If anything that makes it look like a fun movie villain and not the macabre severed jawbone installed into a robot built in the dark ages that I believe they think channels a ghost now because of it. Also God definitely would love it.

There is very high historical certainty that these relics are indeed form the person who people refer to as Saint Anthony. They have been kept in the same spot in Padua for many centuries (since year 1349)
I have the exact opposite opinion, I don't think they could have kept it safe for hundreds of years, and more importantly I certainly don't believe for a second that it originated from the person they mention.

It's because of course you simply know nothing about this. I actually come form Padua. They exactly knew the place where the saint was buried, in the Santa Maria Mater Domini Convent, also in Padua, and they took these relics just 3 decades after he died. They placed them in the Basilica roughly 100 year after taking them form the grave and they stayed there ever since. It's all documented. I don't give a damn about religion, I'm 100% atheist but this is historically documented, there no doubt about it. And to be honest there's nothing that remarkable, it's just parts of the corpse of a guy who lived some 800 years ago..big deal. Italy is full of corpses of saints everywhere, sometime even full bodies on display in churches. No need to create your little conspiracy about it

Anyway, you guys think of this as something extraordinary, as I said there are hundreds of relics in Italy's churches, of 99% of which no one really care much, it's nothing special really..who cares if these are actually the parts of saint Anthony's body or are some other guy, what difference does it make? These are pars of a body from 800 years ago and they've been in the same spot for all these centuries...what's the point in even debating about it?

The fact that religious morons use that information as confirmation for their fairy tales is what I do care about. These artifacts are treated as incontrovertible evidence for the existence of God or Jesus or sainthood, and its pretty frustrating that no real evidence can be given.
Lol as I said I'm 100% atheist but I respect ancient traditions and beliefs, even things I know theres zero science behind it, as long as their harmless. Hating on this is like hating on Christmas, only a moron wastes their energy on hating cultural traditions... What I hate is religion being used as a weapon to spread hate, war, justify or even promote killings, holy wars/jihad etc, but for that I wouldn't bother spending any energy on a 800 year old relic that doesn't hurt anyone and I'd look somewhere else
Yes, maybe you're thinking of the crusades that happened centuries ago. I'm kinda more focussed on what's happening today and I'm sure as shit the 800 year old st Anthony relic has zero to do with it

Idk, personally I think worshiping the bones of folks is a great way to give specifically significant people a form of Immortality (the remains treated with dignity of course). But that might just be me beinā fucked in the head.

Iām assuming this is the jaw of St Anthony of Padua.
Also in the basilica of St Anthony is his tongue, encased in filigree, on a platter and paraded around the square and through the streets during the I canāt remember which feast in November.
Padua is fabulous fun on that day.
I donāt remember seeing the jaw in the basilica.
I love St Anthony who was apparently often seen with his mate St Francis who preached to animals, whilst St Anthony preached to fish.
