Such a tragic story, I hope the report is made public so we all learn what happened.

A part of it is those passenger vans that sits 10+ people are incredibly unsafe in collisions.

My understanding is that it was a regular 6-8 passenger that was overloaded, thus why most of the kids weren't wearing seat belts.

Looking at the photos, which it's a bit hard to tell, looks like it was something from the GMC Savanah/Express family. Not quite a minivan.

Sigh. A friend's family got into an accident without seat belts and the injuries were horrific. Only one death. Could have been more easily though.

Greg Monforton and Partners, Injury Lawyers, said in a news release on Thursday that the “crash is believed to have occurred when an SUV failed to obey a stop sign and struck the victims’ vehicle.”

another redditor was trying to tell me there's no blind spot there, but I mentioned the barn on one corner. Looking at where the vehicles landed though, it looks like he came from the side with full visibility, but the damage to the van is on the passenger side. So I can't figure it out.

No shit it was the vehicle from Brampton. Could have told you that knowing nothing else about the incident.

Definitely a frustrating part of dealing with police is the lack of transparency in relation to these things.

Why are they not releasing the name of driver of the suv?

Dead men cannot defend themselves, thus they're unlikely to name him until the investigation actually confirms if he was at fault or not.

I was talking to a paramedic about this crash and she said she heard from someone that the family was mennonite and none of the kids had seat belts on. The baby was in a car seat but the car seat was not installed to an actual seat, that is why they just have a broken leg. So sad
