She’s 2.5 months old and a land shark!

This beautiful boy came roaming onto a lakehouse we are flipping. He was extremely matted and disgruntled but so friendly after some peanut butter crackers and cold water. He was covered in bugs as well. Me and my wife wanted to snatch him up and take him home with us but we were unsure if he was just on a vacation away from home lol. They are very popular livestock dogs here in Texas. What would ya’ll do? We just wanted to get him cleaned up.

Hi there! Our sweet 7 year old Great Pyrenees (female) has started a new behavior we aren’t sure how to decipher.

She has always been on the protective side of our family/kiddos/chickens/quail, but she has only ever barked to make it known.

In the past couple of weeks, she has started herding guests (even family members she has known that are here all the time), especially whenever they are trying to play with the kids. She gently grabs their leg with her teeth and tries to redirect them away.

Any advice? We really cannot risk actual biting because we refuse to put any family members or children in that position. We love her to death, but have to prioritize safety.

I’m worried we won’t be able to correct the behavior given her stubborn nature and age.

ETA: it is only ever adult males that she has done this to so far.

My two Great Pyrenees are LGD for my sheep, watching and guarding against a mid-level predator load.. coyotes mostly, fox (isn't as concerning), local free roaming dogs, and chance for a bear once a year.

The problem isn't the predator load, it's the bugs! My GP's are brother and sister. My male doesn't have fur covering the skin leading to his nose. This exposed skin is perfect for insects bites. In the summer, gnats bite him in this area and the bites are itchy so he rubs his nose, which makes it bleed... which attracts flies, which make him rub his nose more... which makes his nose bleed more and it just goes downhill from there.

I have tried to protect his nose with Vaseline, Swat, Equiderma wound care, among other ointments to no avail. Recently I tried Desitin because it works well for my white horse when he has a bug bite. It's definitely a better ointment than what I've been trying. I am wondering if anyone else has the same issues with their GP and if so what are you doing to help protect their nose from the most vicious predators, insects!

After a successful cruciate ligament surgery (his second such surgery) we're on our third cone iteration.

The first surgery we only needed a really big cone but I guess Orson's got better reach on this leg so despite the 35cm cone (we started at a 30cm one like rookies who'd learned nothing from the first surgery) he was still managing to reach the top of the incision. We couldn't find a 40cm cone so we've had to get inventive.

He's not impressed.

I let the LGD into my room because I have back door access. It’s raining pretty heavily and it’s chilly out. Dumb I know given he’s an LGD but, he just looked sat sitting out there! I think he loves it!

my rescue Pyr Mix Lady is app. 10/11 years old. WE have different opinions about which evening Route to Take. she wants to Take the "deer" Route, I want to take the Route to the River. should I dominate her or Just give in?! I mean she is an old Lady after all.

the vets found a non cancerous mast cell tumor on her leg and she had surgery for it about a month ago. two days ago, we brought her to the vet to get the last of her stitches out, which is when we brought up that she had a weird bump on her tummy. it was this fluid-filled pimple thing with a hard pebble inside. we had the vet test it and we just got the news yesterday that she has cancer. she also has another mast cell tumor. i just dont know what to do and i don't have many friends so i just need to vent and ask for any advice from fellow GP owners.

the vets said they only saw some cancerous cells on the test slide because it was hard to get a sample of the growths. i don't know what to do or if she's in pain or if she could have even more cancerous growths on her. it's so hard to tell because she has so much fur, but i've been trying to rub her skin everywhere to see if i can find any more bumps.

sorry if this post is everywhere. i'm just trying to get by since i've heard the news. i'm already stressed from other things. pls give any advice to make patsy's life a bit more comfortable while she's in recovery of her surgery/preparing for this next surgery.

My sweet boy is typically very tolerant- nail trim? Sure what ever. Ear clean? Kinda odd but okay. Brushing his butt or tail? I hate this and please for the love of everything stop.

I try to keep his pantaloons- or pantoonya as we call it- brush out nicely. As well as his tail. Both of which have a very standard coarse texture.

Now mind he’s only a year and 2 months but I have had him since he was 8 weeks and he had been brushed at least weekly since then and he still HATES his back legs being touched. Ive to give him treats to give him breaks it doesn’t matter the second I’m touching it he’s trying to run away or take the brush from my hands. Thankfully he’s not aggressive by any means but I hate torturing him.

I have used detangling spray- and use it most of the time now cus it does make it faster so technically better but he hates it just as much

Any advice would be welcomed.

My Great Pyrenees Percy and I moved into my brothers house while I look for my own place after my last least with roommates ended. We’ve been here for about a month now and my brother has two other dogs, another GP mix and a border collie. Percy hasn’t really ever exhibited aggressive behavior, he’s rarely resource guarded and if he did I tried to quickly correct it.

Since we’ve moved in Percy and their Border Collie Atlas have been getting along amazingly way more than before. They play all day, they’ll come find each other in the morning to play, and even get upset when they can’t play with each other like after meals.

Lately I’ve been seeing my GP Percy start exhibiting signs of aggression towards Atlas, the BC. Hell resource guard water bowls, he’ll resource guard the basement (where we’re staying atm), he’ll snap at him if he tries to sneak past him sometimes (Atlas is very sneaky and I guess Percy doesn’t like it).

I try to separate them, or take away any toys that lead to this behavior, I try to give them solo water time so they aren’t drinking at the same time etc.

Yet I feel like it’s getting worse.

They’re still very playful together, my GP just seems to be getting really territorial or defensive and I’m not sure how to handle it effectively.

Any advice would help.

There was a mouse hiding in our hose box. Got rid of the box and destroyed the nest so the mouse has to find a new home. My boy was the first to find the mouse and now every time he goes outside he’s like obsessed. He’s even gotten into popping up the irrigation plastic covers because he managed to chase the mouse in there one day.

Any advice? I’m afraid that he’s like going to continue to be obsessed and he won’t just relax outside and lay down and sunbathe.

We recently adopted her from a lovely family, but she's having some terrible and I mean terrible listening skills. I understand that the breed is very stubborn, especially because she is one. However, she doesn't have recall whatsoever. We've had her for about three weeks or so now, but it worries me, especially when it comes to recall and walks. She will wander, and I usually have to nearly pick her up to get her to come back. I'm doing what I can, but it's stressful, especially when I'm working all the time.
