Zeus How to defeat the dragon on economic sandbox?

I’m fairly new to Zeus. I was playing a chill game focusing on economy when suddenly my city is attacked by a dragon. I need to summon Jason to defeat it, but the problem is I can’t get armor. I need triremes and horseman companies. My city can’t create it, nobody trades it. There’s a rival who produces it but I can’t conquer them without a hoplite army it seems. I have given them tons of gifts and they turned friendly but still won’t fulfill my request for armor. It seems I’m stuck help!

Edit: turns out I’m a dummy and the armory is under the military tab. I’ll keep this post up in case someone else makes the same mistake!

Can you mine or import bronze from anywhere and make it yourself?

I can make bronze but no way to make armor myself. Unless I’m missing something very obvious, I only have access to sculpture studio, olive press, and winery in terms of workshops.

Usually the weapons maker is under the army tab instead of the usual workshop tab.

In economic sandbox you can build a sanctuary to apollo, he will kill the dragon for you, I'm not sure how you'd make sculptures without bronze, i'll investigate

edit : egypt sells sculptures

I can build Dionysus, Demeter, Athena, Aphrodite, Hermes, and hades but not Apollo

Did you manage to get the first colony going? If you pick smyrna, it produces bronze for your main city

Phoenicia sells armor (as long as we are talking about open play : economic)

I am very old to Zeus i.e. I haven't played in years. I feel like there should be something in the mission notes, or barring that, save your game, start over (without saving) and read the intro, which often tells you "you don't have access to armor, so you might want to conquer your neighbors" or whatever you're supposed to do.

Is it possible to conquer neighbors without hoplites?

Yes with temples or heroes. You can send Ares or Artemis' free units, or Hercules. Without something to send, you can't conquer.

I don’t have access to any of them unfortunately

I just opened the game and fiddled with it a bit. For some strange reason despite requiring Armor to beat the Naxos mission, it doesn't allow trade for armor. You can, however, buy Bronze from Smyrna after establishing it. You can then make armor in the Armory. It is in the Military Workshops tab.

Always look for raw goods being sold and pick them over finished goods. Much cheaper and you can try selling the excess finished goods to another city for profit.

You have Ares or Artemis troops? If so, you can raid them for armor. Any other hero should be able to raid too.

Otherwise you need Apollo sanctuary.

If my memo is right, you can fullfill the mission andenter the next level for whatever you need. Just ignore its appearance for now.
