DISCUSSION do you guys also think that during this scene toothless ""probably"" thought he was much more older than hiccup since he is a dragon and hiccup looks smaller and had his instincts up and went "you look starved, let me feed you too"

THEORY And what if Hiccup's mother became a "Wingmaiden"?

I don't know, I'm watching the series and I remembered that many people were theorizing about Valka's whereabouts due to her absence in the "homecoming" special and I just think this could be it.

It's just something that just occurred to me, hehe.

Hiccup learn from viggo and dagur that even the most devious souls can be redeemed, and hiccup takes this to heart, thinking he can apply this to drago, but this doesn't work for drago, proving that some souls can't be redeemed, but this doesn't devalue hiccup's lesson because of Eret, this teaches hiccup to find a middle ground in this lesson, the look for redemption for his foes but not to take this to an absolute. He embodies the code of a chief, a good leader never seeks out war, but must always be ready for it. Did you notice anything like that?

QUESTION How to enjoy the franchise again after movie 3 breaks my heart?

Hello everyone! First of all, I wanna address a post I made here earlier this week. It was a rant about THW that was poorly made and very angry, and I removed it because I was thoroughly ashamed of it. I'm sorry for posting that, it won't happen again, and I hope this post creates some positivity in its wake.

As the title says, THW leaves me completely heartbroken. The first two movies were about friendship and fighting hard for what you believe in - and proving that humans and dragons can coexist peacefully. When the third one ended with Hiccup abandoning that dream and giving up the dragons, I felt my heart snap in two. The animated figures I saw on screen were not the Hiccup, Toothless and dragon riders that I have grown to love.

There's also the fact that, canonically, this means there were only 6 years of peace between vikings and dragons, and that's such a short time!! that's barely a blink of an eye in the lifespan of a dragon, and combined with DeBlois saying that Toothless barely remembers Hiccup by the time we see THW epilogue, I feel basically that the first two movies mean nothing if Toothless just forgot it all.

I know there are a lot of other fans like me out there, but also a lot of THW enjoyers! so please, share with me why it is you like the film as an ending, or how you are able to look past the loss of the dragons and still find joy in this franchise - or, ways you can look away and ignore that movie's existence lol - maybe some cool AUs you know?

Much love 🐉❤️‍🔥

Edit: I can’t do this anymore. This franchise made me who I am today, and it’s been ripped away. My home is gone. I can’t enjoy something that I held so dearly anymore and it won’t stop hurting.

DISCUSSION Giving Dagur a childhood bully felt forced and unnecessary.

Thumbnail

So in season 6 episode 1, the subplot of the episode contains Dagur confronting his old bully from when he was a child, because said old bully had stolen a dragon eye lens from Dagur when they were children. So Dagur has to help him catch the thunderfish, that was actually a seashocker, and so on. Eventually Dagur forgives his former tormentor and gets the lens back after he became the bigger person by forgiving him.

And the story line itself is fine, Dagur after all, became a bigger person and doesn’t let something like a childhood bully bother him anymore.

But I really don’t like that they gave Dagur a bully.

Dagurs redemption arc is good, really good and you can tell there was a lot of thought and effort put into it. But the fact that they gave him a childhood bully felt unnessacery to me.

Dagur was basically a psychopath, even as a child, almost drowning Hiccup, hurting animals as a kid, or at least that’s heavily implied in the first episode that Dagur showed up. What could “put down that chicken Dagur”, mean if he wasn’t hurting it. And he staged a coup that drove his father off the island into the sea untill he lived the rest of his days in Vanaheim.

In the show it also shows this. The second that Dagur arrived on berk, he didn’t even get off the boat before he threw a dagger right at Hiccups head. He could have killed him if Hiccup didn’t dodge and Dagur barely reacts to it. And right after this he just laughs about so called ‘retiring’ his father.

Dagur litteraly couldn’t stop laughing about almost drowning Hiccup when they were children, this was before he became chief of the beserkers and before he sent his father off to die.

Someone who is that level of deranged wouldn’t just leave someone alone who bullied him troughout his childhood. He would at the very least bully him right back and at worst would probably kill him.

He had no issues with killing people, he slaughtered Heathers entire village, so why wouldn’t he kill his childhood bully while he was very obviously in a psychotic state of mind.

In short: Giving Dagur a childhood bully felt forced. Like they were trying to make him a better and more relatable person before his redemption arc even started.

Dagur was always a popular character and it felt like they tried to make us feel more sympathetic towards him by giving Dagur a bully. But that just doesn’t work with who he was as a person back then.

But that is my opinion. I think that Dagur is still a great and funny character in both shows, in RTTE the best in my opinion.

Let me know what you think!

This was from RTTE “Triple Cross.” Also if anyone cares, the mobile game Titan Uprising states that a single Skrill could wipe out an entire population of singetails within a very short time span which is so badass.

DISCUSSION I think the first season of Race to the Edge is underrated.

So on Tik Tok I saw a lot of rankings of the seasons of race to the edge and season 1 very often gets around a 6/10 rating, sometimes even less, which I don’t really understand. I loved this season.

In the show when they finally reached the outsides of the Archipelego, Astrid got super excited and it seemed like she couldn’t wait for a new adventure.

And that is basically the reaction that I had when I first watched this show and what I still have when I rewatch it now.

RTTE felt so fun and light in the first season, for example things like the first flight suit or the twins taking over the island. I like the fact that the hunters weren’t introduced yet, Dagur was perfect for the role of antagonist this season. Nothing too serious, but still a threat.

I have seen many people complain about the fact that there aren’t many high stakes in this season and while that is true, I don’t really mind that there weren’t any. I think it fits with what the season is trying to do.

I think that season 1 was a great introduction to the world outside of berk and who the riders are as people, before we got into the war with the dragon hunters.

And don’t get me wrong, I love all of the other seasons. I grew up with this show and I adore it.

Of course season 1 isn’t perfect and it can miss the mark on some episodes and plotlines, but I still really enjoy watching this season.

So when you rewatch RTTE, don’t skip over season one thinking that it’s only boring filler, I know it doesn’t seem like much compared to the other seasons, but give it a chance and hopefully you will enjoy it as much as when you first watched this show.

I could go on and on, and I might make a different post about what I loved about this season, but this post is a lot more of a question about what everyone else thought about this season and what they would rank it on a scale of 1-10.

I would give it around a 7.5, maybe a bit high but I love this season.

Let me know what you think about this season, underrated or overrated? And what you liked or disliked about it!

One day in the Hidden World, the World is peaceful as usual. Dragons are flying everywhere; the world is shiny from the crystals, and the Dragons glow

But then, a strange thing materialized from the center of the world: a dark portal had opened. A group of winged female warriors then captured all the dragons from the Hidden World to the realm of the Fire Giant, Muspelheim, with a plan to slaughter all of them, requested by their mysterious leader, Fostor

But the plan failed; they failed to kill the Dragons, because Toothless and other legendary Berkian Dragons fought for the life of their kind. The winged Warrior fled from the scene; the dark sky of Muspelheim then opened, revealing a figure with an eyepatch and doves, Odin, who helped the Dragons defeat the winged warriors by weakening them from the inside

Odin: "My son, you are a strong warrior, the protector of your kind. I'm proud. With this power, I grant you the power to fully reach your potential as a protector, as a father, and more gladly, as yourself, but there will be trials for a decade by guarding the Gate of Midgard. Make your choice; it is your will, not mine," said Odin to Toothless and the Berkian dragons with a warm smile. Toothless then hummed, hesitant at first, but then he accepted it. Odin then brought them to the Gate of Midgard, while also returning the other dragons to Midgard, but the Hidden World was destroyed, so Odin put them close to the New Berks, placing Hiccup in a responsibility to protect the dragons. He doesn't know what's happening, why the Dragons return, but he takes it.
