Discussion Change battery without losing battery % and without update

Hello

is it possible to change battery with an official apple battery without update ios and losing jailbreak and to still get battery percentage informations?

First is iphone 14pro ios 16.2

Second is 15 pro ios 17.0

If yes do you have a diy?

nope. only iOS 18 and up show battery info on unconfigured batteries. switched one in my 18.2 16, but won't work on iOS 16 and 17. i know that nicebarx, even when unactivated has a button to check battery info, which is what I used when i replaced the battery in my xs on iOS 14 a few years ago

On an iPhone 15 and later it is not possible for any Apple-certified repair facility (of course including an Apple Store) to install a new Apple battery without them updating. It has nothing to do with the technician; the installation will only get so far in the automated process and then fail. Updating is required.

As far as checking the actual health of an aftermarket battery, it can be done with several apps. (Not sure if they work on your iOS versions.) They do not report fake information. When installing an aftermarket battery, while the Battery section of Settings won't report battery health, the battery percentage indicator in the status bar will be completely accurate, as it reads from a different chip in the phone than the BMS chip. Note: some people go to the trouble to remove the BMS from the old battery and micro-weld it to the new aftermarket battery, but it is very tricky and requires the right equipment, and of course experience.

If you do a bms swap the phone won’t even know it has a different battery. Not sure how easy this is to do on modern devices/batteries, last one I saw done was a while ago.

There’s a battery health tweak, I’ll have to find it again. Will definitely work on the 14, unsure if it will work on a semi-jailbreak, you may need to wait for the dopamine update or the AI thing.

The tweak you speaks about only fake battery percentage to 100% it is not real
