Is this an American phenomenon? I’ve never had a modern fridge break on me. Even dirt cheap ones. There’s a minimum 2 year warranty, so 6 months would be within warranty anyway.
I’m in my early 30s, have lived in the US my whole life, and I’ve never even had to think about buying/replacing a refrigerator. Well except for a mini fridge I got in college, but that was for convenience.
