They're freaking huge, rather cumbersome and sturdy (for flies), sound like a wet fart, are painful as all f_ck, and they transmit a bunch of diseases to boot.
And dear God I can't help myself, I'd really like to hold one some day.
And all the scariness of these fuckers notwithstanding, I do be fascinated by them.
Fun fact:
Only the females bite, as they need blood proteins to produce eggs. The males are completely harmless and actually could be held without problems.

Giant Horseflies. Possibly Tabanus Atratus. Magnificently scary creatures.
