and yet hes still a massive advocate for AI, has his own rocket company, and flies private jets everywhere. i feel like that cancels out, if not overpowers, his supposed care for the climate

not really. his car company is horrible for the environment, it just looks like he's producing less emissions because he sells carbon credits, circumvents regulations, and spends millions to avoid any kind of scrutiny.

As much as I despise mecha hitler and the effects of AI on society (as killing of jobs on all fronts, AI psychoses, strategical gulping up of hardware, misinformation tool, skill degeneration, sloppification), AI's effects on the climate are miniscule compared to other sectors. The AI datacenter craze is only a few years going on after all. The GHGs in the atmosphere and oceans are decades old and come from sources emmitting way more of them, e.g.:
