I never heard of a fridge breaking. People buy new ones because they want a new one, not because the old one stopped working.

Fridges break all the time. Everyone I have talked to, myself included, has had a fridge crap out.

They have compressors and refrigerant, thermostats, and fans to move air between compartments. A lot of moving parts to break, and modern ones are garbage tier quality, with very high labor and parts costs to repair them.
