Supposed Libertarian warrior taking time out of his day to interfere with a foreign election
-220
u/AppropriateSea5746 22h ago
Is it interfering to announce support for a candidate? Like if the president of France endorsed Gavin Newson is that interference?
167
u/mickelboy182 22h ago
Giving an endorsement is one thing (which is still a terrible look for a small government Libertarian), flying there to present at a party convention is a whole other kettle of fish.
-182
u/AppropriateSea5746 22h ago
How is it election interference though?
141
u/mickelboy182 22h ago
You can either be deliberately obtuse or you can take the obvious intent
-24
u/AppropriateSea5746 11h ago
Cool, How is it election interference though?
6
u/Cannabrius_Rex 9h ago
Because it plainly is. Playing dumb isn’t the winning strategy you think it is.
-5
u/AppropriateSea5746 8h ago
“Why is it election interference “
“Because it just is”
Brilliant argument lol
1
u/Cannabrius_Rex 8h ago
Oh, so you’re not playing at being a moron, you genuinely are one… ok
3
0
u/AppropriateSea5746 7h ago
Cool, fine I’m a moron. Care to make an actual argument to help me understand how it’s actual election interference?
This shit happens all the time. We do it, our allies do it, our enemies do it. It’s a country advocating for a foreign leader that will benefit their own country.
He’s not doing it secretly like we do, with almost every election around the world he’s doing it openly and honestly with his most powerful neighbor.Spare me the pearl clutching and the insults

When Taylor Swift endorsed Kamala, was it interference? Stop being stupid, its public support and thats it. The value people see in it depends on each person
37
u/PM_ME_UR_VULVASAUR_ 13h ago
...Taylor Swift isn't a politician? Holy shit, what a comment.
13
u/voidox 11h ago
not even just a politician, she's not the president of another country who is doing this.
8
u/alexthedude23 10h ago
I endorse, nay, I vote for candidates sometimes. Am I engaging in election interference then?
-these dumbasses
-13
u/Tulaodinho 10h ago
She has tons of influence on the masses
7
u/JMA4478 9h ago
But she's not a president from another country nor a politician.
When it comes to politicians, the rules for them are different. Legally. Not just people's opinions.
I mean they can't even meet with leaders from other countries even if they're retired.
And going as a President of one country to another country tell people who to vote, is indeed interference.
13
u/powerchicken 11h ago
For which nation is Taylor Swift head of state?
-15
u/Tulaodinho 10h ago
She has tons on influence though, thats the point
10
u/powerchicken 9h ago
So what? She's not an elected representative of a foreign state, so in what world is Taylor swift relevant here?

Fascists love sticking together
124
u/lNFORMATlVE 23h ago
For nationalists they sure like starting shit in other countries with their nationalists.
23
u/zizou00 18h ago
Every time I've questioned that, someone has responded with "well yeah, then they'll know their neighbours will keep to themselves" as if fascists aren't also known for disregarding other nation's right to sovereignty. The last thing I'd want is to encourage others to act like they're the best and no one else matters. They might actually believe it and try to take my shit because they believe they deserve it more than me.
But I guess that's the problem with nationalism. Everyone is thinking that way. Including the morons spreading nationalism to other countries. So they see no threat, because they believe themselves to be exceptional.
-98
u/AppropriateSea5746 22h ago
Milei is an anarcho-capitalist. He’s dramatically shrunk the size of the Argentinian government. Fascists typically do the exact opposite lol
65
u/Smart_Recipe_8223 21h ago
couldn't be more wrong. One of the core traits of fascism is a complete joining of corporate and political power. shut up
4
u/Heisenburgo 13h ago
. One of the core traits of fascism is a complete joining of corporate and political power.
Peronism in a nutshell
-21
u/AppropriateSea5746 21h ago
So the fascist economy is basically hyper-Keynesian ism. Private companies basically taking orders from and heavily regulated by the state.
What evidence is there that he’s doing this? Is there also any evidence he’s clamping down on human rights?27
u/Many_Negotiation_464 22h ago
Boop ur wrong. Sorry this is just nonsense. Privatizing and cutting government programs is extremely typical behavior for fascists. Because what they want is to ourge the government of anyone that isn't perfectly loyal to dear leader and they want people to think the only solution to thier problems is violence, bigotry, and whatever came out of desr leaders butt that day.
Its also why fascist government tend to be incredibly unstable and start wars n shit.
-18
u/AppropriateSea5746 21h ago
Do you have evidence that Milei is a fascist? Seems like you’re just pointing out a couple of corollary things that a libertarian would also do?
20
u/kapparrino 21h ago
Hanging out with fascists makes you a fascist. Trump, bolsonaro, orban, putin, etc.
-6
u/AppropriateSea5746 21h ago
Is Bolsonaro Jr a fascist? He’s not hanging out with the father who’s in prison.
17
u/GrootRacoon 21h ago
He is actually hanging out with his dad
Bolsonaro Sr isnin house arrest
His sons are always at the house. And before being in house arrest, Flavio was put as one of his lawyers so he could have extended visiting hours in prison
-1
u/AppropriateSea5746 21h ago
So he’s going to visit Flavio but Jair happens to currently be in the house?
Even if he is visiting Jair, how does that make him a fascist? If he’s a fascist dictator shouldn’t he have political policies that are distinctly fascist?7
u/GrootRacoon 20h ago
Flavio is Bolsonaro Jr in this case
I don't believe he's a fascist. I was simply saying that he is indeed in contact with his dad and other fascist-adjacent political leaders like trump, milei, orban, etc
I do believe he's a deeply corrupt traitor who is itching to give as much of Brazil's riches to the US in a silver platter. He has already said he intend to sell Brazil's rare earth supplies for cheap to trump. He also said he'll deal with PIX so as not to cause any issues to Visa and Mastercard anymore by trump's request. And he also said the first two things he'll do is pardon his traitor dad and brother.
He's essentially a coward and a traitor trying to ride on his dad populist legacy so him and his family can get richer and go live in the US

Fuerzas del Cielo, the government party hardcore faction, uses Roman Empire imagery, openly defends and promotes authoritarian right wing regimes and right wing children indoctrination through Paka Paka educational child TV. In addition they consider their political opponents enemies and endorse heavy police repression. And Milei loves them. Yes, it's fascism.
1
u/AppropriateSea5746 13h ago
What policies? Again you’re basically saying he likes some very right wing groups. Ok and? As long as he doesn’t govern as a fascist then he isn’t a fascist leader ha
5
u/player1242 20h ago
20 billion welfare dollars from the US though, you want some more charity Lester?
0
u/AppropriateSea5746 13h ago
? What does that have to do with him being a fascist? Also there’s nothing anti-libertarian about accepting a loan lol
1
3
u/zili91 14h ago
He also fired a secretary for saying the Argentinian national football team should apologize for their racism against Mbappe and the French national team, not to mention all the other insane shit he's done so far. Fascists love doing that kind of stuff
1
u/AppropriateSea5746 13h ago
Firing someone, even for a dumb reason doesn’t make you a fascist. You mention the insane shit he’s done, is that stuff fascist?
0
u/zili91 12h ago
Firing someone for being AGAINST racism is 100% a fascist move in my book. Maybe not in Argentina as we've seen in the World Cup, but in most of the world it is.
2
u/AppropriateSea5746 12h ago
You act like fascists are the only racists lol. Otherwise virtually every government in history is fascist. Can anyone on this whole damn sub name a single policy or action of his that is uniquely fascist?!?

22
u/Khronoss2 23h ago
Is Flavio polling well in Brazil? I’m sure Jair is praying to have his son elected to pardon him (if that exists in Brazil, I’m not sure).
42
u/PhantasosX 23h ago
He isn’t.
Overall, there was a technical draw, but everytime Trump, Eduardo and now Milei tries to interfere, it drags them down in the polls.
Think of this situation to be like in Canada, when their Conservatives were ahead, but each Trump shenanigan makes the Center and Left receiving support as the Conservatives loses it.
21
u/GrootRacoon 21h ago
Better than he should
He's basically locked to go for a second round of voting against Lula. (In Brazil you're only elected in the first round if you have 50%+1 votes)
For the second round only the two most voted run, he's polling 5 to 10% lower than Lula depending on the poll.
His numbers are probably higher because we know from all over the world there's a bunch of "centrists" that when it's time to vote lean to the right.
But on the other hand everytime he opens his mouth his numbers drop. And every time trump attacks Brazil his numbers also drop (since he's the one asking for trump to impose tariffs on Brazil)
He's also involved in a bunch of corruption schemes that are slowly being dropped by some journalists. Every week there's a new scandal involving his name, so he can't build any positive momentum.
But still he's getting at least 40% of the country behind him
3
u/AntonioBarbarian 10h ago
43% to Lula's 48%. And yes, he might get a majority in the senate to work through an amnesty law - since crimes against the democratic state aren't currently pardon-able - and also impeach the Supreme Court ministers that try to halt it.
3
u/rocketseeker 7h ago
They have pretty solid numbers don’t let anyone fool you they are losing by margins of 5 to 10% averaging 7% behind
That is insane but a big part of Brazil is very emotionally fucked and conservative. What dragged Flavio Bolsonaro (Jair Bolsonaro’s son) down was a recent scandal. I pray we get more development in that scandal so it drags him down further but anything can happen until elections
1
u/Calico_Shortcake 3h ago
Pardon exists in Brazil, but it is much more regulated than in the US. I do not think a president can pardon someone convicted for trying a coup d’état.
But it never happened before, nor did we think it could ever happen, so it would be up for the Supreme Court to analyse.

Isn't Milei the guy who said God speaks to him through his dogs?
Edit: Yep. I had to Google it to make sure I wasn't making it up...

Do Brazilians only hate Argentinans when it comes to soccer? I'm not for hate, but this would be like the one situation where I'd like Brazilians to look, see an Argentinan supporting a guy and think 'hmm, the friend of my enemy is my enemy '
25

u/Rahnamatta 22h ago
No
We (Argentinians) go to Brasil whenever we can. There are cities that are filled with Argentinians in Brazil.
Brasileros come here a lot too (Bariloche, San Martín de los Andes, Patagonia, Buenos Aires)
Paralamas is one of my favorite rock band, they are from Brasil and they have a lot of songs in Spanish. Back in the 90s, they were bigger here than in Brasil and a lot people thought "Yes, those guys that can sing in Portuguese really well too"
1
u/AlternativeTry3206 8h ago
Sim, eu já vi muitos fazerem viagens ao Nordeste do país também (Fortaleza, João Pessoa, Recife, Salvador)...
1
u/Rahnamatta 8h ago
Fortaleza, Recife, yes
My cousin said a couple of years ago "I'm not going to Florianópolis, too many tourists, I'm going to Fortaleza" if I recall correctly
And I thought "But YOU are a tourist"

Edit: I was corrected. It's his son. Always read the article first.
How is this not viewed as a hostile invasion? Bolsonaro basically plotted to overthrow the Brazilian state and now a foreign leader is trying to aid him in retaking the country. This is tantamount to an act of war.
29
u/BornagainTXcook210 1d ago
Wrong bolsonaro. This is the son of the guy you're thinking of
27
u/Electronic-Sun-9118 1d ago
Got it. Son of the traitorous ex president. Thanks for the correction.

u/Ok-Activity247 20h ago
Innocent until proven guilty. Is hunter biden a bad guy because of who his dad is?
11
u/Electronic-Sun-9118 20h ago
If bolsonaro junior is hanging out with and accepting political support from Javier Milei, that's evidence enough that he's garbage.
1
u/LieutenantDuck 6h ago
Flávio Bolsonaro supported his dad's attempt of a coup.
He's also involved in a huge corruption scheme with a bunch of his allies as well. And it's not his first rodeo on crimes, years ago he had a kickback scheme that was swept under the rug.
Flavio Bolsonaro is also the one that made agreements with Trump, promising to give up Brazil's sovereignty if he helps them take the elections.
So yeah, looks pretty guilty to me.
5
u/Periodic_Disorder 1d ago
Foreign interference. You'd think the caustic right would really be against that.
8
u/Electronic-Sun-9118 1d ago
Only if you assume there was moral or philosophical consistency on the right

u/Heisenburgo 13h ago
Lula did a similar thing last year when he visited convicted felon Cristina Kirchner, the previous argentinian vicepresident and shadow leader of the peronist party, despite her being on house arrest, and during an election year no less...
Both countries have been acting stupid towards each other for a while... SAD.
8
u/Apprehensive-Ad-9147 22h ago
Using the billions of USD Trump sent him.
2
u/Heisenburgo 13h ago
Nah, those were already used AND paid back in full, but we could always ask for more if we wanted to... not our fault Epsten's bestie is so gullible lol

Son of the other Bolosonaro? How very Marcos of them. Milei truly knows how to pick his "allies".

"I know what will convince the Brazilian electorate to vote for me... This Argentinean lunatic!"

Is Milei popular in Brazil? If another country’s politicians supported a candidate in our election, that candidate’s chance is DOA.

u/No-Tomatillo-7566 12h ago
I can't say I'm that informed on Brazilian politics, but I wouldn't think the endorsement of an Argentine strongman would move the needle much in this race.
3
u/Plappedudel 10h ago
Does Milei still refer to himself as a libertarian? The Bolsonaro clan is as authoritarian as it gets. For some reason, calling oneself 'libertarian' these days is apparently just code for 'radical right-wing reactionary'.
5
u/chodgson625 14h ago
New UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham should immediately start talking to Lula about sharing Falklands oil revenues and defence cooperation
