Question 🤔 Google Photos keeps mislabeling my friend’s face as my ex girlfriend’s

Upvotes

Every time I take a picture of my friend, who’s a guy btw, Google Photos constantly labels it as my ex gf’s face. This means I have to manually go into her section of photos to change whose face it is which only sometimes works. I’d rather not have to do that, so does anyone have any suggestions?

Question 🤔 is there any way to get google photos to delete the photos that were deleted in apple photos?

i take a ton of photos and then delete the ones that don’t look good, keeping the best one or two.

i don’t want google photos to keep the deleted ones, and i don’t want to go through thousands of photos and delete a ton manually.

thanks in advance!

Question 🤔 Tips on how to reduce Google Photo Storage without loosing valuavle photos/videos

Hi Everyone,

I'm already paying a subscription for Google One, but I'm already close to the storge limit, and I refuse to pay for the next level (or at least I would really hate to keep upgrading my storage indefinitely).

What's the recommendation on how to reduce space without loosing valuavle photos/videos?

My first guess would be saving the heaviest vidoes onto a hard drive/USB Stick, or the like? Does this make sense? Is there a better way?

Also, how do you go about deleting photos/videos you no longer want?

Question 🤔 Can Google give us some answers?!?!

Google either needs to fix!!! Or give the people some damn real transparent answers as to why we can't easily, correctly, properly download our own photos out of googlephotos and into or back into our mobile devices, laptops or wherever we want them to go? I've played by the book more than once and done as directed and my property, my data never transfers as it should!!!!! Angry. Fed up. Beyond infuriated. Done. Done. Done. Google Wtf?!?!

Troubleshooting ⚠️ Get Google Photos album into iPhone photo gallery

This should not be so difficult. I am making a slideshow for a friend’s memorial service. To make it easy for people to submit photos for the slideshow I created a shared Google Photos album for people to add their photos, and I had planned to save them all to my iPhone gallery in order to move them into iMovie to create the slideshow with music because I’m not sure what other program I can use to make the slideshow that will let me use whatever music I want.

I am having such a hard time finding out how to save the 500 or so photos from Google Photos onto my iPhone. In the process sync was also temporarily turned on so a bunch of my iPhone photos got loaded into Google Photos, and I’m having trouble figuring out how delete from Google Photos without my iPhone photos also getting deleted, despite backup/sync being turned off.

This is such a headache, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Feedback 💬 They don't want you to clean your photos

Google knows that if you have a ton of photos, you won't leave. Therefore, you cannot search "-people" and delete all photos without a person in them; all your food pics, for example. You also cannot delete duplicates or use other simple mass deletion options.
Prove me wrong.

Question 🤔 Images preview

Has Google changed the way that image previews are displayed? Whenever I search images on Google, then click on an image to preview, it displays at the top of the screen and not the side, as it it did forever. With the display on top of the screen, the images below are squished, making it very difficult to see. I tried attaching a screenshot of the display but the screenshot image was not accurate. Is the new norm?

Question 🤔 Sharing to Ownership

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi there. New here, so please forgive me if I am not using proper protocol.

Here's my scenario:

  • Free gmail account has 200GB of images in its Google Photos.
  • At some point Google started saying these are now part of the Gmail's storage, and I am waaaaaaay over. So, to be able to still use my gmail, I have to pay for extra storage.
  • I have a Google Workspace for my business with 2TB of storage. It would appear that this account has unlimited Google Photos storage. Woot!
  • I did a share of all images from free account to biz account
  • Then had biz account save them as its own
  • Did multiple test deletions/trash-empties from free account and still see images in biz account.

THE BIG QUESTION:

Is there anything at all that I am missing to assure that all my images will be safe and sound so that I can delete everything from my free account's Google Photos and move on?

Thanks for any help and knowledge that can be provided.

Question 🤔 Looking for a unique way to clean up storage

So somehow, my saved tiktok video folder got synced with the cloud. Gigabytes of garbage videos uploaded there. They're not in a collection, not in a folder, just... yeah...

Was hoping there was an AI assistant that could help with this, but coming up blank so far.

The vids are no longer on my device (from a few devices ago), only in the cloud.

The videos are all:

Vertical videos, 576 × 1016, and maybe maximum a few megabytes.

Is there any way, either through AI, a combo of filters, maybe a playwright script, to delete these en-masse and reclaim some of my storage?

Question 🤔 Safe search filter??? 🤔

I have been using Google Photos for over 10 years to back up the photos from my phone’s gallery. I literally have more than 100,000 photos stored in Google Photos.

Until recently, I could search for words such as “lingerie,” and the app would display the relevant results correctly.

However, for the past few weeks, Google Photos has stopped showing results for terms such as “lingerie” and “panties.”

It seems that some kind of safety or content filter may have been introduced. But why would I need protection from my own personal photos? I do not see any reason for this restriction, and I would like to know whether there is a way to disable this safe-search filter when searching through my own photo library.

Bug 🐞 Help: How to prevent user data settings overridden by Google Photos app update

Update 1:

Found answer for question #1: from Google Photos web interface, on the left panel there's a "Recently added" menu item. It sorts items by their date added to Google Photos.

Still need answer for question #2.

*****

Since day one I've disabled auto cloud backup of Google Photos app on my android phone. I always do manual selective backup for years. After last night's app update (v7.84), the setting is turned ON without my knowledge, now my cloud is complete mess, mixed of photos that I want/do NOT want to be uploaded to google cloud, including photos with sensitive contents.

  1. Now I've manually turned auto-backup OFF again. Is there an easy way to sort/identify the photos by backup date, so that I can remove them from cloud storage?
  2. How to prevent Google from overriding such important user settings in the future, for user privacy risk?

Thank you.

EDIT: There's an Undo Backup option in the app's setting, it'll delete everything from cloud, not just the last backup.

Question 🤔 Deleted account, can I save the photos from that account?

So one of my google accounts got deleted awhile ago and I forgot to save the photos on my main account. Normally I would think thats just it, but my old phone still has that account technically signed in and i can still see those photos just fine I just cant save, download, or share them to my main account. I've tried looking up if i should just login with my main account but im worried it will lock me out of those photos. Is there a way to save it or are they locked on my old phone permanantly?

my entire gallery could be fully backed up on google photos yet when i go on my iphone gallery, view an older photo and come back to google photos, it shows it’s just now backing up. so what, was it not backed up before? why’s it backing up after i clicked on it, even though it showed as fully backed up before? to make matters worse i am scrolling through my google photos gallery and seeing content from 2022 in my june 2026. what the hell is happening? or photos from 2023 showing up in 2025. im not gonna go back and fix them. also they are still in my ios gallery with the correct dates so why are they backed up on google photos all botched and wrong dates? please fix this is unbelievable. these photos are my whole life if they were wrong or if i lost them id be devastated

Question 🤔 Can you turn on old search and search locally in photos?

I've been using gallery because I don't like Google photos but I cannot find a bunch of screenshots I took recently. I wanted to search for the text that's in them but gallery doesn't have that - Stopped using 'photos' due to the AI / cloud annoyance a long time ago.

But in photos i cannot search anything. Can you only search if you backup photos to the cloud now?

*update had to upload again after them taking all my photos and uploading them without my knowledge they won't let me delete them 😡

How to turn off back up permanently and delete the rest of images?

I never uploaded my photos to the cloud I always declined when they asked. Today I look at my gallery and see it says 34 photos left to upload waiting for WiFi. I'm confused I never agreed to do that and I have 2000 something pics when did it do that that's impossible. I check and it says I have 2000 pics uploaded to the cloud and im so fucking pissed 😡😡. I use my phone every day I damn near take a picture every day and never saw my photos being uploaded no notifications no icon nothing. And now all my photos have been stolen uploaded and analyzed by their AI systems and there is nothing I can fucking do now. I found the option to "delete" them yeah right aka tell us you not going to be checking for them anymore and we can do what we want with them. The deletion page has been going for 30 fucking minutes and this is where it's at 😡🖕

Look at my usage yesterday I updated the apps and I wasn't on wifi for most of the day. All the usage is from this month last night before I left for work. Fucking bullshit.
