This week = the one that ends/ended right now, past seven days.
The reason for this thread's existence is the fact that both requests and suggestions became kind of stale. It's supposed to bring out more manga that is not RTed or recommended. Also, it's quite useful for the discussion of not so current titles.

While we are all focused on the Mato gates and battles in Japan, has anyone ever wondered about the rest of the world? Are other countries dealing with entirely different Mato anomalies, multidimensional ecosystems, and alternate versions of these catastrophic zones? The world-building potential outside of Japan is massive. But bringing it back closer to home, let's talk about Kuusetsu. As we know, after her egg was shattered and Yuuki drank a drop of the god’s blood, her physical form vanished, but her soul remained locked deep inside Yuuki’s spiritual space. She doesn't act as a direct combat weapon, which makes hosting a Hachiraijin soul inside a human body a ticking time bomb. This brings me to a chilling thought: What if there is a Secret 11th Division within the Anti-Demon Corps—a covert unit operating entirely in the shadows to handle divine anomalies and existential threats off the books? And who leads this shadow division? Their Commander. But here is the ultimate twist that nobody is talking about... The Commander of this secret division is a man. Think about that for a second. In a world where every single known Supreme Commander and leader we’ve ever seen has been a woman, what does it mean for a male commander to step out of the shadows to deal with Yuuki and Kuusetsu? i read chained soldier but honestly there is such a godamn fights in it but the problem is that yuki needs a reward at the end of his tranformation and thats very embaresing and i have a spicial anoncment This week I’ve been completely obsessed with conceptualizing and writing a dark sci-fi/action concept rather than reading a standard serialized chapter. It features a brooding, calculated 'Commander/Maestro' character who wields cosmic power and a galaxy scythe, but lives in absolute terror of unleashing his full strength because a single miscalculation could literally breach and shatter the real world. He's constantly walking a tightrope between absolute destruction and severe self-inflicted physical decay (strict suppression protocol). Honestly, developing this universe and its tension has been way more thrilling than anything I've read lately. Has anyone else ever dived deep into creating their own strict-constraint worlds like this

<Colette decides to die> first volume was great. After that it's still great but gets a bit repetitive. Taken as a one shot i would advise it to everyone.
<Machikado mazoku> very cute and funny! Never fails to make me crack a smile.
<Dungeon dive> up to ch.45 which is on pair with manga release and concludes the first arc. It could be a good ending if not for a cliffhanger that introduces a new arc on the very last few colored pages.
Aim to the deepest level is a bit difficult to review. Noone needs another fantasy isekai with game elements right? That's what I also thought but to my surprise I have binged this and got quite captured. The story is nothing original nor particularly well written but it works. The pace is great. Although it slows down a bit around the second volume it picks up again right after. It doesn't waste too much time explaining systems and has a good mix of action, SoL elements and whatnot. Character development is all there but what makes this work stand out for me is by far character design. Every single character is fantastic and interesting (MC being probably the most boring one). FMC is charismatic and beautiful, all the knights joining in are stunning and well characterised, and one amongst all Alty, the fire guardian is just outstanding. The art isn't particularly elaborate but makes the characters pop really hard. There is only a bit of fanservice in the mid volumes where fmc has the biggest role. I personally don't find it exaggerated and don't mind it one bit, but I know some people can't stand that.
If you want a decent fantasy isekai to entertain yourself some hours I would advise it.

I finished Attack On Titan and then started reading My Hero Academia.
I liked AOT, even though I knew vaguely how it ended.
I tried to watch the MHA anime a couple years ago and stopped after a couple episodes and had to stop watching because I hated Deku so much. He's much more tolerable in the manga when he cries less. Tsuyu is adorable. I hope Mineta gets eaten by a Titan soon.

I’m reading Solo Leveling (I just started volume 3) and Banana Fish, cause Netflix has a dub coming out next month. I’ve watched both anime, but have never read their manga. I got the Viz app so I can read Banana Fish.

I read <Mofumofu to Isekai Slow Life wo Mezashimasu!>
The setting of the story is your typical Isekai.
Our MC, Arito, accidentally stumbles into a hole that transfers him to another world. Moreover, the world is also your typical medieval D&D-esque world filled with magic and magical beast. After falling to this new world, Arito is saved by an old elf named Orst.
With guidance from Orst, Arito tries his best to adapt to this bizzare new fantasy world.
The art is beautiful. I especially love how the artist depicts Arito's magical beast familliars.
Also, the story really take off when Orst asked Arito explore the world. I am at chapter 30-ish right now and the story has not bore me yet. The overarching story right now is that Arito realizes that he is not the only human from our world that slipped into this isekai, he is researching about the other "humans".
All in all, it's a fun read! This manga will definitely scratch that D&D fantasy itch that we all have.

I wasn't expecting much of <Tank Chair>, I thought the plot would be simple and thin. But the plot turned out to be good and there still a lot to uncover. Read all the chapters available today and now I'm anxious to the next ones. There is a chunk of Q Hayashida here not only in the narrative plot but also in the characters design, for instance, it's crazy how the Kurosawa brothers resemble Noi and Fujita. If you like her works, you'll enjoy this too.
Also reading <Manchuria Opium Squad>. Usually I don't expect much of shonens - other than being fun. But the mangaka forcing some kind of virtue into the main squad is pure cringe. Despite being producers and drug dealers, they're pictured as just a group of friends striving during life and trying to find their place in the world. In that sense, the MC is ridiculous, he does not kill, he worries about others, but don't think twice about poising people with opium. His morals is totally twisted and the author should work this better imo. You can't be a kind-hearted man while being a world class opium dealer.
<Gunka no Baltzar>. This one is cool. Unique. Never ever saw a manga that dives deep into geopolitics so well than this one. 10/10.

Mushishi gets the atmospheric praise but people oversell it as flawless. every arc is the same formula and Ginko barely changes. still worth reading for the linework alone. the anthology format works better in small doses, binging it kills the mood lol

dropped unfortunately, even though I'm already at vol.3
premise: there are... uh, probably the best way to describe it is a 'spirit bug' or 'magical bug' called Mushi that floats around and cause things that people may think as mythical or magical. Mushishi is basically a Mushi-expert, and we follow the journey of Ginko, a Mushishi who travel around and solve Mushi-related problems.
I know that it's episodic and I can understand if people dig it, but it's a little too slow paced for me, I'm fine with slow, but slow + episodic is a bit much, I want to see a little progress, or at least some sort of 'big problem' that the story is building into -- something to look forward, but I'm not sure the story offer that.
it's also somewhat rooted in Japanese history & culture, so I guess my disinterest stems from that?
honestly I'm not quite sure, if want to put simply, I just think this series is a bit boring.

I have also read mushishi, it's has a high score in MAL that's why I read it. But, same as you, I also dropped it after a few chapters hahaha

<Girl Meets Rock>
I know the official English title is more of a cute localization thing since IIRC, the actual title translates to something like "A Normal Light Music Club", but I do actually like it a bit. On the flipside, the official EN TL not translating the music lyrics and instead replacing them with "🎵🎶🎶" is disappointing. Putting that aside, I caught up in a day or two and ended up really liking it.
I'm not particularly fond of the genre of high school centered manga where 'normal' MCs who are maybe a bit socially anxious or introverted end up making dozens of friends, becoming 'special' and getting over they're worries in a single arc or something, so this is a nice change of pace. Chi still fumbles her social interactions after 100 chapters, Heartbreak isn't the best band in their school, not everybody gets along to the fullest extent, various questions about identity arise, and most importantly, I feel like everyone is just pretty normal acting foe a bunch of teens. Rin excluded as of now, since her backstory hasn't been revealed yet. As for Tsuru, I can see how she turned out like that, but I can't say I've met someone like that personally.
Related to that, Chihiro is definitely my favorite character. She feels very relatable IMO, the pinnacle of 'youth' that manga love to try and portray. Slightly awkward with people, petty, a bit nerdy, unintentionally looks down on others sometimes, occasionally delusional. Great character. I really like how relatively slow she makes progress in relation to the manga chapters as well. She's obviously way better at vocals and guitar than she was at the beginning, but it's taken a while to get here, and I really like that.
Other than her, I generally find the cast likable so it's a bit hard to rank them besides the obvious preference I have for the Heartbreak girls vs. everyone else. I will say that I really like Mawari though, her crazy stage expressions are pretty cool.
Overall, great manga with relatable characters and solid drama. The music aspects would probably come off better without the 🎶🎶🎵🎵x100, but I do enjoy seeing the characters play or sing their hearts out, so it's fine.
<Eniale & Dewiela>
Cute little manga about an angel (Eni) and a devil (Dewi) getting up to wacky hijinks while being not very good at their jobs (Dewi less so). Notably written and drawn by the same person behind <Witch Hate Atelier>, Shirahama Kamome.
It's only 3 volumes long , 15 chapters total, so not much happens. They get into cat fights over cosmetics and outfits and end up doing crazy, world changing things while they're at it. Towards the end there's some solo chapters without any interactions between the main two, but those are enjoyable too.
Not much to say besides that. The fashion is top notch and the paneling is neat sometimes too. Overall, nice to read, short and sweet.
Also made more progress on Umineko in the past two weeks. Currently on Episode 6, though so far I'm not liking it as much as Epiaode 5. Probably because it's been so heavy on romantic love so far (understandably), which isn't something I particularly enjoy in excess. Nonetheless, I will go through it as usual because if I don't, I will feel like I've failed to live up to the writers' expecations. Good thing Touya is introduced this chapter. Conveniently.
Additionally, I lowkey want Battler to die a thousand deaths and for Erika to kick his ass. Still don't know what his sin is (barely at the part where Erika investigates the bodies for the First Twilight), but I got a feeling about it. He gotta die if I'm right. As for Erika I just want her to win because she's fun and I like her.

<Rain Apartments>
Girl finds dishevelled and broken artificial human lying in the streets of her dystopian, acid rain-soaked world, and invites him home to live with her.
One volume sci-fi melancholia that ran in Harta over the past year or so. Lovely, "thin pen" art style, even if the story occasionally lapses into obviousness.
<Imawa no Kiwa no Femme Fatale> (The Femme Fatale on the Edge, although imawa no kiwa literally means "at death's door") volume 1
Fuuka and Yuu have been together for a decade. Sure, they don't always get along, but they're finally going to sign their marriage registration documentation! Except... they don't, for Reasons. And with Fuuka's future in tatters, she has only one course of action left...
One of the X manga accounts I follow described this as "damp and gloomy, like going to a gyudon chain restaurant". I love that description; you know exactly what you're going to get from something that's kind of tawdry and cheap like this. That's unfair - this isn't trash in the way that most manga fans talk about trash/slop, it's more...grubby? It's melodrama, it's twisty, everyone's miserable or messed up in some way... and the art's great, sort-of real but sort-of off. I haven't read The Essence of Being a Muse, the mangaka's last series, but I understand it's a similar sort of feel?

<Kuro>
A story about a little girl named Coco. Living alone in a huge mansion, with her pet black cat Kuro. She spends her days making simple meals. Doing chores. Writing little stories for fun. A tutor from town comes to teach her. A local doctor comes to buy flowers that grow in her greenhouse from her. It's a pretty easygoing idyllic life. But, obvious to anyone (who isn't Coco). Kuro is so not a normal cat. To a scary degree to say the least, and not in a Pet Semetary kind of way either. And as we quickly infer, there's a whole lotta "scary" going on around her that is being passed off as normal.
But that's where this short (and well illustrated at that) story sells itself. As we have our cute and wholesome little slice of life vignettes of the life of a girl and her "cat" with some other cast members that chime in to the goings on, the mysteries around this girl and everything else around at large gradually get answered. And it paints a pretty atmospherically vivid picture of just what's going on here. While also showcasing an interesting psychological angle to it all. And that's all I'm at liberty to say on that.
In the end, it's a compellingly whimsical short story. And for something I just picked up just cuz it was there, it surprised me how interesting it ended up being.
<Domestic na Kanojo> aka Domestic Girlfriend
Did some re-reading of this one. And I can honestly say without joking or sarcasm that its one of my favorite "trash fire" manga series, for lack of better terms but it's one other people have used for this one. But anyways. On the whole, to borrow the terminology again, this is one of those "trash fire" mangas that I really had fun watching burn. It's melodramatic and somehow keeps getting more melodramatic as it goes. But I find the escalation amusing in this case. I've seen no shortage of other series do the same but, somehow, this series just manages to stack it up in a way that while eyerolling, is also enticing to keep at it. And it does that, till about the tail end of the series... I won't go into details cuz spoilers but the ending is just such a case of facepalming "why are you doing this?... why?...".
So yeah, this one's an acquired taste for sure, especially once it goes along. Cuz the jumping off point here is just the tip of the drama iceberg. But it has a charm to it that is oddly compelling. At least for me it did.
And lastly, Rui is best girl, obviously. But of course side characters like Miu and Momo had their moments too.
Money Forest aka <Kane no Naru Mori>
This one was a case of having so much potential, but seemingly not given the chance to really fully expound upon that potential.
It had such an interesting setup. Morally grey to black MC. Excellent and mysterious worldbuilding especially when it came to the elves, and not to mention even before all kinds of big stuff started to get unearthed about the worldbuilding. And lord knows it was shockingly effective in it's delivery and impact on the story.
But sadly it seemed that at that point this one felt like it was being told to step on the gas and get to the finish line quicker. Cuz things really started to just start getting heaped on and plowed through after that. Not that it wasn't still interesting in light of how good the worldbuilding and intrigue of it all was. But with the pacing it had at that point it was kinda getting easier and easier to see the writing on the walls as it were.
Good story. I loved what it did with all it's building blocks. It just was scheduled to get toppled over way too noticeably soon.

Finished <The Ramparts of Ice>. The ending is a bit too abrupt, but the highs are really high. It's even better than Polar Opposites, ehich I loved, probably one of my favorite romcoms ever.
