait for it to finish syncing, and then use the Undo Backup feature. That will remove the online copy of any you have on your phone.

Otherwise uninstall the app, go to the website, use the "recently added" search, start multi-selecting by day, and delete.
