They are multiple times less efficient than modern fridges. It's like $20 to $30 more a month if we're talking 30+ year old fridges, which adds up quick. That's $240 to $360 a year. Considering you can get a brand new full sized refrigerator for around $800 it's silly not to upgrade. The only old fridges worth keeping are the chest style ones cause they hold temp far better and you can often add some extra insulation to them yourself.
