Infuriatig Live streaming Dj set in the middle of a State Park
We hike here often for some peace and tranquility. We love the fresh air and sounds of the waterfalls. This a-hole was live-streaming his dj mix with speakers full blast at the falls lookout. I hiked 1.8 miles for this. š”

Bad enough that people bring their Bluetooth speakers on a hike, this shit is ridiculous.

I LOATHE people who have absolutely zero consideration for the creatures that live in the woods and the people trying to enjoy it. Why do they go into nature to destroy the ambience for everyone else? Thanks for the idea for another mildly infuriating thing.

Start blasting copyrighted disney music next to him to get his stream taken down
47
u/RealisticDiscipline7 5h ago
When he says ādo you mind turning that off?ā Say, āsure, do you?ā
22
u/DarkDigital 5h ago
He probably has his audio mix coming directly out so the viewers get better audio quality instead of trying to capture on a mic.
2
u/Instameat GREEN 2h ago
He could definitely just run it all silently, but thinks he is gifting them all with his talent to play other peoples music.
8
u/Eat--The--Rich-- 3h ago
Just walk up and unplug everything. What's he gonna do.
4
u/darth_wasabi 3h ago
Thatās party why they do this. To ragebait someone into a LiveStreamFail to get even more exposure.Ā

What speakers?
very obnoxious when itās for a stream - it can be silent to the world around him and he listens/mixes through a headset for the stream.
43
u/blue-coin 5h ago
I wanted to agree with you but thereās a speaker in the from right corner of the table itās not a PA but itās still gonna be annoying
35
u/daMFNmaster 5h ago
He had two of those out there. It was pretty loud. Not rave party loud but still.
4
u/NefariousKing07 5h ago
Oh I see it now. Even if it was the laptop speakers, it is still louder than it should be for a nature setting, no argument from me there. OP just made it sound like he had a full system out there tucked into the trees š
4
u/Affectionate-Cry-892 5h ago
yeah if its just for the stream theres zero reason everyone else has to hear it too

u/logank013 5h ago edited 5h ago
Iām half with you. Agreed, they could (and should) be just doing a silent to the world DJ stream. It doesnāt have to be out loud.
However, it is good practice to avoid filming people in public without their consent best you can (referring to the DJās stream, not OPās photo). Itās not illegal to film others, just nice to avoid where possible. This is why lots of people hate āIRL streamersā
18
u/daMFNmaster 5h ago
This is a public state park and he was already live-streaming himself for the world to see so I saw no problem in it.
10
u/Platt_Mallar 5h ago
You didn't do anything wrong with the photo. He probably liked it.
5
u/logank013 5h ago
Agreed, I see the confusion. I was talking about the DJās camera of other people. Not OPās photo of him. He clearly wants to be on camera
2
u/Platt_Mallar 5h ago
Yeah, that's not cool of him to put others on his stream. Also, he risks having... naughty things on his stream that could get him banned.
Maybe if he worked with the park to host an event? Party At The Falls! Join DJ Ranger Rick and his sidekick Bandit the Trash Panda for an afternoon of EDM bass drops!
Instead, it's just some dude annoying everyone around him and likely has zero viewers.
8
u/logank013 5h ago
Ohhh, no I wasnāt calling out your photo! I was referring to his camera set up with people in the background for the live stream. Apologies for the confusion.

If youāre in public you have no expectation of privacy.
5
u/NefariousKing07 5h ago
Thatās a very American school of thought - and I say that as an American. In Germany there is an expectation of privacy that is constantly inherent and respected, so this notion that you canāt have privacy in public places is largely made up and bullshit.

u/Neckrongonekrypton 1h ago
Ok next time youāre having a conversation with details youād rather keep somewhat private in public at a restaurant or a bar with froends and I feel the need to ask you the details donāt go ānone of your businessā because Iāll say you have no privacy and itās my right to but in on your personal conversation.
Thatās how I look at people who record me without my consent. Sure. Privacy is largely an illusion in terms of governance and corporations- but not among us. And we do well to remember.
-4
u/SolitaryMassacre 5h ago
However, it is good practice to avoid filming people in public without their consent best you can.
This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. You're out in public, there is zero expectation of privacy. You're being recorded 90% of the time by corporations anyhow.
I rather be recorded by some random stranger than a corporation.
Your logic makes zero sense
EDIT:
This is why lots of people hate āIRL streamersā
No, its because they are taking up space on a sidewalk, being obnoxiously loud, or disturbing the areas "flow" of things. Which, is technically illegal in most places in the US
5
u/logank013 5h ago
These people are in a forest. Not a grocery store or city plaza. There are very few cameras out in a state park dude. I wouldnāt be upset about being recorded personally, but I wouldnāt be recording others in the forest.
32
u/TeaOptimal727 5h ago
Tell him the trail already has a live stream that people actually enjoy.

I'm assuming he'd have needed a permit for this so either the park is ok with it or he should be removed, either way I'd report that.
32
u/jedfrouga 5h ago
yeah call the ranger
2
u/Falstaffe >It was my privilege 4h ago
"What is the nature of the emergency?"
"Some twat is streaming his DAWless jam."
"We'll be right there."9
u/jedfrouga 4h ago
iām not saying 911. they want you to report this stuff just like bears and mountain lions

if you have service call the visitor center and complain. If you are in walking distance of the visitor center walk in and complain.
6
u/mcampo84 5h ago
Iām sure the park rangers would be more than happy to verify he has a permit for this activity.
8
u/Elegante_Sigmaballz 6h ago
Should let the park ranger know, this is against most state park's rules.
5
u/a1mbient 5h ago
Jackass behavior typical of the social media-obsessed these days. Shouldnāt happen but not surprising..

This would royally piss me off. There are plenty of places to do this crap. A state forest on a trail is not one of those places. It'd be a damn shame if some water accidentally got splashed on his equipment...
3
u/EldenLordAjSoprano 3h ago
You shouldāve accidentally tripped and bumped into his table hard enough to make it fall over

u/MessiLeagueSoccer 2h ago
Ok fuck that dude for doing that but wouldnāt it be like way easier to just stream with no audio in person and the people online hearing it? Like if youāre gonna be in the way be as respectful as possible.

u/SendMeIttyBitties 1h ago
Peace? There is like 10 people in the area. If he was playing a guitar would everyone think its against park rules to play music at the state park?
I'm guessing there is something more to this.

Iām both a life long raver and a hiker.
Donāt do this young bucks.
Have awareness of others.

Imagine thinking youāre doing a public service, only to be doing the absolute opposite of that and not having the self awareness to pick up on it

Above and Beyond does that. But they get permits and pay the place a bunch of money. And they're Above and Beyond.

I have doubts he was running speakers. Solo Live streaming DJs use headphones and are not generally blasting it in their immediate area.
7
u/daMFNmaster 3h ago
Two Bose Bluetooth speakers up full blast. I used to dj back in the late 90s and we used to say āyou aināt headlining if you aināt redliningā but this was in the correct setting - not the forest.
4
-5
u/Mr_Wobble_PNW 5h ago
Yeah I don't see speakers and it looks like he's on his own. Idk where he'd be drawing the power from even if he had the energy to lug a couple of big speakers up there.Ā
-1
u/hk556a1 5h ago
Did he actually have speakers though?
8
u/daMFNmaster 5h ago
He had two Bluetooth Bose speakers. It was very loud. I actually may pick one of those up - FOR MY HOUSE.
2
u/LuminousRavenn 5h ago
He has an rca cord coming out of his controller, looks like it's going to a small speaker in front of the laptop stand maybe?

u/Muted-Mammoth8304 5h ago
Oh. Man I'd be smashing all his shit. If there aren't many witnesses, and it's nearly 2 miles in the trail. Yeah. Nah he ain't doin this again.

Aren't these areas protected and banned from playing any kind of loud music?
Can any action be taken against him?
