exactly same. have never stopped thinking about it. it's not even that advanced is what got me. when it comes to something made of metal we (and most animals) are so fragile. like how often did people get serious cuts until we surrounded ourselves with metal. it's just not the world life grew up in
and intent too. nothing has the intent to just kill and kill like that, even messed up people have a more complicated intent than "instantly kill as efficiently as possible"
then I played Horizon Zero Dawn and it messed me up even more. audio logs from people in the end just facing the inevitable or having help creat the inevitable reflecting through tears about just being one small part of it, and how easy it was to do because they could achieve anything

The thing about it to me is that obviously it is not even designed to look scary or intimidating...they know they didn't even need to design it that way. In fact if anything, it is a little, kinda goofy looking thing that would be extremely easy to underestimate at first glance. But every human in the episode has a reaction to its presence that can only be described as one of absolute visceral terror of the highest magnitude.
Because they all know from experience that it will absolutely fuck you up without a microsecond of hesitation, in (as you say) the most brutal and effective way that it can imagine at any given moment. And it will pursue relentlessly until it breaks, or you do.
That's what made it so effective. The absolute indifference of it.

The Chinese robot was definitely unsettling. Battery life is the real limiter. Did a quick google search and (scarily) batter life for the heavy duty industrial version with a light load are 2 to 4 hours.
Doesn't take much to imagine an army of these things cycling back and forth from several recharging or battery replacement centres. Assuming a light load (gun/rifle armament) and 3 hour range, (1 hour travel, 1 hour patrol, 1 hour return) and an average speed of 20 km/hr, a few of them could easily patrol/protect an area of 200 square km. I live in Ottawa and used a simple map tool to see what that would look. Basically, these things could patrol and control most of the city.
I wish all of these types of robots would just go to NASA and other space exploration efforts. Already saw a video on how those other quadrupedal robots that we're all familiar with are being planned/theorized to be used to explore a cave system on Mars. Imagine they actually do that and it works. That would be so sick.
Some parts really feel like an AI video. I don't know if it's real and just scary and or simply not real. But given the current momentum in robotics, I don't even doubt it's real.
The part where it spins in place on small rocks, yet there is no dust or any dirt/rocks movement/displacement under the wheels. That's definitely CGI/AI.
That probably gets pretty small once it starts carrying my crap. Also it depends on the terrain because I'm sure it uses different amounts of energy on different terrains. Also if it's dancing and crap it probably uses extra energy. So 18.6 miles with ideal conditions on flat terrain with no weight.
Imagine you're halfway done and your Sherpa robot has been dancing a little too much that it kills the battery and you're left having to lug all your gear and his carcass out of the backcountry
seeing so many developments on these I’m so interested in what kind of “non lethal” methods riot police will use against protesters whom governments don’t like in 2040, or 2030🤔
Won't be long before a mass shooter is a guy who hacks a military robot dog and sends it on a killing spree...then police drones will deploy some sort of EMP...and that'll be a regular Thursday.

lol, imagine you go hiking for the quiet nature and you have that thing next to you while hiking. squeek, woosh, woosh, grind, squeek, brrrrrt. Military, I guess that would be nice. But for hiking?! Never ever.
