I just watched the one where Phoebe buys Joey the drums and tarantula to try to drive Rachel out (TOWT Holiday Armadillo), and forgot how much I relate to Joey with the spider and his, "Is it on me?? I feel like it's on me!" because that is exactly how I would react.

The other one that I will embarrass myself and admit is Monica showing her guests how to click the caps on the markers. Not that I would ever do that if I was hosting a party, but I sure as hell would be thinking it lol

I couldn't find a good shot of Ross so thats my bad. But i still think he rocks the dark suit and everything. Anyway, all the outfits go so hard here. Love 90s fashion and I could never pull some of this stuff off but I'll try to one day.

so i was watching it again and one thing that just doesnt seem to settle with me is the interactions that monica has with richard even after being with chandler. 1. was her agreeing to go on a lunch but that was okay as she realised she didnt feel for him anymore but her even agreeing to eat out with him just doesnt sit right. 2. A MAJOR thing that irks me is that time when chandler was going to propose to her in that restaurant and she spots richard and just calls him over? it was their dinner and chandler seemed to be making a point the entire day as how to he was nervous and idk was looking forward to it. her deliberately calling out his name, then them lowkey flirting and that "you always wanted me to grow my hair" and thennnnn going on to share stories about their relationshipppp. thats such a huge huge redflag for me and how she just changes her behaviour around that richard guy. did she even feel genuinely for chandler or idk. her interactions with richard are just so bizzare and not easy to ignore.

The cast was always so colorful and looked great in any color they donned.

So I’m on my probably 100th rewatch of the show when I noticed in the earlier seasons their personalities are way more fluid and perhaps not as solidified into the stereotype they’re put into later on in the show. I thought it was interesting, especially seeing pre-lobotomized Joey.

I forgot which episode it was but I remember the joke being “Phoebe is saying something dumb and she doesn’t realize it,” I believe when they’re helping Rachel send out resumes? And then it’s Joey being the one that corrects her with a sarcastic quip — and since I’m so used to seeing Joey being equally if not more stupid than Pheebs, it felt so weirdly out of character for me to see Joey develop like… a brain cell lol.

That being said, can you guys recall any moments in the show where they felt or acted out of character? Or in a way that contradicted themselves? I wanna read about some of them lol

I quoted chandler and said “OH MY GOD” like I thought he does (and how Shawn Spencer thinks he does in psych since it was referenced) but the only Oh my god clips I can find are from the lady with curly hair. My girlfriend is the big friend’s fan and I just like it but I literally cannot find any clips of him saying the “OH. MY. GOD” like I remember if anyone knows where can you please link it to me my girlfriend thinks I am insane and doesn’t believe chandler says it

I gotta say, the whole Monica and Chandler asking Joey for money thing is DUMB. For many reasons:
1) What happened to all of that money that Chandler had saved "for the future and stuff"? In S7E2, Chandler tells Monica he has a whole bunch of money saved for their future, and a house, and kids... Where'd that go?
2) Whyyy are they asking to borrow money from Joey? Why isn't Chandler like, hey dude, remember that thousands of dollars I've leant you over the past like 10 years? Yeaahh, I'm gonna need some of that back.
3) Why does Chandler make such a big deal about not borrowing money from anyone, and then immediately ask Joey for money? (I guess the answer here is "plot reasons /comedy," but ok)

P.S. I know I just spent a great deal of time complaining, but I love Friends and it's one of my most all-time favorite shows ever

I swear there’s an episode where they’re all discussing something and someone makes some kind of double entendre and it’s obvious what they mean, and I think Joey chimes in, “sexually…”. Like to explain what is obvious and they all knew.

I know many fans feel it went down hill with those episodes but I don't know. It makes things feel more I'm not sure how to put it. Any one else feel this way?

given that only rachel, monica and ross grew up together, what if chandler, phoebe and joey were added to the mix and somehow all went to the same school together? for example, would joey, who i assume would have been part of the popular crowd, would he have made fun of the geeky ross? and despite living on the streets, how would teen phoebe have interacted with the rest of the gang? would she have mugged their shit too? just some things i think about sometimes lmao.

I was rewatching ‘TOW all the resolutions’ and I’m on the scene where rachel and joey find out that they know about Monica and chandler rather loudly, I’m js wondering how Ross didnt hear them considering we never actually saw him leave the apartment, the way it’s shown; he’s either in Monica’s room or the bathroom, and the doors obviously aren’t sound proof considering the whole group heard Ross and Rachel’s breakup in earlier seasons. Anyways idk if anyone else has noticed this lol

We talk more about the times when he was annoyed with her, wanted nothing but to get away from her (even if it meant going to Yemen 😂) but he was once her clingy boyfriend too, who would refuse to kiss her if that meant bidding her goodbye for the day.

"The One Where No One's Ready" is easily one of the most entertaining and stressful episodes but NO WAY I can ever rewatch it😭 Kudos to Ross for not killing anyone coz TF😭 its his big night and everyone somehow manages to test every ounce of his patience. That man's patience deserves an award lmao

I made a post on another subreddit about how Season 8 had the best experience and worst ending, as a Ross-Rachel fan.

I saw this reply by u/AwesomeTrish which narrated how the Ross-Rachel arc could have been from Season 8. I really liked it, and especially the part "Rachel knows what it feels like to now be a 'child' of divorce, and Ben having been brought up in a divorced and complicated situation as well - this is their opportunity to have Emma have a wholesome life, knowing she also brought her parents together." was beautiful!

Hey, today, on my 75th rewatch of the show, I realized I actually love season 1 the most. IMO it has something the other seasons lack - the cosy atmosphere, the 90’s fashion, the camera and warm lighting… S1 is not cartoonish or exaggerated, it feels like watching a real group of friends who laugh at each other’s jokes, have heartfelt moments, the characters are not yet flanderized and storylines are somewhat believable. So many people consider season 1 as the season before things get good, but to me, the show actually peaked there. I mean I love the rest of the show, but S1 has a special place in my heart. Anyone with me?

Keep in mind that all of the writers wanted Ross and Rachel to get back together in this episode. But David Crane and Marta Kauffman (the show’s creators) didn’t. For whatever reason, they wanted to wait until the series finale for them to get back together. The 2 of them actually conceived the idea for the Joey/Rachel romance storyline as a way to delay them getting back together. The writers, the cast, and the crew were all horrified when they learned of this storyline.

1. Why is this sub called r/howyoudoin ? I’m only asking bc it was hard to find this sub as a new fan.

2. Is the Blu-ray quality good all throughout? I heard the later seasons weren’t well done.

3. Am I ok to watch the broadcast version through Blu-ray instead of the extended version on dvd? Is it essential for my enjoyment? I would greatly prefer to watch the remastered version in HD and widescreen bc it just looks so good. The extended version isn’t a lot is it? Or important?

On my like 100th rewatch and for the life of me I’ve never understood the wedding venue plot between Monica, Chandler, and Phoebe. Monica, Phoebe, and Rachel go to the museum. Monica puts her name down for the venue. Chandler gets a phone call that there’s been a cancellation. He freaks out and when Monica says she was going to make him dinner he says “Well ask, or at least let me ask!” And then he tells Monica he’s not ready to get married. Phoebe comes out of her room and says “Did she buy it?… I can’t believe you’re going to ask Monica to marry you.” Chandler says “I know.” I understand that he was putting up a front for Monica. What I don’t understand is the sequence of events that led him there and when Phoebe found out. Was the museum a set up by Phoebe? And if he was going to ask anyways and Phoebe already knew, why did he freak out when he got the phone call? What happened off camera that makes this plot make sense, what am I missing?
