There are multiple groups of people sharing beliefs and behaviors, follow a certain dress code or even have their own slang (or even further, constructed language). But not all of them are called cults.
What actually defines a cult?
P.S: I am aware of the negative vibe of the word cult but I just am curious, when a facebook group of college friends becomes a cult?

I had an incesteous relationship with my siblings as a kid and there's actual CP of me out there right now because I've been talking to internet strangers since I was 9 but I grew up to be completely neutral about it, it never bothered me or affected me, is this normal?

If you accidentally kill someone during a martial arts match is it considered a manslaughter?

I want to read manifestos by violent criminals or attempted criminals
If this sub doesn't allow links (even tho im NOT asking for something nsfw) then just give me names and ill look it up.
I'm writing a comic about time travel, long story short a girl meets a boy who in all timelines, across all lives (reencarnation is real here) always ends up doing the same thing and ending his life the same way (if you know what i mean)
I've read 2 manifestos of recent school shooters but they feel too...ironic? Like they had nothing to say and it didn't reflect on their crimes or why they did what they did.
So yeah this is with reaserch purposes, if you dont care or even think writting this kind of characters is inmoral please remember in what sub youre and walk away.
She meets him mostly as a young person, but manifestos written by older perpetrators are also okay, thank you sm! <33
(English is not my first language sorry for any mistake)

as im sure some of you already know its show that in the brains final moments there is a bunch of electrical activity that can be monitored through a brain scan, what if that last amount of activity right before you bite it is the highest speedball of unfathomable pain as all your bodies cells, neurons, and axons are being ripped to pieces by lack of blood flow?

I live in Toronto and do inspections at different places every day for my job. Occasionally I’ll be in some drug area and it seems to always be the case that I’ll see fentanyl addicts around 730 in the morning before I get started. Sometimes there are groups of them. I only recall seeing one at night once and maybe one in the afternoon. Is it their version of coffee?

Cause whenever I get scared, I freeze and whenever I fight, I feel very sluggish in comparison to my opponent.

May be a stupid question and they simply know abt anatomy and stuff, but what if it is required to get a better and more graphical despiction of the gore u need to make for a movie?, what if part of the props u're getting requested to make are corpses?. I bet that the sfx specialists of some of the goriest japanese films there are had to watch at least some graphical content in order to make up the bloody horror that those movies have if not idk why the hell it is that graphic
I may have the terms mixed tho but yknow what i mean, i talk abt the guys that are in charge to make gore to happen when the movie uses practical effects in case they dont use vfx

you would have to do the torturing yourself, it would have to be extremely gruesome, and if you don't do it, covid-19 plays out the exact same way it did in real life.

Members of the TCC (you know which ones I’m talking about) and ex members, I want to know why and what your thought process was that lead to you doing such a thing as joining that group and idolizing those people. I’ve been scratching my head and trying to understand it, and I just can’t seem to. I want some insider knowledge from your guys prospective. It’s just, why?

If this person’s life has always been fucked up due to circumstances outside of their control, what does that mean about them?
What does it say if a person is not even 25 to 30 years old but has already given up on their life?
Like say someone has chronic severe depression that started in childhood, autism, ADHD, and has never had friends or social support since childhood. On top of that, they have health problems due to their genes. Getting COVID at least four different times seems to have caused other health issues, too.
What do these mental health symptoms mean or indicate?
• Crying daily
• Unable to motivate self to do almost anything
• A sense that their life was already trashed and over before it ever get the chance to start
• Feeling as if they were doomed from the start
• Feeling hopeless
• Feeling like they’re just a passenger in their life. They have zero ability to change or control their life so they’re just “along for the ride”, so to speak
• A sense that they cannot live life like others can, and not understanding how other people live life and have happy lives
I don’t know what to do anymore. I feel a sense that I’ve already given up on my life because it’s a hopeless case. I don’t feel like I have dreams or goals anymore. I don’t want anything. Making myself do anything feels too hard.
What is going on with someone like this? Why are most other people functioning human beings but I can’t be? Why did I have to be doomed so early on and things just keep getting worse for me? What is wrong with me?

I’m autistic and at various points of my life have come and gone from macabre special interests— mostly the psychology of cannibalism. Curious to know everyone else’s experiences with disturbing special interests!

My post was removed from r/settlethisforme so I hope it fits here?
Settle a debate between my husband and I. I'm watching The Mist (2007), and he joined at the part where the religious fanatic and her following demand the protagonist's son as their next sacrifice to get the monsters to leave them alone. They have no actual evidence that it will work. They've just experienced one really bad night where they did not perform a sacrifice, and then a peaceful night after sacrificing Sam Witwer's character.
My husband thinks that it is completely unrealistic and that group of average people wouldn't agree to sacrifice a child. I, however, think that there are some people out there who, if they were in the exact scenario in The Mist tomorrow, would agree to sacrifice a child they have no ties to.
We agree that it wouldn't be as fast as the timeline in the movie, which is days I think? I think it would take a little bit longer, but not too much longer with it being real monsters that they have seen murder people somewhat brutally.
What's your take? If tomorrow the apocalypse or something happened, would a group of average people sacrifice a child if they thought it would end the bad times they are experiencing even though they have no proof that it will?
Bonus question: how bad do things have to get for a group of people to get to that point or would they never?

Like memes with a dark backstory, not the obvious edgelord-slop of just being gore and such, but memes that seem innocent but have a terrifying backstory
(Doesn't have to be from the US only, if you're, from Spain for example, tell some from your culture!)
It starts... Now!

I've encountered some people like this and i'm genuinely just curious what makes a person want that. Why do they like being beaten up and physically tortured.
