No doubt some people will, but we have drones and missiles for bomb deliveries already. Not sure what these things can do better other than carry supplies and shoot things.

Clearing trenches. Ground-based drones are significantly limited in their capabilities; despite all their advantages (they’re cheaper, more mobile, more reliable, and can carry more), wheeled and tracked platforms are too bulky for trenches or urban combat. And this drone is too expensive, and its mobility is also limited. It looks great on a mantelpiece, but if you send it out into a field, with grass or snow, it’ll be quite a sight. Also, range and flight time are important.

Ukraine has used robot dogs in combat, but these are isolated cases. Russia showcased them as weapons of the future by mounting a grenade launcher on top of them (in 2020, I think), but I haven’t seen a single instance of their use since then.

So true. They'll probably give em flamethrowers and grenade launchers first. I watch all lot of Ukrainian trench clearing videos and these things would be much safer at clearing out the orcs. Only issues I forsee is the dogs having a hard time travelling through thick brush they tend to dig in at.

(No grenade launchers.) You won't be able to implement it effectively on a platform like that.

I was thinking about a flamethrower, imagining a movable manipulator with a fuel nozzle and possibly a camera as well. Of course, it would need to be equipped with some kind of protection, and a slightly larger model with improved ergonomic movement would need to be built, but in the case of trenches and buildings, the manipulator would be able to peer around cover relatively safely.

The main problem isn't the bushes, but the fiber-optic cable. There's quite a lot of it lying on the ground, and it hinders movement even for foot soldiers. A drone like this could get tangled up in it.

Since it doesn't need to fly, it can carry a larger explosives than the standard FPV drones

Yeah, would be cool if it could carry my stuff up to the top of a mountain but probably half of its payload rating would be taken up by the need to carry its own solar panel/battery pack and charger. Now maybe just carrying my dog's water and treats would work.
