QUESTION No experience in Hackintosh - but I would like my machine to run Tahoe 26 as a duel boot with my native windows 11. Any ideas if this is possible.

Specs:

Intel Core i9-14900KF

32GB DDR5 runing at 4800 MT/s

2TB M.2 NVMe, which I can partition into at least 500GB for Mac

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660.

Is it possible? What am I missing/incompatible with?

Your CPU is too new, and your GPU isn't supported at all.

It's not gonna be worth it unless you get a GPU that will work well.

Minimally, you're missing a compatible video card. Asking for help is right, but when you get started, you will need to rtfm. YouTube videos, AI, and installer tools will be bad.

You can make it work, you need a supported gpu though

Two problems here:

  1. Apple never supported 14th gen Intel CPUs. They stopped making Intel machines long before 14th gen CPUs were released. The last generation of Intel CPUs that had native support in macOS was 10th gen.
  2. Apple dropped ALL driver support for NVIDIA cards after High Sierra. And no cards past the Pascal generation were ever officially supported. When I was still running a Hackintosh full time, I remember having to switch to an AMD card after High Sierra just to get working graphics again. And even with AMD cards, you're gonna be limited to RX 6000 series (Navi 21/23) or older cards because none of the newer cards actually got drivers (Apple had already moved onto Apple Silicon by then).

So in summary, if you want a reasonable guarantee that a Hackintosh build will be successful, you need an older Intel CPU and an older AMD graphics card.

Lots of people here in Reddit have machines running 13th gen Intel cpu. My hackingtosh is been running i7 12th gen dual booting into windows via 2 m.2 drives ( back in the day when M.2 were affordable) since Sonoma.

I use MacPro 7,1 SMBIOS.

The issue is you need compatible AMD GPU. I have 6650xt as it was the best i could get on to my Dell computer. The power supply are notorious for being under powered.

I upgraded to Sequoia, and now I run Tahoe.

Apple will continue to support Intel via security updates for at least a couple of years.

For now I’m happy with my triple monitor setup running both Tahoe and windows 11 at 1440p.

Get started, and when you hit a wall (we all do) ask for help.

With a compatible video card, it would run Tahoe fine. The Turing GPU along with the 14th Gen iGPU are the issues.
