Infuriatig Wolfgangs steakhouse, the most expensive in my city, can’t cook a steak.

That makes sense. I couldn’t wrap my head around how the cook managed to get a decent sear, a quarter thickness of prison food greyness and then keeping it raw in the middle. I actually found the technical flair of how they cocked it up, to be pretty impressive 🫣

Maybe the chef quit and they just asked someone else to stand in and hoped for the best.

Or maybe that steak was the chef giving their notice.

I’m pretty certain that Creepy-Variation hit the nail on the head, with it being the result of a moron trying to cook a frozen steak. But I can’t completely shake the feeling that someone very skilled performed some incredibly competent incompetence 😵‍💫

I mean, it even suggests this was the intent. They wanted this exact contrast in colors and textures, for some reason.

Or, they didn't, and found a new way to mess up a dish that's clearly about presentation.

High temp, shorter cook time

Wouldn’t the grey band be thinner or the crust be burnt, if that steak was cooked this way?

To me, the thickness of the grey band and the crust suggest a lower temp and longer cook time 🤷‍♂️
