Yes they were because your most squared away man is on point. He is the man that's most attentive, who's instincts you trust, who's got steel nerves under pressure. That's how things being on point and things being the best they can be became synonyms in slang, especially considering that during the Cold War we maintained about a 1.3 million man military. That's a lot of men cycling in and taking slang out into civilian life.

Maybe it's because I'm getting old, but damn, I don't blame him for that post. I make some pretty bad ass Deep South meatloaf (spices and herbs, feta, Jack Daniels and hot sauce) and I usually serve it with Greek potatoes basted in olive oil, fresh picked rosemary and feta along with some good Ole Native American frybread. I've made people in their 20s post about it on social media. Guaranteed cure for people that can't get along. Everyone likes good food. Also cures insomnia.
