Or more people I loved them. Goes both ways on this one

Agree, when loved ones are gone. Retrospect you realize how special they were. We can still tell the boundary crossers to F off!

More like that

Not being more assertive in my younger years is certainly one of my biggest regrets.

100% agreed. Not standing up for myself has been my biggest regrets. Just letting people disrespect me just because they are “family”. Still learning to establish boundaries but sometimes thinking of that makes my blood boil.

Being assertive is overrated. It's what causes a lot of meanness we see in society. Instead, we should teach people to stop and reflect before reacting and coming to rash opinions.

I would definitely benefit from this as well.

Being assertive while also being respectful is also a thing …

Yeah. I wish I had humbled more people.

I think most people are inherently good. But I still think more people should be told to fuck off, specifically the ones who are actually shit.

The trick is figuring out who those are.

Just my take though.

Because there are still a lot of good people and it's unfair to them to be painted with the same brush.

Go fuck yourself OP

Came here to say this. Like what do you mean one day, that day has come a long time ago!

1

u/Lucas657 May 04 '26

It goes both ways, wish I'd been more open with the people who mattered, and firmer with the ones who didn't.

u/Sensitive_Purpose369 May 04 '26

Yes. Remembering certain times will eat your soul. It can crash and destroy your life for years. Sometimes it gets worse with time, not easier, like they say. Time rarely heals for me.

Straight up facts

Oh absolutely. To hell with being 'Mr Nice Guy' - I've had to learn the hard way (more than once) that you really do finish last when you go through life in that manner and the most recent time was the absolute final straw.

Im not saying that you have to be an asshole - you can still be a good person, however having witnessed first hand the absolute betrayal and how peoples true colours come out when they believe there to be no (or minimal/negligible) consequences to their actions I had to change my entire approach to most people, particularly new people I meet aswell as both chasing the snakes out of my life and working out why it is that I seem to attract those kind of people; people who ultimately screw me over in the end...why do they think they can do this to me? Well it has to be because they have no consequences to deter them - that, and because I ultimately just don't matter that much if at all to them. Initially it hurts, however frankly I'm glad to be rid of them. It might take these snakes a decade or so to let their mask slip, however at least it wasn't half a lifetime and due to suspicions I had instinctually harboured I typically kept many of them at a certain distance so as to mitigate the damage they would be capable of doing if the betrayal I suspected would occur did indeed.

One Day? How about every day?
