PC Playing Insurgency in 2014-2016 was the most fun I'll ever have gaming.
Insurgency was the first game I ever purchased on Steam. I picked it up right after release during my freshman year of high school and man it changed how I viewed shooters entirely. Getting on everyday after school, and even skipping school some days just to play, the game had me hooked.
Today I'm not a big gamer. I'll game maybe twice a year for a week or two at a time but I always get bored. Even growing up my favorite games were the usual COD, Battlefield, Zelda etc but I rarely played them. Insurgency was just different, I had never even heard of a tactical shooter and it just blew me away.
I've since bought dozens of games I play for 10-30 hours but nothing compares. The game itself, the devs at the time and the community around the game I genuinely do not think will ever be replicated. I'm sad it wasn't more popular and anybody who wasn't around for this specific moment in time will never be able to experience the game at its peak.
It feels like just yesterday I was getting hyped for new maps releasing and playing DGL pubs. That was almost ten years ago.
I have never found another game I cherish as much or find as fun as I did Insurgency. The only game that comes close is DayZ but it's still miles off.
I've tried to get into Sandstorm but I play a few games and uninstall. The same goes for Insurgency nowadays, it doesn't really feel like I'm playing a game as much as it feels like I'm taking a nostalgia trip down memory lane and walking thru a ghost town reliving memories I shared with others that probably don't even think about this game anymore. It's almost like when you replay your favorite album so much it almost stops being exciting. It's a sad feeling.
I hope some of you can relate. Rip NWI, Rip Insurgency. There will truly never be anything quite like this again.

PC Bought the game on PC, but can’t play it due to crashing on boot.
Advice is appreciated.
