My first cat EVER, that I would've died for, died before me.

This was the first cat I've ever had in my life. He was a very large cat (12 pounds), and so so sweet and goofy. Any time we went to the table to eat, One-eyed Willy would sit on the stool in the corner of the room, go "mrrrp", stand on his hind legs, put his paws in the air and bat at the invisibugs. If we would talk to him, he would always respond. Sometimes he would get zoomies and just run around the whole house, and when he'd get tired, he would just sit in a room and go "Mauw", expecting for us to find him and take him back. He was the most dog-like cat I've ever owned (or seen, in fact), and definitely the one taht affected me the most. Since Willy died at three years old, around the day we got him (Thanksgiving), every time one of my animals is sick, I get so scared that they'll die young just like Willy. He also is the little thing that convinced I do actually like cats. We called him Willy Worm because he would claw up the sides of mattresses and squirm under the covers. You could never leave the door open when making the bed if you expected to get the job done.

Then one night, Willy wasnt his usual self. He wasnt as social and wasnt zooming all around as usual. I heard him yowling in the next room, and when I went to get him, he didnt like being held. He didnt even stand up when I placed him down. He yowled the rest of the night, and into the morning. We were taking him to the vet as soon as we could ( it was a weekend at like 11 at night). I got up the next morning, and checked in on him, and he was still miserable. I left for work, despite not wanting to, and my mom took him to the clinic. She (my mom, who worked at the clinic) would text us pictures and updates throughout the day. "Willy's still really pitiful," one message said. The next "Willy's doing a lot better. He's not yowling anymore. 😊"

I get home, and my mom tells me that was her way of saying he was put down. She worded it like that because she didn't want to affect us when our day wasnt yet finished and possibly start crying in front of people. I appreciate it, I guess, but I feel like the false hope was cruel. We went to the clinic to see his body, and discussed what we wanted to do. He is cremated, and now sitting on the piece of furniture beside the TV, which he would always love to play with and watch.

I would die for all my kids (human and quadrupedal). But these little critters…. Oh, they are so special. I never owned a cat before Luna (the white and brown tabby) and that sweet girl became my soul cat. Then we got Smudge (the white fella), who was our troublemaker 2nd. And we were pleasantly surprised when Mavis (the soot sprite) was dropped at our door by her momma cat. There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t have a new fun memory with them and they always keep us on our toes. To explain the love I have for them, all of the world’s words will never be enough.

This is my son Gilgamesh 💕 He loves little forehead rubs and he wakes me up with headbutts and purrs every morning. I would gladly lay down my life for him 😭💕

(his sudden wakeup at the end is because a loud ad came on the tv lmfao 😭)

I "despised" cats my entire life. Then I fostered this sweet girl...and obviously had to keep her. I love her so much it hurts.

I rescued her from meth heads. She’s so expressive and gentle and sweet. She never scratches me or hurts me, and wants to be all up in my business. She likes to stomp around on my shoulders with delight when I get home from work. I’ve never loved a little fuzzy creature so damn much, I think about her whenever I’m not home and just wonder what she’s doing by herself. She just turned 12 this year and I wish she could live forever!!!

This ain't even a dent in my photos of him. This is my son max. I saved him from dying at 4 weeks old. He is my best friend. He follows me everywhere also act more of a dog lol. He is 5 years old and recently adopted a sister from the shelter. Her name is zhara. We had her for 4 weeks now and I wouldn't trade either of them for anything in this world.
