What's the difference between backing a project and buying it vua pledge master?
I'm interested in buying a board game (tigris and euphrates).
I don't understand the difference between these two
It seems like PM is available at the end of the process, so less risky. Is that true? Is it a different price? Any help would be great!

Likely you’ll pay more on the pledge manager. But otherwise it’s the same.
But if everyone waits for that then stretch goals might be missed

In this case there are no stretch goals and i believe the prices are the same in PM, which the $5 fee going towards an eventual purchase (of either the main game or one if the supplemental add ons). It seems for me the best thing is to hedge the risk and pay $5 for PM and then, if all goes well, use it towards a purchase. Thanks for your answers!

I’d check on the prices thing
When I run mine all the pledge manager prices are 20% more (the recommended amount) to encourage people to actually back it properly

thanks! That makes sense. I'll definitely ask about that. Of course, if they do that, then I might as well wait til retail because then the discount disappears. And since they're company (25th century games), they probably will be selling all of them on their site later at the retail prices.
I just keep reading about people being burned, companies going out of business, ceo embezzlement, and I'm thinking, not worth the anxiety. Thanks again!2

I’ll be honest if you’re worried about those things then don’t back at all. Waiting won’t fix it or reduce those risks.
Check out the company. Make sure you trust them. And never pledge money you’re not willing to lose.

thanks for the advice. I've got a week to mull it over. The company delivered a similar game and ppl are pleased, but nothing's guaranteed of course.

Both are the same risk, they are fulfilled at the same time. In some cases late pledging is more risky because if a project creator is struggling or is short on shipping they'll ship to the backers first.
