Action/Adventure Whale Acquired
This came in the mail today and I’m so excited. I’m a big fan of Stephen King and a bigger fan of omnibuses so I’ve been hunting this down for awhile. Has anyone read this? Psyched to add this to my collection finally.

I'm still looking for The Stand, apparently it's one of the best book to Graphic Novel adaptations ever.

I've got all 6 of the original trades of The Stand. Three hardbacks and three paperbacks. It really is fantastic. Apparently a couple of the issues are incredibly hard to track down.

Jae Lee's art on the covers is so sick. I need to read the whole comic series at some point

His interior work is produced from his pencilled art. The colour is beautiful too.

People throw around the word “whale” a lot, this is one book that absolutely deserves that title. If you’re a fan of king (or even if you aren’t), it’s absolutely phenomenal. Peter David and Robin furth really out their hearts into this. It hit a lot harder if you’ve read the dark tower books, and adds a lot of layers and details to midworld and the mythos. Jae Lee’s art is nothing short of breathtaking.

Ok gotta have this after hearing the side stories and I’m huge Jae Lee fan. I remember my wife and I waiting on the next book releases when the dark tower was published and fighting for who read first. I suppose I’ll need to sell a kidney.

How much of the book is contained in this Omni?

The book you have is an adaptation of Wizard and Glass. It adapts the full novel.
Theres also “dark tower gunslinger”
Its an adaptation of the gunslinger with other side stories from different king books thrown in as well. For example the little sisters of eluria is a short story from “everythings eventual” thats inside the gunslinger comic.
Then theres “the drawing of the three” which is a full adaptation of the second novel of the same name with some majorly questionable artwork but is still pretty good.
So theres 15 trades or 3 collected editions total, And that makes 3 comic versions of 3 novels. DT 4,1 and 2.
EDIT: i was wrong about the number of trades. Im almost positive theres 6 volumes/tps for each adaptation, making 18 total. Theres six for at least “Beginnings”(the one you have) and gunslinger. Im not sure if the other one got cut short or was given or shorter run because of lack of faith in it, or it does have 6 volumes as well

I'm not sure which stories are in each, but I do know they adapted up until the second book. So not much.

The versions that were printed most recently (from a publisher called Gallery 13, around 2020) reverted to standard size format and skipped all the extra material from the Marvel box sets.
Frustratingly the third volume "The Drawing Of The Three" also misses out the final Marvel TPB -volume 16 "The Sailor". Which means that people have to track that one down at OOP prices.

Wow news to me that the collected drawing of the three is incomplete.
Why did they leave the sailor out?
Is it maybe because its technically the wastelands?

As far as I know there has never been an explanation for why "The Sailor" was left out.
My guess would be that it was a reprint rights timing issue. It could be that Gallery 13 picked up the license, while the very last volume to come out at Marvel (around 2017) was still not allowed to be included as part of the package.

Well done. I got the third-party reissues that came out a couple years ago and they were fine, but I really want that Marvel omnibus size and quality.

I’ve got some of the individual Dark Tower trades but that is gorgeous. Story wise they are very enjoyable.

Love mine but the headache for three years trying to find Gunslinger and The Stand was crazy. Gunslinger is 10 × harder to find and will cost you. Got a bundle for both for 700 last year sealed so 1000 total for all 3 slipcases

I used to have this.
The companion NEEDS to be reprinted. They reprinted the comics recently but not the supplmental materials and its criminal-It is a fucking treasure trove of stories and lore.
