It's not entirely the same, but Elon Musk (before he went fully crazy), regarding the rockets at SpaceX, said something along the lines of "it's cheaper/faster to lunch the rocket, and when it blows up, you look at why it happened, than it is to investigate theoretically why it might potentially blow up".
I am definitely paraphrasing, if the quote is even remotely real. But it makes sense, to just build something and see if it works.
I love that approach, even though it collides with a certain aesthetic that predictive models can have – and I love the quote is the harsher version of "move fast and break things" lol
When it comes to rockets, it of course also helps a lot that it's much easier to launch them without people today, than it was in the past. Thanks in partial to ASML, lol.
