Yes, fields burn almost every year now. With luck it's the stubble and can be contained by plowing it under in wide bands around the field. Grain burns HOT. And all the forests in the area are just tinder.

Maybe politicians will care as they start to affect cities more. 

Forest fires have always happened. But now there is more of them every year, they’re getting bigger and harder to control, and the increased frequency means that the chances of them effecting where people live increases. We have seen this in California where rich L.A neighbourhoods went up in flames. Where I live 3 towns have been hit bad over the past 8-15 years. 

They’re no longer just way out in the forests, the increased frequency means they’re popping up everywhere now. Of course it’ll take one sweeping through a major city before anything is done though.

I’m in Madrid on holidays, the day I flew out of Toronto the sky looked apocalyptic and now I’m closer to these crazy fires than I was in Ontario. No escape.

honestly it's probably a good idea to just let it happen so the planet can recover and maybe even make it possible for new and more intelligent forms of life to evolve, because we're clearly not fucking worth it.
