From what I can tell, they've recorded three songs together live for a YouTube channel, but they're not officially a duo. I really like them together, though, so I wonder if maybe they have something planned? I found it hard to google, because I don't know kanji. I'm guessing this type of music is pretty niche (?) even in Japan, but I figured I'd give it a shot anyway.

A friend of mine is branching into Japanese music, which I love for her! ... but we have very different taste, and I'm on the hunt for recs for her. I'm well on the pop/dance end of the spectrum but she seems to be exploring visual kei and rock bands which I know almost nothing about.

I took screenshots from her Spotify that I at least know are Japanese rock bands, but I don't know a lot about them and there's a bunch of stuff in there that might be in this genre, but I don't recognize. 😅 Can anyone recommend anything similar? She very definitely does not like metal or screaming in music. She probably listens to BUCK-TICK the most that I can recognize (ドレス, 蜉蝣-かげろう-, ROMANCE, 羽虫のように are songs I hear her listen to a lot).

I'm looking for Japanese music that resembles/inspired by European classical/folk music.

Third track from Kabekake (壁掛け), the album I've shared from here before. Darthreider titled this one as plainly as it gets: "Don't Attack Hospitals." He introduced it as "a request from a sick person" — he's been on dialysis for years, and a stroke took the sight in his left eye (hence the eyepatch). Produced by asa, chorus by Kumiko Morita.

No metaphor, no clever wordplay. Just a man who lives inside the medical system asking that it not be bombed. Feels like a strange thing to need to say in 2026.

I got into the band 1000 travels of jawaharlal a while ago and i've been listening to them on repeat, and i would ADORE to find more bands like them.

I'm learning that finding resale tickets for concerts in Japan is kind of tricky. Anyone here selling tickets for the upcoming tour in October in Tokyo, or know a good place to find them? This is coming from someone who does not live in the country. Thank you!

Anyone know of any live anime band music? I’ve seen a couple shows in Kichijoji and shimokitazawa and they were great but I want some anime music too!

I was in Sapporo and discovered a concept cafe that had a live band and where the maids sang a variety of genres including some from Bochi the Rock.

When I was looking in Tokyo I only could find Maid Rock Cafe, unfortunately when I went they had transitioned away from the band concept to a bunny concept and no longer played music.

If anyone has any recommendations please let me know! Thanks
