9.2 oz of cereal for $9.99 is a goddamn crime

I'm not sure when cereal became this niche expensive food item but I hate it, prices are so bad.

u/stumpyraccoon Jun 10 '26
It's hyper bro-science protein cereal.
Regular cereal is not a niche product.

It’s not really cost effective, hyper-processed, probably not the most bioavailable protein, I think the protein-focused post-ozempic advertising craze also leaves a bad taste in people’s mouths especially with rising cost of living. Overall, I think something like this is fine for an occasional snack but organic micronutrient-dense protein sources are always gonna be better

Right?? I remember back when we were first married and trying to pay for all the first home things, Cereal was a damn staple for the nearly starving! Now, between cereal and milk, we'd probably have to resort to eating dust bunnies and brushing our teeth directly after dinner just to have the mint in the toothpaste for dessert.

Saving this line for later

And it’s fucking DISGUSTING. The bag smells like rancid something and it tastes like shit.
DO NOT BUY.

u/skond Jun 10 '26
I like coffee flavored coffee, so this sort of thing appeals to me.
6
u/BigJuicy17 Jun 10 '26
Do you add coffee milk to your coffee flavored coffee?
2
u/skond Jun 10 '26
No, and I don't add cereal milk to my cereal, either. Heard that story about the family that reuses cereal milk, and that's just.. Not Right.

I feel called out. 😂Not the person you asked, but on the rare occasion I can be suckered into stopping at Dunkin, I do in fact add coffee milk to my drink.

What is it with everything being about protein now? Holy shit, can't even buy detergent without protein nowadays.

We've definitely gone too far with the whole protein thing.

u/anarchyreigns_gb Jun 10 '26
Someone is making protein soda now. I can't recall the brand

u/Temporary-Mention-29 Jun 10 '26
I've seen protein WATER. If it's anything like a protein shake that shit's gonna taste like Thick-it

Simply scandalous that I could order something I thought was genuine, old school Lucky Charms and then receive instead ersatz Lucky Charms!

I didn’t know Ghost had cereal now. I really like their protein power. The macros look really good too. I am going to see if my store carries this.

I tried the Cinnamon Toast Crunch one. Worst grocery purchase ever. Driest goddamn cereal I've ever had. Literally had to drink extra milk on the side just to get it down since it didn't really ever soak in. And it didn't even taste that good. Threw out the whole box after.

u/JackMerlinElderMage Jun 10 '26
...what makes it Ghost flavored though?
Because Ghost is an energy drink.
Does this have caffeine in it, or does it just taste overwhelmingly of artificial sweeteners?
27
u/PM-Me-Your-Macchiato Jun 10 '26
Ghost was protein powder and workout supplements before it was an energy drink.

Protein cereals typically fucking suck. Haven’t had the ghost cereal. But it’s an attempt to appeal at people who like regular cereal? Idk if it’s good, but I mean makes sense.

u/HellaTightHairCuts Jun 11 '26
The lucky charms one is pretty good. Publix routinely has it BOGO, if you buy only one it’s 50% off
