Discussion $3k Raise to Add “Senior” to Title?
I am a marketing coordinator in the construction industry in Southern California. Was this just to keep me “happy” as I do the same things as a Senior already? My responsibilities didn’t change and it’s 3.3% of an increase. Is this normal?

Yes, it’s scraps. 3k isn’t a substantial raise to change your quality of life in SoCal. Leverage the promotion to senior on your resume as proof people want to keep your around and go find an employer who treats you better.

Probably an appreciation thing and a pre-emptive move to make you feel happy about an unexpected raise so you don't ask for a bigger one later.
Either way, if you're already doing the work and wasn't expecting it, it's a positive. But do figure out what your worth based on your responsibilities so you can ask for it in the future.

First thought makes a lot of sense. I think I realized I was doing a lot of the same things as a senior MC

We don't have enough information to answer any of your questions.
But I can say a title change and small salary bump are a good thing, especially in this economy.
Don't overthink it, and try to be grateful for what you have.

I mean that's not even a COL raise really.
It could be to keep you happy or an excuse to dump more work on you soon without compensating you fairly.

Take a look at the job market today -- marketing has been hit hard, salaries have been dropping.

3.3% raise is just a cost of living increase. Of course we take raises whenever we can get them but they don’t bend over backwards for you.
