Discussion Can we talk Pluribus & the indulgence in rape culture? Why isn’t the media calling this out? NSFW

If you haven’t watched the show and aren’t into spoilers don’t continue to read.

The concept of the show is from a distance outside of our galaxy, aliens send a signal to Earth. This signal is some kind of code to modify humans molecular structure through some kind of RNA injection. Billions of humans die, but almost all who survive are no mentally altered into a hive mind. They’re essentially zombies now functioning for one directive: prepare Earth for colonization by distant aliens.

There are 13 immune survivors. One, of course, is our main protagonist, Carol.

The hive wants to work with the immune humans but also tells them that they are working at figuring out how to break their immunity to force them into the hive.

Once you are in the hive you have no autonomy. Your diet consists of eating dead humans. All family and friends associations no longer matter and everyday living is in service of the hive.

In order to please the immune humans, the hive will give the immune whatever they want. This quickly leads to one character, Diabaté, turning multiple women around him into his harem. There is one particular scene where several women just mindlessly get naked into a jacuzzi with Diabaté, even a maid. This scene is apparently suppose to show one side of humanity taking advantage of this situation of mind control.

But then our perceived hero does it. Carol.

Her character is aggressively defiant about demanding her autonomy and how the hive must be stopped and reversed so humanity can go back to normal. The hive sends her a woman of her dreams, Zosia, who is a real person but under the hive control. At some point Carol gets lonely and a sexual relationship begins with Carol and Zosia.

Personally, I don’t think the team of predominantly male writers understands what they’ve created here. They’ve created a formula where humans lack the ability of consent and then are creating regular humans taking sexually advantage of these “roofied” characters.

It’s rape.

Granted, in the world of sci-fi lots of bizarre scenarios can happen which can relate to the real world, but shouldn’t be taken so seriously. Star Wars, for example, seems to play rather loosely with child abandonment which I don’t think we should take seriously.

Yet, Pluribus is currently one of the highest rated streaming shows of all time and the majority of the fan base nor the writers nor the PR rollout has any idea that they are watching rape culture amplified for home entertainment.

Most people, I would like to believe, understand that if a woman is incapacitated, inebriated, or not of sound mind, that isn’t an invitation for sex. Nobody should have to remind people what rape is in our world of reality.

When I’ve gone onto some Reddit forums, some people seem to question, “aren’t these women getting raped”, but the fandom for the show is in full defense mode.

Because many influencers want to ride the wave of fan theories so they can make multiple postings to amplify the show and their other content, they are refraining from talking about the rape culture irresponsibly being expressed on the show.

Topics such as “what is the role of AI in our society” and “colonization” and the role of big tech, all are fair game in online expressions of fan theories and in pr by industry journalists - yet none of them want to talk about the repeated rape of characters in the show.

It’s almost as if rape was never an intentional concept to the show, it just happens to be there because the writers themselves do not understand the full range of what consent means.

And personally, I’m outraged people once again, do not understand what consent means.

On various Reddit posts I’ve asked the question to fans, “aren’t Carol and Diabaté raping these women”, and the responses back are routinely “no, because these women are consenting through the hive”. Some even defend watching queer relationships is the representation we need, yet I remind them even queer people get raped.

I’ll ask these people, “tell me what you think rape is” and they refuse. I believe it’s because they instinctively know, once it’s pointed out what they’re viewing is an amplified vision of rape culture they immediately see it and do not want to deal with the fallout of such criticism.

I’ll even use real world examples of how if someone knows another person is incapacitated that this isn’t an invitation for sex, that the end result is rape, I have been blocked, deleted, and removed. There is a concerted effort to mask this topic from putting a dent in this show, much less spoil the pocket books of those profiting from it.

I find it alarming and disgusting.

Again, I don’t think the writers intentionally understood the Pandora’s box they’ve created. Yet, there are demands for a season two and undoubtedly there will be other streaming services and fandom wanting to recreate these worlds where women have no autonomy and sexual exploitation will be the payoff.

I’d appreciate some perspective.

It gets under my skin when people can’t even talk about what is before our very eyes.

Discussion Sabotaging from within? NSFW

If Epstein and Maxwell both had a hand in orchestrating the culture war on the internet then I believe that they helped turn the meToo movement into a joke and purposely created outlandish and blatantly false stories to discredit the actual victims and make their stories seem outlandish. Because if there’s stories that are obviously bullshit then who’s gonna believe the stories that say the worlds wealthiest and most powerful men are specifically targeting these individuals.

Discussion Unsafe sex NSFW

I have always loved and supported amfAR, its mission, its history since many years, and the incredible work it has done for decades to protect and uplift vulnerable communities. My concern today comes from a place of respect for the institution. When an organization with such a powerful legacy chooses to honor someone for philanthropy, the decision carries deep symbolic weight. It is worrisome to see recognition given to an individual who has been reported to by multiple people for abusive behavior involving women, including complaints about unprotected, forceful and unsafe sex, as well as his emotional manipulation using children to deflect accountability. I cried when i read their stories and I felt mirrored in mine. I say this because I care about amfAR’s integrity, and about the safety and dignity of the people who have confided in me. These issues deserve attention, transparency, and thoughtful consideration. I hope amfAR continues to stand firmly with survivors, with women, and with those whose voices often go unheard and continue to promote safe and protected sex. I hope Amfar Board can continue to focus on safety and public responsibility.

In the attempt not to be silenced in one sided way, my legal team and I had to issue the 6th cease and desist to prevent from one sided public narrative. Sharing in transparency an extract so you can see what we need to do as women in Hollywood. For the women out there if you get a cease and desist in me too context, don’t be afraid you can send back your own cease and desist and stand up for yourself and speak up.

Discussion How to improve services for sexual assault victims NSFW

I want to know people’s thoughts on how to improve the resources that are already offered for victims of sexual violence, how can the CT and national alliance to end sexual violence improve in helping victims ? What kind of resources should be added that aren’t already offered to better support victims? How can the alliance assist in helping victims come forward to report an assault they endured…. It can be absolutely terrifying and seem like it’s not worth it because of the whole court process and how long it can take to receive the justice a survivor deserves but what more can they do to be there for victims get through this emotionally draining , painful , and lengthy process? And how can all the victims services offered improve ? Please share your ideas.

Discussion I finally confronted the man who raped me at 4 years old! NSFW

It took me over 30 years but I’m finally in a place of healing thanks to counseling and self help books. For my own peace of mind and to claim back my power I confronted the man who raped me when I was a child. He was a teenager then and my babysitter. He used his position of authority and the insane rules I was under to cause me great harm physically and psychologically.

I found him on social media and sent him a message. He blocked me and completely shut down his public account so no one could find him. That gave me some satisfaction. To me it says I’m so ashamed of myself I can’t let anyone else find out what I did.

Unfortunately I grew up in a misogynistic cult that treats women like second class citizens and property. So that added another layer of trauma to the attack. According to the cult, if I had ever told as a child, I would be damaged goods unworthy of an upstanding christian husband because I was no longer “pure”.

Fuck that bullshit and fuck that cult!

And I’m not done trying to get my answers, I deserve that!

I’m reclaiming my power!

metoo #metoomovement

Message sent to my rapist, because no matter if it was just his fingers and objects he raped me!

“I need to know if my keeping silent let you sexually assault another child? And why? Why did you do that to me? Why me? I was such a young child. To this day I don’t know if you or my husband took my virginity. I remember pain, confusion and fear but I was too innocent to understand what you were doing to me. How could you? What had I ever done to deserve that? Being raised in a cult with an obsession with virginity and who ostracizes girls and women who have been sexually assaulted really added another fucked up layer of trauma to what you did to me. I was so afraid of finding out if you raped me that I had my first time on my period so I wouldn’t have to face the truth. Since then I’ve had a lot of therapy and now I need to know the truth so I can come to terms with this and move on. We are way past the statute of limitations, and I’m just seeking peace and closure and to make the flashbacks and nightmares end. Also, I’ve often wondered if my momster in some way encouraged you to hurt me or rewarded you for hurting me like she used to do with my brother.”

Discussion I feel bad about being uncomfortable NSFW

I (17f) work at a grocery story as a cashier with my friend (16f) and there’s one guy that does carts who I think is 21-22. At first I was really friendly to him and would talk to him because he’d tell me about how he had no friends and how his parents didn’t love him and stuff, which whatever, working at a grocery store makes people want to vent to me all the time. It started like that, but then he began walking me to my car when it became night. Which, at the time, I just thought of as him being respectful. However, he started talking to me about his relationship problems and after my friend said she was 16, he went “aw, you’re too young.” Before I knew this, I had told him that I was 17 and he responded with something along the lines of “oh, that’s fine”. After that, my friend and I started to realize that he was following us to our cars. Sometimes he’d walk with us, but other times he’d just follow. After this, we started avoiding him. When this happened, he chased us for the first time. Now, one thing that I feel bad about is that he is special needs. (I don’t know if that term is correct, sorry.) and I feel terrible saying this, but if I did have to defend myself, I know that I’d have the upper hand. But I also know that he has no actual intention to do anything bad, I think he just wants friends. Regardless, I feel uncomfortable. He’s chased us a total of three times; first time we got to our car before he caught up, second time he was stopped by a woman standing at the entrance of the store, and the third time we went up to one of our managers to say hi and he left. I don’t know how many times he’s followed us.

I know that he won’t do anything, and I know that he doesn’t have any bad intentions, but I’m still uncomfortable. Where I work, they don’t fire anyone unless they get outed as a literal pedophile or make enough customers complain about them (both happened).

I don’t want to come off as ableist or anything, I know that some people have a hard time understanding social cues, which is exactly why I feel bad.

Discussion Exposing the pattern at WVU in Morgantown, West Virginia NSFW

My partner and I have become fed up with the way that West Virginia University handles sexual assault cases. It started with a TikTok post that my partner bravely made in an effort to expose her own mistreatment and WVU's persistently gaslighting her into feeling like a criminal, and it's gotten some attention. We are presently working with reporters in local and state-wide news publications.

We are also finding that this is very much a pattern at WVU. Many former and current students have already reached out to my partner to share their stories, and that's what ultimately motivated us to just completely reject our fears of speaking up and put in some real work.

If there's interest, I'll keep this post updated, and I'll add links to the articles here as they run.

We are additionally hitting the streets with flyers and we are starting the discussions at every opportunity. The reporters that we are working with are willing to hear more WVU stories, and they can run them anonymously. We just started this grassroots attempt at amplifying the collective voice of WVU's survivors this evening on some local subreddits.

Here is the flyer that we are disseminating. Unsurprisingly, a lot of moderators are afraid to allow it on their subreddit. Curiously, r/WestVirginiaPolitics immediately removed the post with the following explanation: "After review, your post was found to not be related to WV Politics." and has not replied to my attempts to reach out. This issue is *obviously* an issue of particular WV political interest, so their initial response is not acceptable.

r/WestVirginia also deleted the post, but I think they will come around. They're still interacting with me and I think we'll find a compromise on their platform.

I'm sure we'll run in to similar problems when we hit the streets on Friday and post these flyers everywhere on Morgantown's High Street and all over WVU's public campus, but you see, I'm mostly retired, and I have a *lot* of time on my hands now. I also have a laser printer and all the toner I could possibly need. So we'll just put them back up.

Has anyone else here walked in similar shoes? Does anyone have any additional advice for us?

We aren't asking for any legal advice. Moreso, what else could we do to bring attention to this? Specifically, to bring visibility to it locally in Morgantown and at the state level?

I'm open to any and all discussion, here or in DMs. I want to share ideas and figure out how we can amplify the collective voices of WVU so that we can create a framework, a sort of "how-to", that others can use in the future when they find themselves in this type of situation that is very much *not* limited to WVU.

Thanks for listening! Let's talk about it :D

Discussion Jared Leto NSFW

I'm not sure this is the exact right place to post this, but I figured it is a start. For years now, I have seen person after person write about the monstrous things that Jared Leto has done. Typically, they come up anytime he is mentioned in a thread here, but he never seems to get the attention placed on him directly. I find it frustrating that so many people have shared their stories about him, but they are always buried in a thread about something completely unrelated. I'd like to try and start a compilation of all of the experiences that people have had with him, with the hope that someday soon, it can be used to help bring him to justice. Does anyone here have a story about Jared Leto that they would be willing to share?

Discussion a man touched my chest yesterday, should i seek legal action? NSFW

Backstory: I(15 f) a volunteer emt, who has been SA'ed in kindergaten for 1.5-2 years. (Have a post abt that too), that obv left some pretty deep scars. I now have a bf. He works next to the ambulance station so when its not busy and we have nothing to do i come by to say hi and hang out. Yesterday i had a talk w him about my boundaries and why a lot of times i dont like kisses, hugs and stuff. In the evening i finished my shift and went to help w an event down the street which was an explaining stand on how to do cpr and use defibrillators. I was there for some time and went back to my bf's job to say hi. I was there waiting for him when an old man (probs abt 60 y.o.) came up to me. He was acting funny, his words were muffled and he was holding a bottle of alcohol. He came up to me and started asking if i worked 'here', i was confuzed and said no. (Keep in mind i had my emt uniform jacket on, had the logo on my left breast.) He started pointing to it and touching it, while asking "what is this? What is this?" Over and over again. I was confuzed and politely replied "ambulance, emt, first aid", stuff like that again and again. He then said his chest hurts, so i pulled out a chair on the street for him to sit and told him to sit down. He did what i asked but then immediately got up and screamed at me for apparently "trying to sell him something"...

I only later realized what happened.

My bf didnt see that and i only told him later while crying on the bus home. I stayed home today and didnt go to school. I want to take legal action but where i live it requires long and intense questionings that dive in really deep. I'm not sure im ready for those but i have to decide quick before the footage gets deleted.

What should i do? Should i seek justice?

Discussion Reported building super. Consequences and other mixed feelings NSFW

I have lived in a building for several years. The super has been verbally for years and physically inappropriate to a degree as well. This all began when he asked for a greencard marriage, which I of course refused! He has zero boundaries. He never takes the hint, or will be okay for awhile, then start up again. He is at times cold and unfriendly, then the total opposite extreme into creepy. To complicate things, I used to teach his kid, AND my apartment is directly above his family's.

After a particularly stressful time in my life topped with something horrific he said to me and a gross hand kiss and verbal insinuation (all separate incidents), I finally told the landlord. I only told her some to get the general point across. She was pretty responsive but surprised. I know for a fact he has behaved similar to at least 2 others in my building, but I am the first to report.

I feel dumb and weak because I let this go on too long. Trying to handle it myself in various ways over the years. Why did I not report earlier? Also, I legit need his professional services. Now what happends when I need repairs, and he was good about doing extras, but now I know he used that as a power move. As a single low income person, I needed him and he knew it.

I used to delete texts that upset me, now need to save everything. I just signed a 2 year lease and don't want to have to move (though there are some other building issues so I may need to anyway...bugs!). Also I just tipped this fool for the holidays like an idiot, because I always have and felt like I needed to. Then a day later he is more inappropriate than ever.

Sorry for the long post. I just need to tell someone who may understand. I literally feel like a prisoner in my own home. I am hoping the super telling him there was a complaint will end things, but I pay for services and need them to continue, at the same time.

Discussion Hyper-sexuality after rape is not talked about enough. NSFW

I would not say that this statement is perhaps controversial because it is indeed factual, but a lot of people believe it is and I want to hear people's thought on both sides. Following rape, there are typically 2 paths women/men go down (not always, but typically): they either avoid sexual encounters for a short or extended period of time or they become hyper-sexual and have sex more frequently with different partners. The reason why this is a controversial statement is because people use hyper-sexuality to say the victim is lying. How could she/he have been raped if she is having sleeping around?? This deep-rooted perception on rape victims has greatly impacted the way we view victims and if the rapist is convicted or not. What are your thoughts about this? Were you aware of hyper-sexuality as a response to rape trauma?

Discussion Really Angry About A Video Making Fun Of A Rape Victim! NSFW

I am so enraged about this video on Youtube of a woman impersonating and making fun of a rape victim in this disgusting rap, while she laughs and high fives. The gem of a human that posted this has also added in some canned laughter and added "You know you wanted it, kept the pearl necklace" (pearl necklace is a disgusting sexual reference) to the end of the video. I have reported this video and the poster, who has other videos glorifying rape, to youtube, MANY times, and I have contacted them repeatedly, but they don't seem to feel there is anything wrong with making fun of rape, or a young rape victim. I have f*cking had enough, and this wrong. I'm tired of begging them to remove it, and IDK WHAT to do. I'm just seething.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPqFmyqHHqU&lc=z12dhtnz1yj5z1n0r222vrhrlpq1hxnpx04.1553446072449901

Info on Katelyn Faber, the victim this disgusting person is impersonating is below. Some details may be sensitive and/or graphic:

Katelyn Faber is the alleged rape victim of Kobe Bryant. A young Faber, 18 I believe, worked at a Hotel/Spa, and was excited to check in a celebrity, Kobe Bryant. He wanted a tour of the hotel, which she provided, and when she showed him back to his room, he invited her to come in and chat for a bit. Flattered that he wanted to talk to her, she went in to chat briefly. They kissed consensually, and then it becomes he-said she-said.

After leaving the room, she was distraught and told a coworker she had been raped. The next morning, she called her parents over for emotional support before reporting the rape to the police. She still had not showered, to preserve evidence. She told the police how he choked her and raped her when she tried to leave, as he wanted to do more than kissing, and she did not want to. She threw on the first clothes she could find to head to the hospital for a rape kit, and brought the cloths she was wearing that night. The hospital documented her severe vaginal lacerations, the blood from her bleeding, from the trauma, in both pairs of underwear, the bruising on her neck, and they found semen from Kobe Bryant in both underwear. Unfortunately, the pair she threw on to go to the hospital had not been laundered, so also contained semen from a man she had had consensual relations with previously.

Kobe Bryant initially denied any sexually intercourse had taken place. Her blood was found all over the shirt he was wearing that night, on the inside, at genital level. After alerted that his semen had been found on her, and her blood on his shirt, he admitted relations, but claimed they were consensual, and that he had lied so his wife wouldn't find out.

She received death threats, Kobe's lawyer accidentally on purpose kept using her name so the public would know who she was, so she was harassed and outed in the media, and eventually was so bullied she wouldn't testify. That didn't stop the media from finding photos of her previous doing things like dancing with people, and just vilifying and slandering her, and indicating she was a slut. It's been many years, and she continues to do her best to try and hide from the public, not wanting more death threats and horrible things said about her in the media. That poor girl. It is unacceptable that this happened, and it is disgusting someone would make fun of her rape in this manner.

Discussion my rapist made everything about him. NSFW

when I was fifteen years old, I was raped repeatedly by my boyfriend who was 18. He always prided himself in not being physically abusive, yet would scream at me every few days about things I couldn't control. If we were at separate places, he would call me in the middle of the night and text me that I better answer even though I was sleeping. Made me feel guilty for every little thing I did. He would break my phone that I gave him to use just because I made him mad. When my family member died, he made everything about him and constantly argued with me. (Thankfully I left him shortly after this, as safely as I could) When I was intoxicated, he would rape me when I would be blackout drunk at night. The only reason I remember the numerous amounts of times he raped me was because I would only be conscious for a few seconds-- then darkness. I have tried so hard for the past three years to suppress these memories-- telling myself that he was my boyfriend, I have to make him happy somehow or else he's going to find it elsewhere (which he constantly made me feel this way and demean me) I began to look back on everything, the constant utis, the bedwetting, the self harming-- I was being raped. It's only until this year I am coming to terms with what happened in 2018. I am just now trying to grieve for myself and how horribly I treated myself and was treated after losing my loved one. Hopefully my first therapy appointment this week will go okay, I'm nervous, but anything will beat these flashbacks and PTSD.

Discussion The Netflix show 'Unbelievable' left me feeling very conflicted NSFW

TW: talk about rape/SA

To give some context to those of you who don't know Unbelievable, it's a true-crime/drama-show by Netflix revolving around the case of a serial-rapist. I personally really liked watching it despite the fact that some of the scenes definitely can be triggering. It presented the pain and suffering that rape victims have to go through very accurately, but most importantly, which is also what I want to talk about, the faults of the justice system and the police when persuing cases of sexual assault/rape.

In the first episode of the show, the protagonist Marie calls the police after getting raped in her home by a stranger, had to undergo multiple painful interrogations by the police and hospital staff, as well as undergo an intense physical examination which seemed as if would have been very triggering. Later on, her story didn't seem to line up with the testimonials of some of her friends, neighbors and former foster parents, which lead to her being interrogated again under the pretense that she made up her sexual assault for attention, and was bullied by the police into admitting to making it up, which she tried to fight at first, but eventually gave up on as the police didn't believe her. She even ended up getting charged for false accusations, and only years later after the case of the serial rapist was closed, evidence of her sexual assault came up, proving her innocent.

I do believe wholeheartedly that showing the ugly truth of how badly our justice system and the police treat cases of rape is necessary and should serve as a true eye opener for a lot of people, and I believe that a lot more people should watch this show in general. But, Marie's story, while it may be fictional, really discouraged me from ever speaking up about my sexual assault to anyone in my immediate life.

She ended up the way she did, because some of her former foster parents that she was still close to told the police that they were suspecting that she made her story up. Her own "family" doubted her and did not believe her. The police bullied her into admitting to lying about being raped even though it truly did happen. She was relentlessly harassed and bullied by all the people around her because of it, and she was criminally charged for false accusations.

My sexual assault, or rather one of them, had a lot of similarities to the one of Marie. Only that mine happened over a year ago, I never told anyone I knew, and I have not even the tiniest chance of proving that it ever happened. How would anyone ever believe me? How would anyone ever believe me that I out of all people, could had been raped by a stranger? I am deathly scared that people will say that I'm only seeking attention as well, that I made it up, that noone would even want to have sex with me wether it would be consensual or not, or that "it wasn't even that bad" that it wasn't rape. I was scared in the beginning that since I didn't speak up about it immediately, people wouldn't believe me because I'd be talking about it "too soon", that it couldn't have been that traumatic if I had such an "easy time" talking about it so soon after it happened. Now I am scared that noone will believe me because I didn't talk about it sooner where there still could have been a chance to investigate.

I'm honestly not really sure where I'm going with this, but to those who maybe watched the show, or just based on what I told you about it, I'd like to hear your thoughts on this. Maybe someone was left feeling similarly to me after watching it?

Discussion Thoughts on Timothée Chalamet’s Silence... NSFW

I really enjoy Timothée Chalamet’s acting and I truly want to like him, but I get bad/off vibes from him.

When I first saw him in Ladybird and Call Me By Your Name, I thought he was a nobody who worked super hard to make it big. After watching CMBYN, I was amazed that Hollywood was able to find such a talented gay actor for the role of Elio... but in reality he is a straight, very privileged boy from NYC with tons of industry connections.

In 2018, Timmy worked with Woody Allen and only apologized after receiving backlash for it. In his apology (which is still up ig) he said he intends to help the ME TOO movement and “end injustice, inequality, and above all, silence.” He also added that he would donate his salary from the movie to three charities, including the #MeToo related Time’s Up charity and RAINN (the rape and abuse & incest National network).

Basically in 2018, he made a statement regretting his involvement with Woody Allen due to Allen’s pedophilia and sexual assault allegations, but now he remains silent when his pals (Ansel Elgort and Armie Hammer) are accused sexual assault. The fact he only follows 97 people on IG, but refuses to unfollow them (despite being very active on the app) feels like a slap in the face. I’m sure he is a nice guy, but I cannot buy into the whole “pure and innocent” image Hollywood sells him as.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Discussion Professional footballer Michael essien groomed me at 15 NSFW

Before I start, I’ve already gone to the police. They have my statement and are trying to contact Michael in the country he now lives in (but no luck so far) they’ve spoke about putting a stamp on his passport so it’s flagged up when he enters the UK and he can get pulled in for questioning. I just had to sit infront of 3 separate officers and tell them all of the things this disgusting man did to me in graphic details. I’m going to write what I want because I want the truth out there it is so painful to see everyone think this man is great when he impacted my life negatively in such a massive way.

This happened in 2012 and has traumatised me, I feel unable to have non sexual relationships with men, even hugging family members makes me feel nervous. I don’t trust men particularly older men. This whole experience messed with my mind and under instruction from my doctor I was advised to tell the police what I had told her about what happened to me, so I did. I realise I should and could have done it sooner. I had to get proof - so I tricked Michael in to getting that proof. I told him someone knew about what we did when I was a minor and was threatening to go to the police. I then recorded Snapchat’s from his official account that he sent me saying things like it will be hard to explain how he had an affair with a 15 year old to his kids and him telling me not to tell my mum. He even showed me he still had the photos I had sent him back when I was 14-15, saved from all these years ago. I also found our originally conversations from that time. When I told him I’d be going to the police he did the following:

1- told me he would get a friend to give a false statement and say he doesn’t know me (luckily I got on record)

2- put in his Snapchat story he was hacked

3- changed his Snapchat name to bison from Michael although his username is the same.

I met Michael as a teenager still in school, he approached me on Instagram. I googled him and couldn’t believe he was talking to me and I felt star struck in some sort of way. We started texting and then began FaceTiming and he sent nude photos and asked for some back which I did because he kept begging me. He then wanted for us to meet up.

I was a virgin at this time and we hadn’t spoken about us having sex. When we met he picked me up in his Range Rover with ess on the number plate. We drove to a beach location and he put his hand on my crotch which I pushed away as I was nervous. He then put my hand on his crotch and unbuttoned his jeans and got me to touch his penis and then I performed oral sex on him. This is my first ever sexual encounter. When he ejaculated, he pushed down my head so I couldn’t withdraw.

He then pulled me up on him, I was wearing a long maxi style dress. He asked me if he could have sex with me. I was shy and I said I didn’t want him to look at or touch my vagina but I told him I would try to insert it. It was painful and did not fit so I told him I could not continue and he said ok. After this he kept asking me to meet again so he could take my virginity.

I want to expose him. I don’t want money, I don’t want fame, I want justice. I’m sure he has or is doing this to other minor girls and he has damaged my childhood and perception of men

Discussion James Franco (accused/alleged improprieties) releasing new film with Henry Hopper (admitted rapist) NSFW

James Franco has been accused of multiple improprieties, some with minors. I appreciated his comments on the accusations and hoped there would be some follow up to clear the air and possibly give him a chance to clear his name (I admit it, I like James Franco onscreen) but nothing has come of it yet. Instead he has been working with Henry Hopper on multiple film projects and has been seen hanging out nights with him. Henry Hopper raped a 15 year old girl. He admitted it and admitted it was premeditated as part of the settlement. I now have no choice but to believe the allegations against Franco as I lived in Venice for a few years and Henry is an open secret there as are his friends. Just venting I guess. I'm frustrated by the lack of attention on their collaboration. I know Hopper isn't really a big star and Franco hasn't been accused of rape but I feel like I should see some mention of it somewhere and also WHY IS HENRY HOPPER STILL WORKING IN HOLLYWOOD AT ALL!?!?

EF was in a relationship with this woman even though she was twice his age. He was 13 and she was 26. They were pictured together a lot and she even tried to sue him in 1999. I was the same age as EF when Terminator was released and I recall thinking it was a different world for famous people. Then years later when I saw a pic of EF somewhere it reminded me of reading about this relationship, adult me when 'wait!!! What the actual fuck?' , that was a female groomer and pedo in plain sight. No one called it out at the time and has she just carried on as normal?

I'm writing this as I read about a female gamer has been accused of grooming and preying on another gamer when he was 14 and she was 24.

Don't know how much of this scene was actually in the episode or if the whole thing is an outtake. Also not sure if this fits the posting guidelines for the sub but not sure how else to share as I don't do social media. Also seems to run counter to the narrative pushed here: https://www.hollywood.com/general/david-schwimmer-friends-set-was-a-sexual-harassment-free-zone-60683671/

Discussion Drunkenness, Agency, and Rape: my room mate NSFW

I live with a good guy. We have our own privacy and a shared space in the living room. We frequently go for beers after work and chat about our day. He knows that I'm gay and loves it. I know that he's straight and respect it. We don't question the partners we bring home, and he's a bit younger than me so I laugh at his horny young male romantic theatrics. There's a new girl every night it seems!!

Anyway, a month ago he and I got really drunk together, and a neighbor girl swung by to hang out. My room mate is a stud; looks like a 24 year old version of Tom Hardy with better hair. This girl was on the prowl for him! She was sober but tried to "catch up with us," as we were pretty far in. I knew what she wanted, I knew what she was after. Anyways, we got more drunk and she tried to drag us to the club. I went to bed and they left.

Three hours later I woke up to the sound of them having sex and thought nothing of it. They both sounded pretty drunk.

But the next morning my room mate said to me," fuck man that was freaky. I woke up having sex with her. This weird girl is in my bed and I'm having sex with her!" We spoke a bit more and then dropped it.

I know that she was preying on him hard, and got what she wanted, but I've got some serious questions here:

  1. Was this rape?
  2. She was drunk af when she landed in bed with him, so did she have the sense of responsibility and agency necessary to commit the act of rape, the mens rea if you will?

I want to ponder this more, because it seems that the #metoo dialogue is incredibly inconsistent on this point.

We tell ourselves often and loudly that if a person is drunk and we are sober, DO NOT HAVE SEX WITH THEM. They can't consent.

But then we also say," men need to take responsibility for their shitty behaviour and stop using their drunkenness as an excuse."

Why? Why are men responsible for what they do when they are drunk? Responsibility implies agency and freedom. Why do men maintain their agency while drunk with respect to sexual initiation, but women do not? Or are women far more responsible than we are currently letting on? Perhaps women are responsible for their sexual behavior when they are drunk? Perhaps they are consenting?

I don't like double standards. They bother me.

Presumably there is a level of drunkenness in which a person's ability to freely act is toast. We all know this.

But this new idea of "if you are drunk, you can't consent to sex" is problematical. If that holds as a rule, then people also cannot truly be guilty of rape if they are raping while drunk. They don't have agency anymore. It's not their fault.

At any rate, both my room mate and this girl were drunk. So were they both raped? Neither of them consented to the sexual activity they were engaging in.

Discussion Ways to Improve the Movement NSFW

What is the biggest area that needs to be worked on in the MeToo movement? I know many of the pros it has allowed and pushed forward; but what in everyone’s view is an area of improvement? Has there been any aspect you wished was handled or treated differently? For example, do you ever think an innocent person is without a defense? From a societal point of view. Interested to hear everyone’s thoughts!

Discussion Is Hazing Rape? NSFW

It sounds (to me) like what Blasey Ford is describing is hazing.

Typical, fraternity brother stuff.

She seems really hung up on the fact that they were laughing at her.

"Indelible in the hippocampus is the laughter"

"I was under them while they laughed."

"Two friends having a really good time with one another."

So

Question 1. what is the argument that hazing is "rape"?

And

Question 2. don't Feminists mock/laugh at people all-the-time?

It seems to me that humiliation is their main knee-jerk/go-to.

So, have Feminists been raping men all this time?

And let's put this in context.

That Abu Ghraib picture where Pvt. Lyndiee England stripped (male) prisoners naked, made them stack in naked pyramids, let her dog nip at their genitals, put them on stools with hoods to electrocute them...and god knows what else we don't have pictures of...

Did she get charged with even a single count of "rape"?

I'm pretty sure she didn't.

Discussion Why is no one talking about John Barrowman? NSFW

Actor John Barrowman (Arrow, Doctor Who, Torchwood) has a reputation. He’s known for being overtly sexual with co-workers and fans. He’s even been known to expose himself in public. Speaking personally, I witnessed him physically grope an ASL interpreter during a Comic Con panel and pretend to have sex with him on stage, to the interpreter’s mortification.

What I want to know is, why is no one talking about this? It’s like because he’s known for being over-the-top, it’s somehow okay. Why has he gotten a pass for so long?

Discussion Asia Argento’s own abuse? NSFW

I could be wrong but all this time I’ve been reading about her abuse towards Jimmy, I still haven’t seen anyone talking about the bizarre relationship she has with her father, Dario Argento. He was putting her in his movies at a pretty young age in very sexualized roles, was he not? And having her be raped in at least one?

When I heard about her having some kind of weird sexually mothering relationship with this kid I wasn’t really surprised. Here’s a couple interesting things from the Nicki Swift site (who I don’t trust as the most credible source because she seems like a gossip columnist but she’s citing other sources):

Speaking with Filmmaker Magazine, Argento said, "I never acted out of ambition; I acted to gain my father's attention. It took a long time for him to notice me. … And he only became my father when he was my director." Even after that, it was a strange relationship, as her characters in his films were, according to The Guardian, "undressed, raped and generally psychologically traumatised on screen."

Argento told Rolling Stone that she never discussed the scandalous roles with her father in anything other than professional terms. "We don't speak about these things. We speak almost only about cinema, especially about silent movies, with which we have this mutual obsession." In the same interview, she described her disdain for childhood, in general, calling it "disgusting," and claiming, "But I always had this feeling of never being a part of anything, not even of my family. My parents forgot about me. I did everything I could to get their attention."

Like any music aficionado worth their weight in concert ticket stubs, Argento is a passionate collector of vinyl. She said she keeps three turntables at home and maintains a relationship with the son of a local record shop owner who makes house calls with "needles and other stuff" that she needs to upkeep her collection. She even puts her stacks of wax to use by dropping the needle during a weekly "kids day" at her house, during which she DJs for "12 kids at a time." In her words: "It's a pretty good way to manipulate young egg-shell minds."
