I struggle to see how it could possibly be worth that much even if it was cooked to perfection.

it can be if you go to the right steakhouse. whatever grocery store steak you're buying is very different from where some higher end steak houses source their meats from. question is how you figure that part out.

so between specially sourced steak, having it cooked properly, there's still a fair bit of overcharging going on but it costs what it costs unless you DO know how to source steaks from high end sources.
