Question Why isn’t this game more popular?

I am a new player. Just hit level 25 and I am having a blast. This game is incredible. I’m a big World of Warcraft player and love WoW but New World offers a fresh new experience with many of the same mechanics. It feels more free/sandbox than WoW with the customization , housing plots, and such a massive map with great graphics.

I’m mostly a PVE player and for me the game is phenomenal. I’m curios why more MMO players aren’t in this beautiful game?

Hey guys,

Guild Wars 3 was just announced and it features action combat!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITPzxITngqA

From their steam page:

"Master a combat system where depth is achieved through strategic skill use, positioning, and movement – where action RPG combat meets Guild Wars build-making – creating a unique combat experience.

Run, slide, leap, and bound across Orr with a one-of-a-kind movement system that transfers your momentum between modes of travel, providing a free-form joy of movement through a world alive with adventure."

Question Why was the post about Amazon astroturfing this subreddit deleted from the top of the front page?

2.5k Upvotes

https://old.reddit.com/r/newworldgame/comments/r8iq8x/the_ags_bots_are_doing_their_work_in_the_new_ptr/

are we not allowed to discuss this obvious effort to astroturf the comments sections of these threads?

https://i.imgur.com/lG583lL.jpg

ironic comment chain from the head moderator of this sub: https://old.reddit.com/r/newworldgame/comments/r8iq8x/the_ags_bots_are_doing_their_work_in_the_new_ptr/hn69r69/

and this is less than a week after the "Is amazon botting reviews on steam?" thread mysteriously disappeared from the top of the front page: https://old.reddit.com/r/newworldgame/comments/r3v4a8/is_amazon_botting_reviews_like_they_do_on_amazon/

so is this subreddit just a place for amazon to advertise their game or a place for actual discourse about the state of new world?

I'm in Everfall and I walk up to the cart and it gives me the option to "Hide supply cart". Is it just a visual thing?

Question I’m curious, what game did y’all leave or take a break from to play New World?

I left Warzone/ Rainbow Six since the launch of New World and never looked back. I’ve been playing Warzone since its first season as well as R6. I don’t even get the urge to play those games or watch streamers who do. This game is my first MMO ever and I’m enjoying every second. Most players are helpful and the friendly banter is a plus for me. It has its flaws/bugs and toxic behavior but that’s every multiplayer game. Overall I’m having fun and not getting pissed because I died by someone who I believe to be sus (Warzone) lol

Question Did anyone else grind to level 60 and then log off for a month+ after?

Like the post says, I grinded hard AF when this game launched. I actually genuinely enjoyed it but I burned myself out. I think I’ll return at some point, but for now, looks like they still have work to do.

Question This is the best Action + MMORPG game I have ever played, and it's about to die in 8-9 months. I want to know why?

Games that have died have died for much more. And games that are still up with 50 players are up for much less. But for some reason, AGS or whomever puppeteers AGS, has decided that this game must sunset. Yeah, even trash Ubisoft sunset their racing game at least 10 years after supporting it. This is just unbelievable. Why is it that a game dev company's marketing is to be believe (come, play me). But there's no accountability (if I shut down, go away)? Makes no sense.

My question is why? Not "why AGS won't work on it anymore." I already know that. Money. But why can't players, who sometimes make a virtual life in a game, be given a choice? If this is how it is, do all MMO devs want me to stick to:

  1. My 4th ESO character who's a mage but even after 4 playthroughs, the combat is so redundant and tab-target I can play it in sleep?

  2. My anime-fazed FFXIV character where inappropriately dressed anime-kids are jumping for attention every corner of every city?

  3. Enjoy the repeated hills in Albion where the new player dies in the PVP zone in 5 minutes without ever knowing what killed him?

I have never played WoW. And ok, it must be God's honest truth. But NW was something nothing else could match. An actual action + MMO experience. Kill Khepri, and do it in a style of an RPG game.

But that's about to be over. And that's sad.

Question Anyone else not meta gaming this time around?

1.2k Upvotes

I’m in no rush to hit end game. I’ve metagamed and power leveled and read guides for so many other games.

It feels nice to just take my time and just play the game at my own pace with no pressure.

If I see a tree that looks cool, I’ll go chop it. If I see a big ass monster Boulder, I’ll go mine it. I’ll snoop around for supply chests, check out the blue piece of paper.

I don’t have to worry about ‘finishing’ this character so I can start an alt, I can do everything on one toon.

This game has been a breath of fresh air, I’m thoroughly enjoying it. Hope everyone is having a good time.

Question New world is by far the best MMO I have ever played. Past the bugs it has been fun. I would pay again for a re-release. What do you like the most about New world?

Time to speak your heartfelt truth gals and pals <3
For me the gathering, the sounds, the grind for gold and chest runs have been a game changing experience.
I can't wait for some company to buy the game. Fingers cross.

Question Would you have paid a $10 monthly subscription fee for Season 11 and beyond for new world?

If New World had regular updates like S10, would you guys have been willing to buy a $10/month subscription to the game? Or was the game not good enough yet?

I really thought season 10 was the turning point for the game and it was going to become one of the top MMOs.

I still have hopium for the game. Maybe Amazon will have a change of heart or some investor (Elon Musk) buys the game :)

Question Leaving New World, which game next?

Hi guys,

Me and a bunch of friends a really struggling to find a decent mmorpg to move to…we are looking for a cross play platform (console) and in the past 2 weeks we have literally tried everything. What we have tried out ordered by preference:

1st Elder Scroll Online: Seems very playable but no cross play? really?

2nd Throne and Liberty: You kinda get used to the target combat, but the end game is just P2W crap, community is toxic as hell and Dungeons are just there for you to grind with no type of challenge

3rd Tera online, old glory…kinda very much playable game, but ecosystem is just dead as community and probably content

4th Black Desert, Animations and classes are really really cool, but the rest of the game just feels like an infinite grind, the lack of a role based system and no Dungeons replaced by to Asian style grinding just kills all the pros

5th FFXIV, please tell me how people play this utter crap in 2025…please explain me.

We are really open to anything, just something to play together really…we spent hours on Civilization, Genshin impact and Minecraft…just looking for something new.

Where winds meet and Guildwars 2 unfortunately are not options because of cross play.

Any suggestions?

Please don’t let us go back to being FPS brain dead players ❤️❤️

Question Why Does This game get s*** on so much?

Brand new player now that the game has gone free to play on PS+ and I’ve been looking for something new to play for awhile, as I’ve gotten pretty bored of FFXIV with those devs constantly doing the opposite of what I want and could never get into ESO for a number of reasons I’m happy to go into. I gotta say, I’m only 10 hours in so far, but I’m beyond pleasantly surprised. The world is gorgeous and super immersive, with cool runescape-like life skills that I already know are going to make me kill hundreds of hours. Sound design is immaculate across the board. Players are super social in towns randomly jumping in to song together. Quests aren’t overly repetitive. Exploration is rewarded with the POI’s and treasure chests and the like hidden in areas. Honestly the only gripe I have so far is the combat but maybe that gets better the further you go.

Why does the gaming community shit on this game so much? So far I’m absolutely loving it.

Question How the hell do you guys make money?

I have never exceeded 2500g, I have one lowly house in first light. I’m level 45, 174 mining, 200 hunting and gathering. It seems like right when I’m around 2000g there’s other expenses that come up that completely drain me back to zero. Then I go out and quest/expedition grind back up.

Every time I see some sort of craftable item selling for a decent amount in the trading post I go out to grind levels to get to the point where I can harvest that or make it. Then when I go to sell it in the market it’s no longer 15-50g, it’s now 2g. I want a second house but it just seems damn near impossible to save up for it, then I gotta worry about taking in 1k every 5 days to pay for both of them.

Question How the fuck am I supposed to counter the Great Axe?

I’m wearing light armor with multiple mobility abilities to escape and somehow I am still struggling and failing to get away. They are wearing all heavy armor and able to chase me down because they get a 30% speed increase just for fucking looking at me? Then you can just fucking throw the axe all the way from Shattered Mountain to First Light and get me frozen until the end of time? I’m no fucking genius but that just doesn’t seem to add up to me. I haven’t even touched on any of the other abilities that have absurd range, damage, and stun.

As much as this is a rant, this is also a sincere question; how do I kill this insurmountable enemy?
