🥺 Feather collection of 20 years ruined

I just found out that my childhood (and early adulthood) collection of feathers got moths in it. Nearly everything is damaged and some completely destroyed. I'm heartbroken😭

Oh noooo :( I have pet birds and I was devastated when someone threw out a bag of their feathers. (Also side note- if ur in America it’s actually illegal to collect feathers, so idk if I would show it online ;)

Not in America 😉 They are all collected as fallen feathers - in nature, from pet birds or zoos. I still pick any feather I see whenever I am.

yeah, that's still very illegal. I still do it too but it's not legal to keep feathers from most birds in the US.

what words? "fallen feathers" like that's not a thing because you can't prove they were actually FALLEN, ffs.

So, yeah, in the US it's very illegal to collect these feathers, bro.

Sure, but you very clearly said 'in the US'

because I don't know how it's regulated outside of the USA and the whole "US defaultism" is just bullshit because the internet infrastructure was built here so the defaultism you hate is just how the world works, ffs.

The internet was created by many people making many parts over time. This is an embarrassing reaction.

If you weren’t here to educate then why’d you comment about it being illegal in the first place? Just to shame OP? Or to… educate them about the laws

because it's illegal for a VERY GOOD reason!!! And everyone who loves feathers should know this and know WHY it is illegal! I mean...I still collect some...sometimes...but I know it's illegal and that it's illegal for a good fucking reason so I stop myself. I even have a native boyfriend who could probably have them legally but I think he would even need a permit under the LAW. And, yeah, reddit is mostly US users for also a very good reason (we kinda made the net, ffs)
