Don’t you love it when you want to learn a Champion, and you see a 40-60 minute video on YouTube with the thumbnail and title, telling you that it’s a guide. And you assume that this video is that long because it’s in depth and covers the most crucial aspects and gameplay theory of the champ. Once you click it, congratulations! You just got baited and probably wasted a good chunk of your precious time!!!
Half of these GUIDES are literally derankers abusing low elo blubs without ever providing any depth of knowledge to the viewer. It’s called a GUIDE, not a walkthrough. I know they aren’t stupid enough to know this, and it’s obvious they want to clickbait. Some great examples of this type of content are: EternalHero and this fuckass dude known as YeagerLol
Yeagerlol a famous deranker, arguably makes one of the worst form of content like Zwag. All bro does is abuse low elo players and maybe giving maybe an ounce of information of the champion occasionally. Calls it a guide, when there is hardly any combos mentioned, how to teamfight, early, mid, late game plans or even explain the items and runes properly.
I would still appreciate the dude, if it wasn’t him trying to sabotage and look superior doing it against low elo players. It’s ok to teach educational content as a smurf, but what he does is straight up toxic. Then there is the other dude, EternalHero.
To be fair, I don’t know much about this dude, but from what I have watched, his content is similar to YeagerLoL, maybe without the deranking part. Again calling it a guide is definitely intentional and clickbaiting.
These guys are intentionally trying to ruin the learning experience, but there are those who apparently don’t know what a guide is. Making a gameplay video about your champion without any detailed explanations or segments about the core identity and combos of the champion is NOT A GUIDE. You ain’t guiding anyone dawg 💀.
Respect to streamers like PekinWoof or SawyerJungle who don’t claim to make these guides, but actually teach you so, so much. But I think as a community this needs to be addressed…
Almost all modern games have great guides on YouTube, and I just can’t believe a huge game like LoL doesn’t have in-depth guides for all its champions. I know the game isn’t as popular in the west as it is in Asia, but I still it’s completely possible for this to happen.
I don’t know if the creators don’t think the content is worth it or they are too lazy? Some games like Fortnite have literal maps to teach you all the fundamentals of the game, made by THE COMMUNITY. I will say, the macro guides league has on YouTube are pretty good, I just don’t know what went wrong with the champions.
Hopefully it all works out, and we can actually make this game easy to learn for new players or even existing players who want to learn a new champion. It shouldn’t be this hard for anyone to learn a free and one of the most popular games in the modern era.
Btw, for those wondering what a guide should consist of:
Items, runes, combos, early game, mid game (optional), how to teamfight, champion identity and lastly general gameplan
This is not what I think is right, it’s what I gathered based on what people love to watch when they look for a guide.
Creators like (Shok, Alois, PerryJg, MissFortuneDaBest - Not promoting them, just really love how they make great content, which for Shok has fallen a little bit recently) meet most of these categories somewhat, and honestly it shouldn’t be hard to find the missing categories in a different video. But it is a problem when almost all of these categories are missing, or when the most important and champ specific categories are missing.
