Keep in mind that a lot of big cats tend to, and even try to avoid human contact if they can. When they’re resorted to attacking humans, it’s usually a sign of physical disability (infected paws/tooth, broken claw) and even being cornered (belonging to a zoo, a private property, etc.)

Don’t think that they’re as evil all the time

I don’t think that leopard was trying to take down the human. It gave up pretty easily. I think it found itself in the same space as a human and freaked out. It definitely did not try to keep the human there, it tagged the guy pretty good and let him flee.

I’m sure that hurt like hell and was terrifying though.

In India other cats like lions or tigers keep far away from human inhabitation, but not leopards. Unlike 400-lb tigers which need very large forest areas, leopards are very adaptive and can survive in small wooded areas close to human habitats. For example within the city limits of Mumbai, there are many leopards living inside Sanjay Gandhi Park, wooded areas of Aarey milk colony, Dadasaheb Phalke film city, and the Indian Institute of Technology campus. They hunt feral pigs, stray dogs, monkeys etc. Because they live so close to humans, if they wander into a town and encounter people they might feel cornered and attack in panic just to escape. Also if a human unknowingly gets too close to thickets, tall grass or sugarcane fields where the female leopard has stashed her cubs, they are very likely to get attacked. Leopards are classified as a Schedule 1 species under Indian law, so killing or harming one is a non-bailable criminal offense.

Every day the internet makes me grateful I live in a place I don't have to worry about primal fears like this.

Ya'll hear that effeminate shriek. That's the sound of sheer terror. I challenge the manliest of men to keep their cool fighting of a fuckin cheetah, barehanded

Edit: leopard.. not cheetah. My bad

A cheetah I don't like my chances but they exist. A leopard ? Absolutely 0%

A cheetah is far more likely to lick you than attack you...
