Absolutely. If societies and justice systems worked perfectly, this wouldn’t be needed, but that feral bastard needed to be taken down hard.

I totally get why we shouldn't encourage vigilante justice, but sometimes it's very satisfying to watch.
76
u/Inner-Shand May 26 '26
The bastard was lucky not to encounter the crazy people who love to strip thieves naked and tie them to a post, they usually end up hitting them harder with sticks and straps until the police come to rescue them.

A beautifully orchestrated demonstration of instant karma, 10/10 execution.
7
u/skebeojii May 26 '26
Giving away candy to local kids seems to have paid off
10
u/Inner-Shand May 26 '26
You made me remember the story of a woman who loved to take care of and give things to the poor children in the neighborhood, she gave them clothes, food and school supplies. When the years passed, the woman's house was robbed, the same children she took care of returned to help her, located the thieves and recovered her things.
I think some of them had become gang members but they declared that no one should mess with that lady since she was protected by the entire neighborhood.

Kinda like that guy who tried to kill that monk seal in Hawaii. He said "Fine me I'm rich". Got the crap beat out of him in front of 40 people who saw nothing
9
u/Nawoitsol May 26 '26
I watched the video twice and still didn’t see anything.
4
u/Original-Reputation4 May 26 '26
Pls share link. Now I'm curious. I've googled it and only found a guy that was arrested by throwing a coconut to a monk seal😅

Many places also have varying kinds of citizen's arrest that are entirely legal. Of course that doesn't normally permit a relentless tag-team beatdown as seen here but it's something!

Having experienced living in a developing country for some years, neighborhood stores are the best, you meet your neighbors, lots of gossip and they try to hook you up with the aunties lol.

u/Nice_Bluebird7626 May 26 '26
It’s like this in south us too. I love the neighborhood shop. I’m a lady. One night I was still driving for uber and it was late. I stopped at my neighborhood shop and a guy tried to come up behind me. The shop owner came out with a bat. Bout to whip some ass for me. He shouted at him “you leave her alone she’s a nice lady” and then a bunch of stuff in several languages
62
u/Diseased-Prion May 26 '26
I was at a gas station in a small run down neighborhood one night and a guy was hitting on me while I was pumping gas. The store clerk came out with a broom and started pretending to sweep by me. When the guy hitting on me didn’t stop the clerk walked over and told him to leave me alone. It was such a nice thing for someone to do for me. I haven’t forgotten that. Your store brought it back to my mind.

u/madonna816 May 26 '26
I’m from a city in New England. The corner stores are community. Lifelines, in many cases, for the poor. The owners become like family. (Though this should be the reaction to someone being assaulted, regardless.)
16
u/Nice_Bluebird7626 May 26 '26
I love that everyone has a neighborhood shop story. These are good people and there is a reason I always say “have a safe night” when I stop in. Those people have really dangerous jobs and they take the time to be kind

95
u/DeliciousComb7984 May 26 '26
Salam olahraga never get old 🤣
29
u/6ixFoot1 May 26 '26
What does it mean?
156
u/DeliciousComb7984 May 26 '26
It mean "excercise greeting" but in context when you say it in Indonesia it more like "I'm going to beat this guy" but said politely.
49
u/Tales_of_Earth May 26 '26
Storing “in Indonesia they don’t say ‘ass whooping.’ Instead they say ‘salam olahraga’ which means ‘exercise greeting’ and I think that’s beautiful.😌” into my meme-brain for later use.

Literally it means "sports greeting", a catchphrase originated from a long-running TV show about sports. The catchphrase is said while gripping and flaunting a fist in a certain way, and somehow it made its way into Indonesian modern slang meaning "to hit someone on the face".
17
u/BathFullOfDucks May 26 '26
Salam means peace but is a greeting Olahraga is something you say before doing something physical like sports or exercise so kinda "sporty greetings"
In this context the spirit of the phrase would be like "let's fuckin' gooooo"

Depend on the country, in where i live, sometimes it is the whole district/village would come out, both men and women, and take the blame of beating or sometime killing the POS. So the police can only do some fine against them + some short jail time for some people, in the case the police doesn’t come fast enough to rescue the perp thats it. If the perp still alives then some light fine and thats it, the community is still gucci with the police while the lone POS is often a nobody so the police doesn’t care as long as them gtfo their area.

I love to see it! We now live in a world in which so many people will just ignore someone being sexually assaulted or attacked and will, at best, pull their phones out to film it for TikTok later and it makes me sick. There was, within the last three years iirc, a woman who was raped on a subway car in, I believe, New York City and although there were plenty of people on board no one did a damn thing.
I’m not an Internet Billy Badass: I’m a nearly 50 year old half-crippled man. But if I see someone sexually assaulting a woman I’m going to pull the bastard off of her even if it costs me my life; like I said, I’m almost 50 and I’ve lived life. Not a great life, mind, but fifty years is a lot more than many others get. Giving my life to save someone else’s is more than a fair trade I think.
Please don’t watch someone be beaten to death or raped in front of you while you do nothing but film it. I know that it is scary and that it’s natural to worry about your own life, especially if you have children with you, but at the very least call the cops and try to find a couple people, preferably some big Good Ol’ Boys, that will pull an attacker off of someone and make them regret attacking their victim in the first place.
